  1. It wouldn't be if lmg actually internally reflected on many near miss pr disasters that have happened in the past where this result is entirely not unexpected. It's a pattern of behavior I stopped watching lmg directly years ago after internally deciding. This public meltdown is just a culmination of what has already been done.
  2. This is absurd Linus did bad and is in full on deflect, redirect, shift blame. The reason people think your Linus is because your acting just like him.
  3. Local traffic end to end encryption between different mfg devices is not trivial to have any nas connect to the Homebase with end to end encryption that has no keys stored by eufy would require user's to maintain their own private certificate infrastructure. If they made it seamless it wouldn't be end to end as they would have the auth and certificate chain. Their end to end encryption it talking about viewing stored footage from the camera to the user device which the storage in the Homebase is encrypted. The rich notifications are optional and you trade convenience and latency for weakening the security. But it is basically impossible for people to guess the cloudfront links anyways other than owners debugging the WebView at the same time. I have seen zero proof of a remote hack how is anyone supposed to get the serial number if you remove it from the box as mac and sn are protected info that is similar to your IMEI which is also used widely in cell phones for auth and is important info to hide. If you own the device are on the LAN control the router and have all the secret IDs obviously you can connect or make it "hackable". The report provides zero proof and I have not been able to reproduce it with a properly configured firewall and guests cannot access anything on the LAN by default. Local network access is very typically not hardened SMB shares RDP and many countless protocols and routers are not secure if someone is in your house the random passwords are printed on the device and are based on their serial numbers. Zwave devices all have their pairing key printed on them is that a security problem? If you have untrusted friends use a guest wifi and vlans it's best practice to not let untrusted user's into you LAN. If you expose your LAN side directly to the internet you will get hacked. This is complete nonsense obviously if you have a local nas video server if an intruder is in front of it your screwed no matter what mfg makes it. Even if you had a professional enterprise video server if you had physical access you just need to yank three drives out and all the footage is poof. If you upload everything to the cloud you'd need to pay fees monthly for storage and bandwidth.
  4. https://community.anker.com/t/how-to-setup-rtsp-on-eufycam-to-stream-video-to-your-compatible-nas/64833 This seems highly overblown it's a feature and a if a user misconfigured their firewall yes they are exposed. You normally would not route rtsp traffic by default. They could just disable it all in FW. But that would actually remove a feature. It's ironic actually that a feature for experts can be expertly misused. Until they post other accounts live feeds that can be activated remotely I don't see an issue. A misconfigured firewall is a bad idea. And a serial number that is unique and a user account id that is also unique is a security feature if they just used incrementing serials and user IDs that would be a problem but I have not seen any proof that it can be exploited by anyone but the user debugging their own cameras which already have the feature and give the rstp url answer in the app.
  5. The fact deleting the account didn't delete the push notification cache is not surprising or a gdpr violation. They have 30 days to delete functionally required content. The cloudfront links automatically expire and it is basically impossible to guess the notification link unless you own the camera have its serial number and account info and event timestamp and do that within the day or so the link is valid. If you want fast and reliable rich push notifications you would actually need to send the pictures and face matches so they can be displayed on the user's device the moment they get network access. If they did a pure local relay solution it could be super slow or unreliable in poor network conditions. The user also has to enable face matches and turn on rich notifications. If you don't then the images are not sent. CDNs cache data short term deleting your account won't magically erase all traces right away. You trade security for convenience. You could disable all notifications block it from the WAN network the VLC playback thing would be all that remains and is a feature and it's only exposed if you expose it directly to the internet as it's meant for LAN rstp streaming to a nas. If you mess that up you probably exposing your entire LAN as well. They are selling more powerful more local Homebases but it's a cost vs. features thing they are purely local storage that is how they offer no subscription cost but notifications that work well have to transit the cloud and cdn caching is a reliability feature you'd want otherwise if you lose network for even a moment remotely you'd miss notifications and preview images and face matches you configured would not show up or would show up much later.
  6. His personal reputation with the school body is his academic reputation and he lied directly to his peers because he wanted to under his own words "impress my teachers" with his "inventions" which are not his inventions in any respect. Doing so at school directed at the school body of peers is an academic issue of misrepresenting work that his not his own. How is it my own reason that Amhed states, "I brought the clock to impress my teachers" Which you state peers includes teachers and students. Which by the way is the entire school itself. He wants to create a favourable impression (impress) which builds his academic reputation through the lie of his invention to his peers. I certainly hope he didn't just want to attract as much non-academic attention (getting arrested) or wanting to physically impress his teachers with the clock (press clock into human). Your missing the front of that definition again. Why would a quote to the definition of impress have a reference to academic reputation. You don't have the mention of creating reputation because you keep ignoring it and not quoting it. You are also not "we". If your using the line of though that impress was not to gain a positive/favourable academic reputation building but was only to attract attention to himself your going down that line of crazy conspiracy thought that he intentionally wanted to attract attention to him self without intending for an academic reputation building. He meant both definitions in that he wanted to gain academic reputation and be noticed by his peers as an inventor. This boils down to my original point he should not have been arrested or suspended but the teacher should note down his misrepresentation of other people's work in school during class to teachers. And it should serve as a lesson to him that cheating is wrong even if its not an official exam. Engineering teachers who fail to detect such academic fraud should also be punished with a mark on their record for failing to detect such obvious non-inventing and lack of engineering.
