Slater got a reaction from ManOfDisguise in When are you considering to get GTA 5?
I've been seeing a lot of different responses under what circumstances we would get GTA 5 (assuming it comes out). So i just wanted to run a poll and see what most people would do and see the reasoning why. Given that R* have delayed this game multiple times and is approaching the 2 year "late" mark we may be able to say it's going to be a game that is MOSTLY polished. You can't avoid every single bug after all for a game as big as this, having said that it doesn't make sense why they'd delay the game even more surely by now it fairly polished and all that? I totally understand how some people don't mind them delaying the game to make it better but isn't that what they've been saying for a while now? When would you start suspecting that what they're saying isn't true, if it gets delayed another month? Then another? Then another? You get the point...

Anyways aside from the poll and some of my random questions/thoughts here's a video i found...Enjoy!

The thing that matters is that they didn't meet their deadline. There are other softwares that are being developed in the world other than games. Suppose I'm a software company. If I tell a customer that we are releasing a new feature on a specific date, they expect it on that date in a working condition. If I don't meet the deadline, who is at fault?

You are telling me it is the customer's fault because they expected something on that date? Mind you, it was us who gave them that date (which should have been an good enough estimation on when main development and quality assurance is done). This is where I just you are wrong. I believe that I would be at fault simply because I didn't meet the deadline. I don't care if in Rockstar's case, the software is a game, it is simply wrong to not meet a deadline. It is Rockstar's fault because the people are not working or the project manager didn't evaluate the deadline properly or simply didn't properly manage the project.

If your an employee and you tell your boss that a task can be done by a certain time, but then don't meet that time, try telling him that it is your boss's fault that you didn't meet your deadline.

As a developer, I know what it is like to not release a working product on time, and it is the customer's right to get annoyed (However there are cases where customers just don't understand how to use the software, despite the walkthrough). Now it is my turn to be a customer and complain that a working product isn't release on the designated time.

Slater got a reaction from IdortMasterRace in How do u feel about Steam Xmas Sale 2014
I wouldn't be surprised that some new steam users have been asking what the fuss was all about and i can't blame them. However since it's their first steam sale they don't realise how much better it used to be unless they heard from friends. Steam sales just seem to be losing their novelty for most people as each sale goes by.

I also hated how all the timers for everything had changed. It used to be daily deals that went for 24hrs, then you had flash sales every 8hrs and then community votes for every 8hrs as well. This last sale was 2 day "daily" deals but the front page rotated them daily, "flash" sales that lasted 12hrs and daily community votes. Comparing the two you can see with the recent sale, less games would've been put on sale due to the slower rotation rate and that is rather disappointing.

I probably will only pick up GTA V but that won't be coming out till after the winter sale so yeah....then i'll probably wait a week or so to see if the PC port is any good since these days PC ports aren't exactly great. If all is well i MIGHT pick it up right away otherwise i'll wait till it goes on sale after its been released and confirmed not to be another terrible port.

Yeah i'm waiting on Black Desert to come out so i can at least spend a good hour or two to make an awesome character. Then whether or not the gameplay itself is any good will be an entirely different matter, especially since its an action based combat mmorpg which means living here in Australia will mean i'll have to deal with 200-300ping on average, worst case would be an average of 400ms. PvP might be out of the question for me sadly

Slater got a reaction from BarbecueGamer in Twitch or Youtube?
Hey everyone just got a small "problem" deciding how to go about this. I currently have both a youtube and twitch account, one is for videos and one is for livestreaming (obviously). The main question is how would i decide which games to livestream and which to make into youtube video's in the form of let's plays/walkthroughs/etc?

Personally i enjoy livestreaming more than making youtube videos simply due to nature of being able to start up a game and stream it almost right away, while recording a youtube vid takes a lot more time for both the recording/commentating and then editting. This doesn't mean i don't want to stop youtube, it seems that it's easier to grow a the number of subscribers/viewers on youtube than on twitch and so it makes sense to keep making videos. But as i've started off this post, i have no clue which games i should livestream or record, i have no intentions of playing a game twice through and most games are great on either platform in my opinion.

One solution i currently can think of is record a video while i livestream and essentially upload a shortened or montage video of the livestream. This probably won't come off as great to youtube viewers since there is a difference in expectations in how a let's play or playthrough should be presented on youtube. Another issue with that idea is how taxing it will be on my system. I'm sure i could pull it off but i'm more concerned about how it would work out if i upload videos that are basically ripped straight out of my own livestreams. So another question to you guys would be would you watch a shortened video of a livestream made into a youtube video, meaning cuts here and there to make it more a let's play/playthrough or even just a montage?

