1 Million Subscribers - Thank you all! And a giveaway!
Pyrobits replied to nicklmg's topic in LTT Releases
Hey Linus and crew, I love your videos, I watch as many of them as I can, I really appreciate the down to earth tone and realistic take on your reviews and all round. I found your channel when I was building my first PC a few years ago and I wanted some 'Tips;' I've gotten deeper and deeper into tech stuff in large part because of how fun you made your channel. I'm really looking forward to more keyboard reviews, in particular I want to know more about Khale switches; For the moment I'm avoiding them like the plague, but I see more mid level keyboards from multiple manufacturer's are using Khale switches, but i'm not sure if this is a company cheaping out on it's product, or if it is a legitimate replacement for tried and true Cherry switches. Speaking of Cherries and switching, my favorite food is probably a nice pie, sadly it's not cherry though, it's strawberry rhubarb. Thanks for this giveaway! And thank your all of the amazing videos, forums, online store, and community you've allowed to form. A hearty congratulations on 1 milliondiy subscribers, I hope you still enjoy making your content as much as we all enjoy watching it.- 22,218 replies

That's sound advice, they'll probably live on the wall as a collectible most days, I'm a fan of the artist who designed them, and the idea of having a functional piece of art from them is blowing my mind. But if I ever wear them outside, I live in Seattle, I think people will be distracted by the guitar playing roller skaters before any headphones. ...Or maybe they'll start playing their guitar along with the music from my headphones!!

Here's a link to their FAQ, it's tiny and open-ended, but maybe they'll add more later. http://yuumei.deviantart.com/journal/Axent-Wear-Cat-Ear-Headphones-FAQ-460807698 I'm already squirreling money away for their upcoming Kickstarter.

"$1,000 Worth in Audiobooks." How overpriced are these that 11 of them are worth $1k!?
-
Yeah, 40mm drivers is about the most technical thing I can find out about them, I mean, they do flashy branding alright but I'd never buy them. Also If anybody wants more media about them Unbox Therapy did an unboxing of the Storm Trooper version.

Just watched it; I didn't know until now what that 'street' gibberish was until he said it. So it's Star Wars/50 Cent Headphones... God help us all.

I found this on the front page of Newegg today, my immediate reaction was lolwut. I looked at the rest of SMS Audio's lineup on Newegg their highest rated product has one review, and their entire lineup (including a phone case) looks just as overpriced. I certainly am not convinced by these guys, and I'm confused by the odd pairing of SMS Audio and Lucasfilm. I just thought you guys might find it interesting or worth chuckling over.

I'm genuinely surprised that the Pioneer SE-A1000 was only recommended once for the 'best value for open headphones.' In my mind they should be on top of the value list given their sub $100 price tag.

Fixed; my brain just kinda adds that R automatically. That's true, though but it's the only "headset" I've ever used over an extended period of time, and for me, who didn't know better, it was fine; so I figured I'd talk about it. I would have listed my headphones/mic but he specifically said 'headsets' and I only know the one.

Lauen right about separate mic and cans being better, in fact, I'm using the Pioneer SE-A1000 with a FiiO e10, and the Audio-Technica ATR2500 right now and LOVE them, but having to be portable makes it difficult sometimes. When I travel I usually just use my Koss PRODJ100's since they're closed back and coiled cables are awesome, and I've also been known to drag my Logitech C525 Webcam around as a last ditch mic solution since my X12's broke. (not saying that's a good solution, but it's workable.)

I have some dated info from about four years ago: I went through about half a dozen headsets available from a local Best Buy to find something to work with both my laptop and my Xbox 360. Out of the zero to seventy-five dollar headphones I'd recommend, the Turtle Beach X12's. The cord was long enough to reach every corner of my studio apartment, and it's easily tied into a monkey braid if you want to shorten it. They had enough bass to make me happy, and plugging it into the laptop was a breeze (two 3.5mm jacks and USB to power them.) The headset also includes an in-line control for bass, game, and chat volumes, but I really only ever toggled the bass higher for some songs or to turn off the bass when I was getting a headache. The downside to these would be that the plastic construction only lasted about three years of me ferrying them around from place to place in a backpack with all my other electronics, but they lasted until I could afford to upgrade my setup. I don't really have any experience with high quality headsets or any that would use a separate dac/amp. sorry! tldr; X12's are a 'good enough' headset that can tide you over until you want a bigger/better audio solution.

I use headphones for most everything I do. I used to use Turtle Beach X12 when I used switch between Xbox and PC. Right now I use Pioneer SE-A1000, but also have AKG K240, as well as a pair of Koss DJ100 for when I go out. On occasion I'll plug in my Logitech Z313 speakers to play some music or a movie while I'm falling asleep though.

Koss KSC75 I've heard are decent, and I figure that style would fit kids pretty well. I might suggest the Sennheiser HD201's too, even though they look kinda huge.
