  1. Hi all, A colleague is looking for a laptop, but my remit is usually PC... Current requirements are as follows: Not apple Thin n light and 2 in 1? Durable enough for daily backpack use Able to play civ 6 and cities skyline Doesn't care about: Resolution Speakers (but needs good Bluetooth) Budget: 1000 GBP 1250 USD 1600 CAD If there's stuff I've missed, I'll edit up here to add in thanks all
  2. Hi. I have some Presonus Eris E5's (TRS and XLR in balanced, RCA unbalanced). I have a TV with Optical and "headphone" out. Currently using Using dual XLR to 3.5mm as it's the only thing allowing me to control the speaker audio from the remote. As you can imagine, the sound quality is meh at best. Can anyone recommend a solution? I tried a 3.5mm to RCA DAC, but the TV started playing out the inbuilt speakers too and the volume buttons only affected the TV speakers. I had a look at new TV's but they seem to be HDMI eARC or Optical now anyway... I just want to use my bookshelf speakers Do I have to give up on using my speakers and just get a soundbar? AV Receivers are silly money for a small issue like this
  3. Please don't shoot, I know there's a bunch of posts already out there... I'm looking for a 55-65" TV for the front room for movie watching and playing console for the missus My requirements would be: 55-65" 800+NIT brightness "Low enough" glare (window close by) 4K I need to use with my studio monitors (so back panel audio) and would REALLY want to use the TV remote to control speaker volume 5ms or less refresh rate Ethernet Jack (possible 1gig?) Wall mounting options (just in case) Budget is based entirely on what is being offered, but under $1000 is a hard limit
  4. Sorry, I didn't explain it better I meant it's NOT the windowed one, just the plain side panel cheers
  5. Hey guys, So my girlfriend spilt some coleslaw on my side panel while I was modding my system - the side panel has been off to one side of my office for a couple weeks. I clean everything up today to find it. She had wiped it off with an Andrex wet wipe - and put it back. Subsequently, there are massive smears all over the side panel. Please advise on how the hell to get it off - nothing I have in the house will fix it. Please note, it's the rear side panel, so it's not the windowed one. TL;DR How to get grimy stuff off a side panel.
  6. Aah, so it's meant to be that way Thanks very much.
  7. Haha sorry, I should have explained. This is during a benchmark - I thought it shouldn't go below 97% during a benchmark
  8. I'm setting up my 6700k on a Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7. I'm trying to run the XTU benchmark, and whether it's at stock or 4.6 GHz with 1.3v, this (see attached) always happens. As far as I'm aware, shouldn't it be about 2$ variation, not 40%? Any help would be appreciated. Don't hesitate to ask for more info!
  9. It's asking for an activation key, but I've said I don't have one, and I'll see how it goes.
  10. I want to do this, but I don't have his windows product key. And his current laptop came with 7, he's now on 10. Great idea If I can do a fresh install....
  11. Hey Techies, Apologies if this should be in the Operating System forum. I am upgrading my dads laptop, and one part of which includes an SSD upgrade. He has an old Hitatchi HDD of 320GB and I'm putting him in a Crucial BX200. I'm using my tower PC to do this, as I can hook up hard drives. I started with Acronis True Image, but once the cloning has started it required a restart which then attempted to boot into the source drive, which I can't do because the cloning is being done from my OS drive. So next I chose AOMEI. My issue here is when I clone the drive (and it works fine) it just says that the SSD is not bootable, even though the drive appears to be identical. Can anyone help me with this, I'll provide any screenshots as necessary.
  12. For me it would have to be the keyboard. Those black on black keycaps just look so sleek and would go perfectly in a modern office environment, of which I am creating