Any help or suggestions to this little dilemma of mines would be most welcome! Thanks in advance!

I have to agree with you on that, that creation system looks really in depth and allows for so much to be done! I will definitely be spending at least an hour or two making my character look perfect in that When the game comes out that is....would be a shame if the MMORPG itself sucked, but i'd still download it just to make a character haha, they should actually have the option to have the character creation aspect of it as a seperate standalone program itself for people to mess around with earlier like how Saints Row has their "Initiation Station" which allows you to make your character in advance then port it over to the full release game

Slater got a reaction from NICKT in What games/genres are you tired of seeing?
MOBAs and Modern Military Shooters come to mind. I think that games/genres that don't have a set character as the main "hero" should always be customisable to the level of at least Saints Row. I'm also tired of games that don't allow people to mod them, mainly single player ones. If people make mod for your games it would extend the game's playability for most people and not to mention that it allows players to customise their experience of the game. Everybody loves options and mods give players options that game devs either didn't have time to implement or never considered an option. Skyrim is a perfect example obviously, it's still popular as ever and i'm sure everyone that has played it has had a unique experience of the game.

Slater got a reaction from Vitalius in Do you think the Steam Summer Adventure is rigged/biased?
Once valve changed the rules of the game, the plan pretty much fell apart in the attempt that everyone won twice. I think now its rather impossible for any other team to win since red team is on a winning streak and no doubt there probably have been people that jumped ship to red team once they saw red was winning so by a relatively significant margin. So red combined with more people and no doubt lots of big wallets, i wouldn't be surprised if they win the rest of the game or at least a couple more days.

Slater got a reaction from GeekySole9354 in Steam Store Summer Adventure Exposed and Explained #Rigged UPDATE!
I believe that the current results are this way because one time wins because it had the most people interested in a certain day of sale of a game or certain games and then the next day the games on sale might not interest them or they're low on funds or just waiting for another game to come on, i personally haven't spent anything yet and i'm still waiting for games i'd be interested in getting to pop up but the point is that i don't think everyone is buying a handful of games each day of the sale (unless you're new to steam!).

If teams were split evenly i think each team would win equal amounts of time since everyone has a finite amount of cash and a finite wishlist of games they want to get.

So basically, let's say each team had and equal amount of cash to spend during the sale. When purple team won first day they're now the poorest, with red still being the richest since they were last. 2nd day red won because most were interested with the games on sale and just so happened to be the richest. 3rd day green wins because they just like red, they came last the previous day so they spent the least, they see good deals they all go for it. So really its just a matter of how big each team's wallet is (because it is finite) and everyone on each team does have a finite wishlist which they may or may not dent depending heavily on their budget/wallet.

Once each team has used up all their money or has no more items on their wishlist of course they're going to lay back and just enjoy the games they got and probably avoid getting any more games from the sale

Actually Shadowplay does let you know when its recording, you just need to set it up to display in one of the 4 corners of your screen. You set it in Geforce Experience (i'm using v1.8.1) and when you hit record a little green dot will appear in that corner. On thing i would like to have included into Shadowplay is an FPS counter/monitor so i can actually see how little of an FPS hit i'm taking

So i recently came upon an article regarding the operating temperatures of the PS4. In the linked article below:

    http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/11/thermal-photos-of-the-ps4-show-just-how-hot-sonys-new-console-gets/

So what i've been reading online is people complaining about how "hot" the PS4 runs, now to me those temperatures and those thermal images suggest that it gets up to 60 degrees but i'm pretty sure it's a fair bit hotter at the CPU and GPU. However the overall conclusion i've come down to is that these temperatures are fine. We have CPUs and GPUs that can run up to and 95 degrees celcius so its not really a huge deal and not to mention, the PS4 is in a small case so its not like there's a lot of room for good cooling, would be interesting to see what the "slim" version would look like though, the PS4 is slim enough. So really i just think console owners just aren't aware of the operating temperatures hardware hardware are capable of, though for some they're worried about the overall longevity of the product.

Here's also a video of the fan noise of the PS4 after a few minutes of playing. People have been saying its due to the poor location the PS4 is located in, an enclosure with no airflow so those are something to keep in mind, but i'll let you guys decide that for yourself.

Either way i don't intend on getting the PS4 unless there's an exclusive i really want.
