  2. At CES 2017 (january), Lenovo showed off a small multimedfia keyboard. The Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller (link). But since then: Nothing. Does anyone know what happned?
  3. Only with the specific Acer laptop. With the Acer turned off, the network and the rest of its devices run fine.
  4. Hi all I'm trying to help a family member figure a problem out. When her pc connects to her home wifi, every other device if thrown off (disconnected). At the same time, her own connection is not stable. They bought a new router to handle the problem, and this helped for a while, but now the problem is back. The weirdest part is that she is only experiencing the problem at home, and no other places. She is rocking a brand new Acer ultrabook with Windows 10 Any idea why?

I think that I have reached a solution. I will go for the Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC PRO, and just add it to my current setup. My Asus RT-AC3200 does a very good job where it is now, so changing that should not be necessary. Thanks a lot for the help @Phentos and @brwainer!!

And what is the "3x3" and "2x2"?

    Need help:

Is the pro overkill then? The website says that it is a feature specific to the pro: "Simultaneous Dual-Band Wi-Fi The UniFi® AP-PRO supports up to 300 Mbps, 2x2 MIMO for the 5 GHz band and up to 450 Mbps, 3x3 MIMO for the 2.4 GHz band."

Sounds like just adding an AP without changing anything else will be a good way to go. I'm looking at the Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC PRO. I dunno if the pro is overkill? But it looks like it has some great features like simultaneous dual-band.

Do you mean, that even if I moved my router to the middle of the house, an AP would still be a good idea? Why? Would I be seeing an aditional SSID on my devices lists of networks? Would it be a good idea to disable WiFi on my current router? If I have my current router and a AP both sending out WiFi signals, do i need to manually changed what to connect to? Lots of questions ^^

I might be looking at the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter POE 5. Tho, 8 ports for future expandability would be good, and a USB port to use it as a NAS. There is a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter with 8 port, but it is WILDLY expensive, and i don't know what the USB port can do. More suggestions would be nice, to be able to compare some more. New questions pop up in my head: - Would QoS features help me any? - Would it be a bad solution to keep my setup as is, but add a WiFi extender in the other side of the house?

Thanks for the great answers! We do like my high bitrate video files and 4k streaming. Gaming at the same time is also common in the house. And with 750/750 internet the demands to the gear can be high. What about the Ubiquiti Edgerouter Lite (ERLite-3) makes it stand out? I was hoping for something with at least 5 ports (goung out to 5 seperate rooms) with maby a few for future expansion. A USB port to make a external harddrive into a NAS drive to have it with the other techical stuff would be nice too. Woud QoS features do something for me?

If I were to stream a lot of data on the LAN, perhaps a movie and a file transfer, and it pushed passed the gigabit mark (extrime, I know). Would it then add latency to a gaming session? What tools can handle a situation like that? I have a external harddrive connected to the wireless router today. If I wanted to let that stay in place and connect it to the switch instead, would the switch then have to be a router? Will connecting my existing router to a new router connected to the modem result in any problems?

    Need help:

Thanks for the answer Phentos! If I get a gigabit switch, am i right in assuming that it will never add latency no matter how many are using the internet, as long as the switches 1000Mbps is faster that the internet speed (750Mbps)? No rooms need to be on a seperate network, I just might need to split the rooms single ethernet wall plug into multiple computers.

    Need help:

Hello I have a wireless router (an Asus RT-AC3200) placed in a corner of the house. This is resulting in a poor signal in the opposite side of the house. Therefore, I want to move it closer to the middle of the house. But at the moment, it is also functioning as the splitter from the modem to the ethernet cables going to every room in the house. So, a new device will ahve to take over this role. The question then is: What? There is no need for the new device to have WiFi, I am thinking what I need is a ethernet router or a switch. But witch one, and what difference does it make in this use case? My needs is that is should be able to handle a lot of devices using a 750Mbps down and 750Mbps up internet connection. Online gaming should also run with low latency event with heavy streaming going on. So i need to go from this: Modem | Wireless Router / | \ Room 1 Room 2 Room3 To this: Modem | [NEED HELP HERE] / | \ Room 1 Room 2 Room3 | Wireless Router So, to sum up: What hardware should I buy? What difference will it make if it is a router or a switch? Bonus question: If more that one device in a room need wired internet, how best to split it?
  15. This would be so sweet in the man cave of our new house! Looks amazing!
  16. So, quick question. I have a Asus z97 PRO (WiFi ac) motherboard. On that is M.2 and a Sata express connectors, both advertised to run at 10 Gb/s and not the standard 6 Gb/s. So my question is: What is the fastest SSD that I could utilize? Thanks in advance!
  17. Without knowing the date this monitor would be available, I checked the status before driving home from work. I was VERY happy to see that it was available! But sadly, as soon as I got home, is was sold out -.- Ordered one anyway, and it might be in stock on monday. I hope it is, and i can't wait!
  18. Well, Acer have had a monitor wiht the same specs (144hz, not 144+hz. And no HDMI port), but with lots of glossy plastic, and a lower level of build quality. I too have been waiting for theis monitor for a long time! An IPS (and the like), compared to TN, is "just" another panel type. The advantages is vastly better viewing angels where the colors pretty much dont shift even when looking at the screen from extreme angels. The colors in them selves is much better and a lot more vibrent. Over all a much better picture. The drawbacks however, is slower response times, thow no longer noticeable (4 vs 1 ms), and untill resently, not available with high refresh rates. This is ofc very simplified This monitor brings the disadvantages to a neglitable level in my opinion.
  19. Well, aside from the on screen image, there is no lies
  20. In Denmark they bumped the price 400 kr. (about 60 USD) as well. Still ordered one tho! Can't wait!!!
  21. Seems like we are pretty different use cases When I do move my arm (doing a 180 in a fps for example), I do sometimes use a decent amount of space (a little less than a standart Steelseries QcK mat), and having a cable thrown around in that case bothers me. Also, its nice to be able to use my mouse from a different part of the desk when browsing the net ^^
  22. Well... as much as I hate wireless in almost ALL cases, what I hate even more is managing and dragging around a cable on my desk. I don't like looking at it eighter! Using fingertip grip, I mostly don't use any arm movements to move and I dont have a very ferm grip on the mouse, but just moving my fingers. This makes cord drag a much bigger issue! Also, a good wIreless mouse today perform identical to wired mice in any measurable way.
  23. Oh, I did not see the DPI (reprogrammable ofc) button. makes it much more compelling indeed! Well, fingertip users is less than 20% og gamers, but those 20% have pretty much nothing to choose between. If a extra feature compromise something else, then no, it is not a good thing. But if a feature you don't need can be ignored with no downside, I dont think many would care. A G702 would be AMAZING. I have tried mice from many brands, but I allway come back to Logitech. But lately, they have not made anything that interested me. The G602 came close, but it has a few flaws from my perspective. The sensor and the HUGE thumb rest for example.
  24. And that is my problem. No one really makes something like this. Almost. It only lacks the thumb buttons. That feature really narrows it down to 0 -.- Agree! If anyone made a really good mouse in that category, I think it would sell a lot! To be honest, I know my requirements are strict, and a most people would not care about all of them. But if anyone managed to make something like that and really pull it off, it would be a big hit! No one would be turned off by having more features than they need ^^ They sure do! They have refreshed the whole lineup up to G60x, but not the G700. I hope that it is coming and I hope it will be good!
