  1. My mic doesn't pick up sound after the latest update. If I go under 'Change System Sounds' the mic shows under the 'Recording' tab. It is set as the default device, but when I speak into it, the green bar does not light up. This is indeed the correct mic as it disappears when I unplug it the microphone. Some things that I have tried: Reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers for my specific motherboard (Asrock z370 Extreme4) + computer restart. No luck. Right clicking mic and ensure it isn't muted + sound level and mic boost are all the way up. Some interesting additional information: Blowing into the mic doesn't show a green bar, but banging it against my table does show a green bar (don't worry, I'm not harming it). My other mic works that is a different brand (but I need this mic to work). Before you suspect a problem with the mic itself, the problem is software related as the mic worked before the Windows update AND I have another one of the exact same mics, and it doesn't work either (I know for a fact that both mics worked before the recent update). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077TZJ5MX/ Again, the mic worked just a couple of days ago. I know that I can revert the Windows update. However, I want that to be a last step measure as it seems like a postponement of the inevitable. I would rather fix this problem. Any ideas (besides purchasing a new mic) ?.
  2. I haven't overclocked before. I just downloaded MSI afterburner and I am wondering how many mHz I should add on to the core clock. My 2080 is water cooled with a custom loop. Thanks for your advice.
  3. bump for anyone that may know how to solve this
  4. Okay, so I figured something out. After logging into the broken account, I can open task manager with Ctr+Shift+Esc and run the task "exploror.exe". This causes my desktop to show. For some reason exploror.exe isn't being run on startup. How do I fix that?
  5. Should I create a new account and drag EVERYTHING from the user folder of my old account into the user folder of the new account?
  6. I'm not sure what that means. When logging into my account, I use my microsoft email address and password.
  7. Aren't user accounts tied to emails? My other admin account is tied to an email. How do I go about copying over an entire user directory to another account?
  8. Yes there are other admins accounts. I have a recovery option for 2 weeks ago. Will that delete all of the file changes that I have made over the past 2 weeks? And even if it works, how will I go about removing the virus without causing these problems once more.
  9. I signed out of the account and signed back in. Still doesn't work.
  10. My computer was running sluggish so I ran a Malwarebytes scan and deleted the suspicious files (one was a trojan, apparently). After restarting my computer and logging into my account, the screen is black with a cmd in the windows32 directory. Other accounts on the computer work just fine. Something about my account is corrupted. I don't want to delete the files on my computer. Is there any way to repair my account?
  11. The tires might slow the max speed a bit but they look better. And I am not planning on going that fast anyways. I was gifted the 8600k so my intent was never to overclock.
  12. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079K11GNB What about this?
  13. My liquid cooler recently leaked and I am now searching for a cheap air replacement. I have an 8600k which I never overclock. So I need a cooler that get's reasonable temperatures at stock. The cooler I found looks pretty good, but I'm not sure about the brand as I have never heard of it. Do you guys have experience with it? https://www.amazon.com/darkFlash-Aluminum-Addressable-Motherboard-Control/dp/B07FNH5Z8Y
  14. Guys I have a question I used isopropyl to remove most of the gunk. The problem is that once the alcohol evaporates there is still some left over in the small crevices around the circuitry.
