I have alot of tabs open, about 10? Sometimes it goes up to 40%, but all of a sudden disk usage spikes up. i can hear the hard drive spinning more faster in the laptop. this is a hp laptop. help please.

Do you think its the virtual memory causing the problem? I don't think this laptop should be this slow. I got it from costco it has 12 gb ram 750gb hard drive and i5 processor. Why is chrome;s memory dropping down to 0.1mb? isnt it because of virtual memory?

I have 12 GB of RAM, but I found out that my system only allowed 6. I only have a hard drive so things get really slow. Even Windows freezes up. I noticed in task manager that some programs memory usage drops as low as 0.1. When I try to load that app, everything gets really slow. When I googled the problem, I found out that you needed to allow 3 times as much memory. Is this right? Please help, this is a new computer. My minimum is 16mb, the recommended is 4597mb and 6400mb is currently allowed. -B.M <3
