    looks good. its all about deciding what is important to you and buying what meets those requirments. if you always look at whats around the corner you will never buy anything thats currently available.

    cooling solution is really dependent on the card type... both have some advantages/disadvantages - generally as long as its cool enough under air just stick with it.

    I am really happy with it, I prefer TN panels for their response and lack of ghosting. however some are just too bad at reproducing colour, the Samsung u28d590 does a good job at reproducing colour and its good to look at in my opinion, compared to my144hz 1080 panel its hugely better for colour production and not much worse than my LGEA93 (ultra-wide IPS)
     
    There are many more cheap 4k panels entering the market, Including gsync compatible ones and IPS ones.

    Trust me it´s nothing you would want to see with a single GTX980. I´ve done many benchmarks and ingame tests. Like I wrote before I wouldn´t do it. But with the next gen GPUs from AMD and nVidia in the pipeline 4K gets a lot more interesting for enthusiasts.
    Don´t get me wrong I´m the last one to talk someone out of high end stuff, cause I live that shit , in fact I´m waiting to step back up to 4K. Therefore I hope AMD and nVidia bring the next cards real soon, because seeing those place holder GTX980s in my machine, not water cooled almost drives me nuts.
    All I´m saying is I´d really wait for the next gen. I love the Maxwell chip because of its insane OC potential, but the GM204 isn´t the true power house that the GM200 will be.
     
    EDIT: Oh and I don´t care about brands. I´ll buy whatever is the fastest and gives me OC potential.

    two GTX980s, or possibly two R9 390s which are supposed to be released in February~.

    I would wait for the 390s to come out, they're supposed to be beasts at 4k. 
    Two 980s are also a good option if you want to run just about every game at ultra right now.
     
    P.S. Don't listen to people who say, "You need quad 980s to run medium 4k" because they're misinformed and plaguing tech forums atm.
