  1. Usually you clean the heatsink itself by blasting it with compress air. To remove the small bits of dust that still stick to it you can use some paper towels and alcohol. I'm not a chemist but heatsinks are mostly made out of copper pipes and aluminium fins. If it actually corrodes that means it came into contact with water. That would raise some question about the history of the card. Don’t quote me on this one.
  2. Seems like the driver is crashing and recovers into a "safe" mode. That is usually indicated by the lower clock speed. Have you tried removing the driver and reinstalling it?
  3. At the end of June this year Aqua Computer release a new fan controller in their line up the QUADRO. I never understood why people would spend their money on a separate fan controller if nearly every motherboard in existence has one build right into it. But since I bought a gpu with an aio last year I began to understand why. And to put it simple it's because the integrated fan controller mostly suck pretty hard with restricted functionality or unusable software. Introduction rant incoming: So if all you wanna get is a proper fan and RGB controller are the 40€ for the QUADRO worth it? Actual review: Table of contend: Overview and accessories How to setup Software configuration TL:DR 1. Overview and accessories 2. How to setup 3. Software configuration Disclaimer: I took all pictures after I configured the software. They don't show the default state! Any words that are in german are setup by myself. The software itself can be set to english. I will go through every menu step by step. Table of contend: 3-1: Overview page 3-2: Data quick view 3-3: Data log 3-4: QUADRO (Fan setup) 3-5: QUADRO (RGB setup) 3-6: Data im-/export and software settings 3-1: Overview page 3-2: Data quick view 3-3: Data log 3-4: QUADRO (Fan setup) 3-5: QUADRO (RGB setup) 3-6: Data im-/export and software settings 4. TL:DR + PWM controlled fans + Includes ambient rgb control + Included temperature sensor + Can be placed anywhere in the case + Tiny footprint + Very extensive fan controller + Very customizable software - No DC control for 3-PIN fans (will run at 100% all the time) - Molex connector for power - Licensed software - Cannot combine multiple temperature sensor values to a single average value (Licence limit of the QUADRO, is possible with the poweradjust models) I do recommend the Aqua Computer QUADRO as a very good price to performance fan controller!
  4. Open the ressourcemonitor and go to the CPU tab and take a look. Maybe it will give more info. Taskmanager doesn't show everything.
  5. I did buy a Quadro now. If someone would like to see a review let me know.

    That is a cute pfp

    Thanks
  7. I suggest watching the latest Ask GN. Steve talks about sli and AFR in the beginning.
  8. tldr: Don't buy the 2000 series if you don't want to be a beta tester or you want to get something worth your money. The performance in current games is on par with a GTX 1080 Ti. An argument against the 2080 would be that it's more expensive than a 1080ti. So why pay more for the same performance? Adding to bellabichon: I don’t see that raytracing will be a major thing any time soon. Some games will add it for some special effects (like water reflection) but not for the entire render of the game. Maybe in 5 years or so. But even then most games wont ditch the current technique as that would declare old hardware as useless. But you have to consider that nvidia likes to drop driver improvements for their "older" generation as soon as a new one is out. So the 2000 series might get more driver updates that increase performance in the long run. But I doubt it will be worth the money.
  9. I would try a different monitor, just to rule that out. If it doesn't work with a different monitor you should do a driver reinstall, just to rule that out too. If nothing helps I would write an RMA. In theory we should also test the psu but since there is no load on the gpu I would rule that out right away.
  10. Most of modern gpus are rated at around 85C. That's where they start thermal throttling. They can run 24/7 at those temps but it is advised to keep the temp below ~80C.
  11. The aquaero 5 also isn't pwm controled. For that I would need the aquaero 6 which cost ~100€. What do you mean by "not as customizable"? Can you specify? The Aqua Computer QUADRO seems a vaiable option too. It's pwm, has additional temp sensors and is ~40€. Opinion?
  12. Any one of you got any experience with the Aqua Computer poweradjust 3 fan controller? Is it worth the 30€? Basically I need some way to control all my radiator fans according to either cpu and gpu. My motherboard has no connectivity for additional temp sensors, Speedfan doesn't work anymore, can't connect the radiator fans directly to the gpu and my case has no 5,25 slot.
  13. Did you oc your system? If yes, first thing I would do is disable the oc for cpu and gpu. NM I should leard to read.... I have no experience with that msi card but the cooler looks beefy and should keep the gpu under 84c. Did you notice any performance hit from clock throttling? If you didn't oc the gpu it might be worth to remove the cooler and check the condition of the thermal paste. Maybe it has gone bad - could explain the temps. Also do the generic stuff: Undo any latest software changes (driver, os update etc). Reinstall all the drivers and check for proper cable connection.
  14. Same with other software like precision x?
  15. That looks like a blown inductor (that's what you call it, right?). Yes, that is bad. This thing is part of the power delivery circuit of the gpu. The card might run fine but you definitely should not use it. If you have warranty you should return it asap.
  16. Imo it will still take a rather long time. Mainly because the average Joe doesn't really care about Linux. They know their Windows and they know about mac but Linux is still a niche product (at least in the consumer marked). I just can’t see companies pushing the Linux support when just a fraction of their audience even knows what Linux is. This puts the Linux support unfortunately in a bad circle. Not many consumers -> not a big priority for support -> Not many consumers due to lack of support etc. Maybe someday. but not today, not tomorrow and not next week.
  17. That's what I already did but got a few problems with it. The only software that would allow me to control a fan connected to the mainboard according to the gpu temp would be A: Speedfan (Which doesn't work right on my ryzen platform) or B: Argus Monitor (which I tried and decided I don't like it).
  18. I own a 1080 FTW Hybrid and the only thing that annoys me is that the gpu itself can't control the fan from the radiator because the cable is directly wired to the 12v line without pwm or voltage control. Now I was looking at the pcb of the board and noted a header that looks like a second fan header. If you take a look at the pcb (thanks Steve) You see there is a header under the 1 phase power delivery for the GDDR5. As far as I know the internal fan and pump are connected to the header on the far right. Now: Is the header below the power delivery a fan header or not?
  19. Could you specify the "they just don't work"? What GPU where you using before? Did you uninstall the previous driver?
  20. Most, if not all, 1050s are limited to 75w of power because they don't have any additional power connectors. So you could simply hit a power-limit. You can enable the graph for power and voltage limit in the afterburner hardware monitor. That should give more info.
  21. You can try to remove the wifi profile for this network by going to Settings / Network and Internet / WLAN / Manage known networks and remove the profile corresponding to your wifi. You can also try to reset the entire network adapter by going to Settings / Network and Internet / Status and click on reset network. This will most like remove all save wifi-passwords etc so be warned.
