  1. I'll be interested to see how they differentiate the note 8 from the S8+. I have an S8+ and I can't see how they can make it any bigger without getting ridiculous. So slap a pen and dual rear camera on it and call it a day?
  2. If I can't re-map that button then my pre-ordered S8+ will have a button I never use and occasionally (annoyingly) accidently press. Why would anyone want to use Bixby when Google assistant is baked right into Android? I'll try it but I'm not convinced, feels redundant.
  3. I see how there is an emphasis on showing that this is more powerful than the PS4 Pro. But like all tech, there will always be something more powerful right after it. This just means Sony will most likely throw the next punch and one up this in the next year or so. This could very well be the start of incremental updates on consoles. They need to just make them modular (PC) already so the important stuff can be swapped without buying a whole new box every friggin year. Scorpio is not worth it to me as Microsoft already releases everything on PC anyways and my GTX 1080 is already more powerful than this
  4. LG G6 is coming out two weeks earlier and has Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, so this is just marketing speak. They aren't the first, they'd just like to believe they are.
  5. I've been waiting for this to get new M.2 SSD, didn't realize it's out. Edit: $249 for 500GB, meh
  6. considering you can get another 8GB 2133 ram for around $45-50 it's really a no brainer, I'd go for it. I recently bumped up to 16GB and it gives me plenty of wiggle room.
  7. Here's to hoping my 1080 non-ti can manage 1440p ultra at 60+fps. Guess we'll have to wait and see. As in, I'm waiting until a month or two after release when it's been patched a few times, I'm not pre-ordering shit.
  8. Hopefully my 1080 can muster around 60fps in 1440p ultra..... I wasn't planning on buying at launch anyways. Dear god is my game backlog large, better to wait for a sale. It will hopefully have been patched a bit by then.
  9. Just my opinion, but I farking hate how the curved screens look and the idea of having wrapped screens in general, so ugly.
  10. The MSI looks identical to my regular 1080, must be raiding the same parts bin.
  11. I have a 1080 and am pushing maxed settings (except crazy AA settings) at well over 60fps currently in 1440p. Its more card than you need for mid/high settings at 1440p 60hz now, but in a year or so who knows. I'm part of the "get the best you can afford" group. No reason to skimp and then have to upgrade again in a year. I say get the 1080 now and enjoy maxing everything with out worry for a while until games catch up, then ride it until you have to start compromising settings to keep 60fps. I doubt though that you'll be able to stretch 4-5 years without compromise.
  12. I've had two G4's boot loop on me. It was annoying but quickly fixed under warranty. I love my G4, it's been a great phone otherwise. I'll hold judgment on the G6 until I read some actual reviews instead of calling it a failure after reading a single page spec sheet. I'll be shopping the G6, S8 and HTC Ultra this year; we'll see who comes out on top.
  13. I have a 1080 already and it's more power than I need in most games at 1440p max settings. At least I have a 144hz monitor to use the extra frames I'm getting. 1080ti would be overkill in current system. Might consider when I build my 4K HTPC Superbeast if Volta isn't out by then.
  14. Having Trump say anything positive about your company can snowball into a negative publicity shitstorm. I wouldn't call it an advertisement per se.
  15. Using Rise of Tomb Raider as example. I can run it max settings plus 2x SSAA and get around 50fps, lower quality FXAA or SMAA nets higher frames. Go on Techpowerup, Techspot, HardOCP, Guru3d or any number of benchmark sites and find a 1080 benchmark review. It will give you a general idea of what it's capable of
  16. Yep, it smashes most anything at max setting in 1440p at 60fps unless you use crazy AA settings
  17. I'm not surprised by the underwhelming specs, it's nothing new for Nintendo. I'm sure the GPU spec is below what a XBone/PS4 standard can push. They always concentrate more on trying to catch that lightening in a bottle new trend like the Wii (motion controls) and hope that differentiates them to drive sales. This time it's the hope of leveraging the handheld to pull in the massive 3DS audience but also offering the docking option for you traditional couch gamer. I'm sure this will be about as (not) popular as the Wii U to the avid gamer unless they actual like Nintendo branded games.
  18. ha, SLI 1080 running 2560x1080??? Sounds like they picked that resolution because it has "1080" in it. That's so overkill; could have at least gone for 3440x1440 if I'm paying $9k for it. Though I guess it's enough for a 21" screen and it would most likely be on a desk hooked up to a 4K monitor anyways
  19. For sure, obviously still the rumor mill, so take with a spoonful of sea salt
  20. Latest G6 rumors state we may lose the removable battery.
  21. I'm waiting for 1080ti or Volta news. Until I know more my 980 is working perfectly fine.
  22. This is your answer here. I have a 980, am always thinking whether I should get a 1080 now or wait. All I have to do is play a game and see that I'm still getting good frames at 1440p and almost maxing most games still. No need to upgrade until the performance you have doesn't feel like enough, which is subjective and different to each person.
  23. It says right in the Binge-on product details that it only covers up to 480p video.
  24. That's hideous. I'll stick with my black/red original H440 thank you.
  25. I'm done with Samsung after the recent issues. It will be quite some time before I could trust having one of their phones in my hands or my house.
