Don't use Photoshop for logos. Use Illustrator. Pixelation and compression artificats suck in logos; vector that shit.

Although 'ethics in games journalism' may have started on noble grounds, but it's been predominately used as a bully pulpit to publicly shame writers who for some reason or another rub the Internet community the wrong way. Like the PC Gamer writer, who wrote an opinion piece about how the PC Master race isn't such a great title. Before that piece, no one gave a crap that he'd been dating a Ubsoft customer service/pr person since the SUMMER OF LAST YEAR. Once the piece dropped and riled up the pissed off slueths, his relationship, only then, became a big deal.

That said, it's really quite hypocritcal to want reviews, and want them to be free of biases, when a review is infact about the interpretation of a game through one's biases. Total Biscuit isn't apart of games journalism; he's a personality, and acts accordingly. All you need to do to get TB into a mouth-foaming 5 minute rant is to present a clunky options menu; no legitimate journalist would do such a thing.

The credit card is not the problem, it's the user. Yes, a lot people buy shit they can't afford with it but the key word is PEOPLE. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Credit cards don't put people in debt, people who make mistakes put them selves and others in debt.

Back up your data. No, a fault-tolerant RAID is not backup. You have no idea how valuable your data is until it's gone and you need it. Put Windows/OS on a separate drive from your data. Drive; NOT partition. For a RAID, avoid buying drives that were made at the exact same time/same batch if possible Get a surge suppressor/battery backup. Even the best PSUs won't be able to handle a power surge well Always press the power after you unplug your PC before working on it, as there is always some 'juice' stored Don't open up a PSU. Don't even try to fix it. PSUs hold a charge for a ...very...long time and you will electrocute yourself if you're not careful Listen for funky noises. Often times noises can give you clues to failures that are about to happen (such as HDD clicking, CPU fans spinning unworldly fast Steam sales make you spend more money than you think you're going to.

I think much of it is going to hinge on if ISPs get on board with massively increasing the bandwith. If we get to the point where there's gigabit to the port for an overhelmingly majority of users in the US and Europe, then yes I will see even heavy workloads offloaded. At that point, as long as ping is under control, even a service like OnLive would be realistically viable for gaming.

You're preaching to the choir. I loathe Ubisoft to the point of even being anti piracy because any play of their games is rewarding bad behavior. I only used Uplay as an example of reasons why people might pirate something. One of which being pointless restrictions/DRM shoved down your throat that it interferes with legitimate customers as a farce of preventing piracy.

True, but you should be using RAID 6 or RAID 10 with drives bigger than 1TB anyway, really.

With 8TB drives, I'd likely use RAID 6. Get 6 of them, and you still have 32TB of usable storage.

Or just a simple RAID 1 mirror with 2 drives, and a backup.

Remember, RAID != Backup. You should always be backing up your critical data elsewhere anyway.

Guys, I think this is a hoax.

I was reading over the email a few times and there's just a number of things that don't sit right with me.

Here's a link to the 'email' from 'Ubisoft Referral Program' http://i.imgur.com/A8MzQzb.png

The things that don't sit right with me:

Inconsistencies in the 'disivion'. It's from 'Ubisoft Referral Program' , but lists the program as 'Contracts program', the signs off as 'Ubi Contracts Management Team' and goes through Ubisoft Support. That doesn't make a single lick of sense. The letter which was sent that same day in the e-mail doesn't know who the 'RagnosTech TM Corp' owner by real name, but knows enough about them that they'd be willing to send a legal document over? Baloney. The consistent change of the "Ubisoft", "Ubi" and "ubi". That doesn't make sense and would never happen in a real e-mail from a sales or HR representative. More baloney. There is horrible language in the text that no sane business (even though Ubisoft is French) would use. It seems like it comes from someone that has a poor grasp on English and absolutely wouldn't be a point contact in the hiring process.
    - "...your low specs patches as you call that are getting high hype at our fourms..." 'Negotionations' happen in 5 hours? Really?! The e-mail is dated as 12-9, and the Facebook post announcing the possibility was 12-09. Ragnos1997's 'decision' comes 5 hours after announcing it. Ragnos1997 is 17. In Bosnia. That's going to be some mountain of paperwork. Ubisoft tends to change and/or theme their logo for each of their games. Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C
    - The logo we see in the e-mail is curious from Assassin's Creed 3 (Trailer). Why in the world would a new-hires 'contract' division of Ubisoft used a themed logo from a game that's two years old?!

Good for him for making a decision.

However, I may be in a minority, but he could have well handled it a little bit better. Reading what he posted and what was readable in the original email, it seems like he got the offer today, got excited posted about it, then decided that it wasn't for him, and then proceeded to pretty much burn a bridge all in the span of a few hours. Even though he mentions 'negations broke down', it really seems a bit...fast... almost like there weren't really any negotiating and barely any time 'thinking about it'. He's young. He's 17, and he'll probably end up going places, but this is one of those face-palm moments where he could have handled turning down Ubisoft in a much, much better and professional way that would still leave doors open should the situation change one way or another.