  7. You see a school is called an academic setting when in session. Was he in school at the time of his academic misconduct in front of teachers presenting his fake hobby work directly to said academic representatives. Yes he was, did he willingly bring it to them yes, did he do it to impress them his own words say "impress my teachers" so yes he said it himself. When a school building has no teachers or students or classes it is not an academic setting just an empty school building. It lacks the peers that make up the school body. Personal reputation with teachers and fellow students who as a whole represent the school itself is attempting to build an academic reputation with the school body. Your personal reputation in an educational context is obviously your academic reputation. To lie to the entire school, nation about your self directed academic skills and work is unethical and academic fraud when paraded around school directly to his academic peers. Amhed, I brought the clock to impress my teachers = use not his own work clock on teachers/peers to gain academic reputation by creating a positive impression on his academic peers. Proof is from his own words. Your getting hung up on the academic part of the academic dishonesty when he committed it with the intent to impress his academic peers, at his academic school setting, during school hours, in class. You don't even seem to have anything to say about the obvious lying because it is obviously a lie over and over again. He lied at school to the school body (his peers) that is why it is academically related and should be noted on his record. Also why lie about making inventions he has no possibility of making himself. (USB hub for example from your video interview)
  8. Yes he said it himself he wanted to impress his teachers is why he took the clock non-invention to school. Wait a second so if peers includes teachers then your admitting he is lying to his teachers and previously you stated, (peers should also include all students as I doubt the teachers are his friends or to be faster the entire school) By lying to his "peers" which includes teachers he is lying to the school's representatives and can be cited for his lies on his academic record. You stating peers include teachers you just imploded your entire line of thought. (Good standing and good reputation with peers of which a subset are teachers being the same thing) At what point did he seek to improve his standing with his teachers, when he wanted to create a good reputation amongst his peers (teachers and students) by the desire to "impress" them. If teachers and students are the peers then they as a group form the school and to build a reputation with them is to build an academic reputation which is what the school is an academic group. You did in fact keep going on about peers not teachers. More than just his peers what does that even mean if peers includes the entire school (teachers, students). Does he need the president to gain academic reputation??? He lied to the school and media. It is academic fraud at school and to the nation at large. I called you out because you never actually quoted him and when you did instead of peers its teachers. Because that is what he keeps on actually saying. He did not say "impress my peers" he said "impress my teachers" in the interview or "show my teachers" (In order to impress with your work you tend to need to show it).
  9. Saying your not ignoring anything and then ignoring my last post is not doing you any favours. Previously, "ignoring the whole, create a favourable impression bit. " It can be harmful to your reputation to create a negative impression. Similarly you can build your reputation with a positive impression. He literally said he brought the clock to impress his teachers. (in order to impress someone your going to have to show up in some manner) What he says in other interviews doesn't change the fact he said that he brought it to impress his teachers why else would he bring it to school. To get a perfectly neutral impression? that makes no sense and if your drawing attention to yourself then your not going to do it by being intending for perfectly neutral responses because that would be indifference which does not make any impression (positive/negative or attract attention). Not normal reason to "invent" something. You also previously said he never said teacher he said show peers and now its show teachers. You are referencing another different interview which was not shot in one cut and has clear editing marks. Also more lies from him in that interview and the same repeated ones from the others. I make stuff like, a USB Hub with DC power input (yeah sure that hand reflow soldering looks perfect too bad your not a reflow oven) https://youtu.be/3mW4w0Y1OXE?t=4s I made a clock (He did not) and they took my invention (not his invention). https://youtu.be/3mW4w0Y1OXE?t=31s Wow the level of lying goes far beyond just the clock he claims that USB Hub is his invention (even using stock components and a pre-made board I doubt the kid could solder a quad flat pack that neatly and then get his quality control department to check things over and give it a inspection stamp, seriously this kid is lying at school and in multiple interviews). All his inventions are just random electronics with the case missing.
