Ahh. The only thing that upsets me is that it isn't square and the doubled spacebar makes no sense. Would have been nice to have a terminal key in lieu of the Windows key.

For some reason System76 decided to not use a standard layout or caps bigger than 1.5u, resulting in this mess. There's almost nothing that makes it a compelling buy over other 75% boards, aside from maybe an incredibly niche thing (you can machine and 3D print the casing, caps and PCB yourself), but that alone doesn't justify $280 for this thing when there are better 75% keyboards that not only have most of the same features but better features than it for $100 less.

  2. isn't that exactly what is happening here OnlyFans built itself up on porn and support for sex work, and now it's banning that. It's like if McDonalds banned food.
  3. I've been at my aunt's house in Colorado for the past half-week, and I gotta say that while travel feels awkward right now... it's nice not being the only gay person in the house lmao (one of my cousins out here is gay and married)
  4. It means they aren't, that the technology they're touting doesn't actually exist, and are simply trying to escape bad press about a federal investigation by "announcing" something they A. know they can't ship, especially not by 2022 and B. have no intention of ever shipping. Don't fall for it.
  5. You tell me that like I don't know what phone you're holding by just looking at the camera bump/cluster. Yes, I have too much free time, I know this.
  6. Is this not obviously a man in spandex pretending to be a humanoid robot? Remember that Boston Dynamics has been working on robots like this for years and have been basically leading robotics the entire time, and even they can't produce anything like what Elon and Tesla are promising to deliver in a year. If anyone's full of shit, it's Elon.
  7. Camera bumps/clusters. Literally the only way how phones can differentiate themselves now.
  8. Or maybe someone in South America who's paid abysmal rates to remotely provide "artificial intelligence" to the machine. Or, in the case of the Tesla Bot, a guy in spandex badly imitating a robot because Tesla has no intentions of ever actually shipping this thing, and needed a distraction from the fact that there's a federal investigation of Tesla looking into why Autopilot tends to crash into parked emergency vehicles that started a week ago.
  9. The only thing it does is force sex work underground, which increases sex trafficking and sexual slavery. Every single group who claims to be against sex trafficking and sexual exploitation is actually for it, because they see it as punishing people for expressing themselves in ways that their god doesn't approve. It's... Fucked.
  10. If you go to this magical place called "the outdoors" then tell me how many people you see with expensive phones compared to cheap phones. Yesterday I was at the Denver Zoo and aside from the typical iPhone, the only Android phones I saw were all cheapo devices that don't cost more than $200. Aside from the sole Galaxy S21 I saw I'm 100% sure I had the most expensive Android phone in the entire zoo, and mine cost me $350 lmao People who have a lot of money to dump on phones and a smorgasbord of accessories are a minority. Also, do you remember the New 3DS and how Nintendo didn't include the proprietary charger with it because "everyone already owns a 3DS" (If "everyone" means ~50 million people out of... 7 billion people) and people correctly pointed out that this was a problem because people were gonna buy a New 3DS as their first 3DS and then would have to drop another $30 on a charger on top of what they already spent on the 3DS? lmfao
  11. It's just empty posturing. They can talk about how much they love the environment all they want but they're still major contributors to ewaste by way of the phones themselves.
  12. There's still the actual phones. Those are gonna continue contributing to eWaste, especially since every OEM hates the idea of you fixing your phone yourself and would prefer it if you just bought a new phone every year because that makes them more money. And they have non-recyclable elements, like those batteries. There's no way around it. They're gonna contribute to eWaste regardless.
  13. Yeah, because everything used to use that and there still are things that do. Meanwhile, as I said, someone's only USB-C device might be a Switch.
  14. I mean the bottom of the barrel. Phones for like, $100. Phones that people buy because they don't really want or need a whole lot of phone, and don't have a lot of money to spend. Very few of those are USB-C, even from big names from Samsung. But you might be able to find one from Nokia lol
  15. Have you looked at the cheap, low-end phones that most people actually buy? Most of them are still micro-USB. There's also people upgrading from older iPhones, which use Lightning to USB-A cables. See above.
  16. Yup, I am. I know so many people with either zero USB-C devices, or only one USB-C device and it's a Nintendo Switch, even now in 2021. I would know, they're my family.
  17. Someone already pointed it out but not everyone has USB-C chargers. Most of my devices now are USB-C so I have a few at home, but there's still millions more without any USB-C chargers or even devices with it. If they do own one device that charges over USB-C, it's likely a Nintendo Switch, and they can't just always keep the charger away from that, especially if they wanna play their games on the TV. Tech enthusiasts are just a minority in the grand scheme of things, and not everyone has like, 5 - 10 USB-C chargers, cables or devices laying around. So yes, they will need to bump up production of chargers since people who are gonna be buying their first USB-C device.
  18. "Like Apple and Samsung, Google stayed mum on the fact that this move also helps them save some money. Surprise, surprise." They also won't mention how now charger makers will need to produce far more chargers for iPhones and Android devices, which means they'll use more cardboard, paper and more resources, and that these phones will end up in a landfill somewhere in a few years and have unrecyclable materials such as lithium ion batteries, offsetting any and all carbon footprint reduction by using less packaging materials for their phones to the point where it's almost nil. They can pretend to care about the environment all they want but it's all just empty posturing. But of course, any carbon footprint reduction is gonna be theater when 100 companies, mostly in the oil industry, output 71% of all emissions.
  19. Think I might start reducing my presence in the tech community significantly in a month or two. I won't be gone entirely, probably, but much more scarce outside of specific things (e.g. keyboards) because tech in general isn't really a big interest of mine anymore.

  20. The US did, 20 years ago, and it almost led to Microsoft being broken up under antitrust law in the United States. Either they've forgotten or are trying to push it again.

We also might have violated antitrust laws by doing so but at least I could push people beyond any reasonable limits! And, for a beautiful moment in time, we created a lot of value for our stockholders!

"Yeah we broke people and destroyed families, but at least we made a browser nobody actually liked" sure is a way to reflect on Internet Explorer.

We made a shit product, I caused broken families, but at least I learned something about how far I can push people to do my bidding!

perhaps I will tell Sony I might have broken my rule on mmorpgs just to have a wombat pet.  Doubt it would do any good.
