  1. Have you OC your RAM? or VRAM? It SHOULD finish if its stable. Also for gaming run 3DMark!. It stresses CPU and GPU and is a great way to see if the 2 OC will play nice
  2. If realbench won't even run you MIGHT have an issue right now. Aida64...as long as you want. I say at LEAST 4 hours but that is one persons opinion. If you game for 8 hours continuously run it for 8 hours.
  3. The 4690 is close enough to 4.7 but it MIGHT be because of windows power management (power options) settings. Make sure the max processor state and min are 100 when bench-marking and stress testing and the max is 100 and the min is , well whatever you want it idle to (edit) save power when NOT testing. I have mine set to 0 min 100 max. 4.7 at 1.266 volts isn't bad. Try 4.8 at the same and run Aida64 for a few hours and see if it A. throttles B. crashes. If not great. If it throttles consider a better cooling solution. If it does not throttle but crashes, add volts. try 1.3 thats what mine worked at. However, I backed it to stock because A. I saw very little gains in most games and even video editing and B. its hot as a mofo where I live now and my thermal headroom shrunk using a h100i v2.
  4. I replaced my dual 27in IPS 60hz 1080p monitors with a single 27 TN 1440p 144hz gsync (the dell). Great monitor. Love it. I really miss having 2 though I used the second one for hardware monitoring, Netflix while gaming, YT while gaming, multi chrome browsing. Now that I am down to a single display it took a minute to get used to it. I have been using my phone and sometime laptop as the "second" display tossing on the background video or what have you. My question is: I want a second display but...can I mix and match resolutions refresh rates and 'under the hood tech' features with no issues in windows 10 with a GTX 980? I can not afford a second monitor of this exact same type nor would I want one for what it would be doing. I really just need a decent quality 1080p 60hz display but in the past I had run into issues running mis matching refresh rates before. Thanks!
  5. Yea I agree. I wasn't even bothered by the Ryzen 5 thing that much because I came to expect it. I just saw a lot more people start to realize this channel built with so much heart and passion is slowly turning into the thing we all dislike from the "other" big channels
  6. Well I catered so what is your opinion ?
  7. dell s2716dg I own it. Love it. 1440p. 144hz gsync. I got it on sale for $500 at Microcenter. It IS a TN. However, I am a HUGE IPS fan and this is pretty darn close and tbh I can't really tell the diff with the ICC profile set. I think it is a good buy
  8. First please read: I like LTT. I support the channel. I promote the channel. I bought a mug and a t shirt and I generally enjoy the content. I am simply expressing my disappointment with the way the channel has been lately. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. OK I like LTT and have been a fan for awhile. Lately though, those thumbnails have been annoying with his stupid expressions. The click bait titles and click bait thumbnails have seemingly gotten worse. To me its like they forgot that it was their honest hard work and heart that sold a lot of people to the channel. To me anyway it seems since he has hired like 20 people to run channels with 5 millions subs total (both Techquickie and LTT) they appears to be solely motivated to sell views not quality. Let me be clear: There is NOTHING wrong with them making money. I do find it to be a bit foolhardy to hire so many people when the channel really is not THAT big compared to other tech channels of similar size. Here is my Apples to Oranges comparison, if you'll bear with me... Look at Austin Evans - 2 millions subs and he works with 2-3 other people. They get almost the same amount of views per video ie - Videos up for 6 days 640,00 views for Austin vs Videos up for 7 days get 725,000 on LTT. YES I realize LTT makes videos more frequently, but my point is, Austin and LTT are not that far off from each in views per and total subs. Austin , to me, has stuck to his guns, and makes a consistent product. LTT has gotten away from thier core and it really feels like they make videos for kids almost. Teens and young adults. Its not like I think they "sold out" I don't. But I feel like they will do anything for views whereas before it felt that videos were produced with a "how do I make this the best it can be" mindset . I hope LTT can get back to the core. Maybe layoff a few people. I don't know. It seems since they brought on all these extra hands from the 5-10 original staff the need for $ obviously went up and content quality went down. Its all about getting views less about what they are actually making . They are on a slippery slope to becoming the Buzz Feed of tech vids. I hope they figure it out. I am rooting for them in the long term. Any thoughts
  9. Download the 3dmark demo from steam. The heaven or valley no real need for both IMO Also Realbench is cool but can be glitchy so you might have to run it 3x to get legit results. Cinebench and the unigene heaven and valley ones were mentioned above are good ones to run. If you own Hitman, Rise of the tomb raider, bioshock infinite these games and many others have graphical benchmarks you can run, tweak settings, run again etc. Benchmarking is used for results meaning... If you use for pc for gaming for example, you'll likely want the highest fps at the best detail settings at the highest resolution possible. So you configure your games at a baseline setting. Get it so you have the highest fps you're happy with and run your baseline benchmark. The overclock your gpu cpu ram etc. Run stability tests to ensure overclocks are workable...then benchmark again. Compare results.
  10. Yea that is true. I got bit by the upgrade bug and with the little price drop on the i7 I started to toy with idea
  11. What would you recommend? I had been looking at the 460X at around $150 but a lot of the reviews seem hit and miss on different issues (springs pushing ssds out, nothing but screws holding in glass) I have a 200r I am not reusing but I want to get a nice full atx case this go around. Something easier to work in but still looks nicer than a plain black box. Does not have to flashy alienware looking nonsense just nice.
  12. I don't like the price of the case either BUT I have a corsair case now, I trust them and more specifically I've researched this case and found it to have everything I would want. TBH I love my current case ( 200r) but I want something bigger and I really like the doors. I am not sure I understand about the RAM? I have it set with 8x2 16gb ddr-4 2400 . The only reason I didn't go with EVGA same clock at 100 was it wasn't on the mobo support list and I didn't want to chance it plus I trust kingston. I have a gtx 980 g1 gaming now I would be adding to this build