  10. Where still talking right about the subject. That "clock" that Mohamed Ahmed made is a 1980's Digital Alarm Clock Not his invention. Are you ignoring the whole, create a favourable impression bit. By wanting to impress his teachers with his "invention" he sought to gain academic reputation, notice, attention from the school's representatives the teachers. You not just not expecting to find proof to your questions your continuously ignoring the proof. You then claim it is impossible to proven even though its just been proven constantly. Talk about closed minded perspective. Ahmed stated directly his intention was to impress his teachers (as in positively one would hope) except his invention is a lie. His own words (impress teachers) not peers. Your not quoting him your quoting yourself for unknown reasons. You keep saying its impossible that doesn't actually make it so when Ahmed directly states it. Your literally defending the kid for lying to his school and the nation about a project he did not make, invent or even reassemble. It is conclusively a commercial 1980's digital alarm clock not his own invention.
  11. Amhed, I brought the clock to impress my teachers His teachers are the school's staff and representatives. They are the school in combination with the students under them. Operating in a physical space known as a school building. He both showed it off to his teachers and classmates. Good academic reputation with the school means to gain favour/notice/positive impression with the teachers/students not good academic grades which could also have a terrible academic reputation slapped on the same record and through interviews, references, notes in the record. (Say a note saying these great grades are good and all but student was caught lying constantly and minor cheating incidents uncovered constantly in official and non-official school activities while under the school teachers supervision)
  12. Hmm same interview. Lets see, Reporter, tell us about why you decided to design this clock and bring it to school Ahmed, I brought the clock to impress my teachers (No correction on the design bit)(And as posted before at the end calls it one of his many inventions which is a lie as just prior he correctly identifies the entire guts of a media player as not one of his inventions which said clock is also just the entire guts of a clock in a box) https://youtu.be/6bvzTeCREQA?t=1m50s What does impress mean. to create a favorable impression; draw attention to oneself: a child's behavior intended to impress. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/impress And by creating said favourable impression he sought to improve his standing with his teacher in an academic setting. He did not say it brought it just to show he brought it to impress his teachers which means build positive impression for reputation building at school in an academic setting during classes. He choose the school because he wanted it to build his positive impressions with teachers and peers but did not invent or design or even reassemble said hobby project. Academic dishonesty by lying to a teacher about his supposed technical work hobbies. The teacher failed to identify or seek advise from fellow teachers to identify said plagiarism but instead thought it was a bomb. (They too should have it written on their employment record that they failed to correctly respond to academic misconduct as plagiarism isn't hoax bomb making which predictably caused a massive PR storm)(An alarm clock certainly could be a bomb trigger but only if there is a bomb attached to it there wasn't even a battery to keep time going away from a socket so it would have been a terrible trigger as it would always forget both the time and alarm time when the power cord is pulled or the power is cut) More quotes from Ahmed, “They interrogated me and searched through my stuff and took my tablet and my invention,” the teen said. “They were like, ‘So you tried to make a bomb?’ I told them no, I was trying to make a clock.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/09/16/they-thought-it-was-a-bomb-ahmed-mohamed-texas-9th-grader-arrested-after-bringing-a-home-built-clock-to-school/ Lets review here he never corrects anyone even though he knows what a commercial products guts are and calls the commercial clock guts his own invention and that he was trying to make a clock that already worked, had a 9V battery backup, and all sorts of other custom bits that indicate a completely finished mass produced product which is exactly what it is. Oh and built it to get noticed by his teachers one would assume in a positive manner to build reputation not intentionally scare them. Academic misconduct/dishonesty/fraud. (Misrepresenting someone else's work as your own, plagiarising a radio shack clock as his own "invention")
  13. He said he made it to impress his teacher and he was showing it to his peers in multiple classes. That is his own words and proof that he "built" said "invention" for the intent to use it at school for his own benefit during school for school reputation with teachers and fellow students. The academic outcome of education is to be taught how to learn and this kid has an low grade on that front which is a much more important unofficial subject which does not get graded unfortunately in official transcripts but can be expressed in the form of words in a note that goes in his record of poor character at school in the form of plagiarising hobby projects for display at school. The academic outcome that was associated with his academic activities was academic reputation with his peers and teachers something which leads to connections and future references and is by far much more important than grades alone. To build such reputation on academic dishonesty should not go unpunished/recorded.
  14. I get a lot of expected known unknown, private, restricted calls from oversea family and people who block their own caller ID. Blocking them all would not block the CID spoofers and would block legitimate calls. What Telco's should be doing is filtering digital CID data so that calls not actually registered with their database which is under their own control they block fraudulent attempts to spoof local numbers. They have their own subscriber database all they have to do is match any IP calls from outside the network and block them if they try to spoof a real number with a real line attached to it or no line at all. There will still be fraud done through registered SIP numbers but then you at least can report them and they can't dance around as much as just plain spoofing the number allows. And they could just dump them all into a VOIP local area code pool so you can at least tell that it is not a local number but an IP phone that could be anywhere.
