try and remove the battery from the motherboard, remove the power line from the case and let it for about 2-3 minutes to completely dischardge from any electrical charge that the capacitors may have kept. put the battery back on and try to power it up. Also use a PS/2 keyboard not a USB one  after the steps above in order to try and enter the bios. Many times USB keyboards AND USB devices in general just won't work and can cause the system to crash even before POST.

try it and let me know.

if you are to set many VMs (as in more than 1) on one physical machine then you will need a multicore CPU definatelly, a ton of RAM and lots of disk space.
Since getting hardware (enterprise grade) can be quite expensive, I'd recommend to build your own server with high quality parts. If you can get your hands on a Xeon CPU and ECC ram even better. It will give you more reliability.
Also keep in mind that if you setup VMs with Linux as the guest OS, I highly recommend to set it up with console only and manage it with webmin and console, as GUI tends to be a resource hogger.
That way, you'll be able to save money instead of go and buy a new server, OR, you can check up on the net for refurbished previous generation servers. For the things you have to do, you don't need a State of the art machine.
Most of them are expandable regarding memory, NICs and hard drives.

This is wrong. A RAID 5 requires a minimum of 3 disks to create and can only withstand 1 drive failure regardless of the number of disks in the array.

Just like stated above, the best chair is the one that makes you feel comfortable after many hours on it.

Liquid cooling is a "hobby" as I could say. It is very efficient, yes, especially when you want to overclock and at high clocks as well, but it needs careful planning and implementation when it comes to DIY. If you simply want an efficient liquid-cooled system with no, or the least possible worries, then you could go with an AIO solution. There are AIO solutions for CPUs and GPUs as well.

Also, based on the above comment, SSDs should NOT be defragmented. Basically for 2 reasons....one, for the life span and two, because they do not need defrag.
