  1. Hello! I just need recommendations on a build I am currently working on please, before making it final decision. 1. Budget & Location I would like to keep this build under $1,500.00 USD. I want to stay with nvidia, the case, and dvd drive. I have selected them for personal preferences only. Everything else I would change for the better. Also, I plan on purchasing from Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy. They are preferred and selected for a more ideal realistic pricing on pcpartpicker list. 2. Aim Purpose for this build is primarily gaming. Running games on 1080p around 60 fps on games, such as Overwatch, FarCry, Battlefield, Terra, and Mobas. 3. Monitors One monitor at 1080p only. 4. Peripherals I do also need a gaming mechanical keyboard and a good gaming mouse, any recommendations would be good that will not break the budget by too much. 5. Why are you upgrading? Simply just need a new gaming computer. Here is the pcpartpicker link as of now: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bqbtmG Also, how much of a difference would a liquid cooled cpu make vs an air cooled cpu make. Is liquid cooled unnecessary? Thank you for all and any help/recommendations!
  2. I feel that way too. I'm not sure how much it will actually benefit from DDR4 and Skylake. I know they are a lot more expensive also.
  3. What is this? I have not heard of this before, like new series of GPUs for nvidia and amd? If so, what is the Nvida new gpu and price range? Thank you!
  4. What is the main difference between the i7 4790k and the 6700k? Isn't the 4790k better in performance? Or am I wrong, I'm not sure what I am missing since everyone on this thread recommended the Skylake series. According to Cpu Boss, the 4790k seems better all around. Also, shouldn't the Skylake and 4790k be liquid cooled? Or is it also just overkill and unnecessary? Thank you for your help! Nvidia isn't necessary, but I would like to stick with it because of problems I've heard of with amd that I would just like to avoid. and dvd writer is mostly for windows installation. Thank you for that monitor recommendation, I do like it alot! Thanks! Same question for you too, what advantage does the Skylake offer over the 4790k? In comparison to me, the 4790k seems better, unless I am missing a feature I am not taking account of, any information would be greatly appreciated thanks! Ha thanks, I tried to make it easier for people to reply and give suggestions. I do however want to stick with a full tower, did leave that bit of information out aswell. Also, same thing, wouldn't the Skylake need to be water cooled for best performance? Thank you for your help!
  5. Hello! I need recommendations on a build I am currently working on please, 1. Budget & Location $1,500 USD is what I would like to spend on this build. Need mouse and keyboard still, can be slightly over budget with adding keyboard and mouse. 2. Aim Purpose for this build is gaming. Running games on 1080p around 60 fps on games such as Overwatch, FarCry, Battlefield, Terra, and Mobas. 3. Monitors One monitor at 1080p 4. Peripherals I do also need a gaming mechanical keyboard and a good gaming mouse, any recommendations would be good that will not break the budget by too much. 5. Why are you upgrading? Need a new gaming computer. Here is the pcpartpicker link as of now: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RrXcQ7 Thank you for all and any help/recommendations!
  6. Yes, the monitors are fine, I've used them on my old build.
  7. Issue: My computer is detecting my secondary monitor as a generic non pnp monitor, when it is the exact same as my primary monitor. I am connecting both monitors HDMI and It will not let me change the screen resolution on my secondary monitor because it reads it as a "Generic Non-pnp monitor". I have done several hours of research about this problem and yet to find a solution, although this issue seems to be somewhat common I've yet to find a solution. I've tried things such as drivers updates, uninstalls, reinstalls of the monitor, several full power cycles and unplugs and nothing seems to be working. I want to get new monitors but I want to fix this issue before doing so. So I came here since I can't find a solution Specs: I am running Windows 8.1 Here is my current full build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g9cM23 MSI X99 MPower G. Skill DDR4 16GB 2666 Asus GTX 970 2 way SLI EVGA G2 750w PSU My Bios version is ALASKA-1072009 9-18-14 Thanks, all help is appreciated on this frustrating issue!
  8. no I was comparing the reviews on newegg and amazon
  9. All you changed was the HD? I purposely chosen the Toshiba because with 10$ I get a more reliable brand, The reviews for the barracuda were frightening. The Toshiba choice seems worth it to me.
  10. For gaming and photoshop editing. 3x 1080p monitors only But wouldn't I want the GPU's to be running on 16 lanes each? They can't because this cpu is only 28 lanes apparently, that's why the complaints are they can only run at 8 lanes each, when I would figure I would want them at 16 lanes each. Yes I know nothing about lanes that's why i'm asking
  11. Someone told me that 750w wasn't enough "headroom" so i changed it to an 850w bcus they work better at 80% so I was hoping that this was enough, and they said to make sure it's a G2. So i just took their advice, unless anyone else has any, cus I'm not too sure.
  12. Here's my build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7P4pNG People are complaining about this CPU with 2 GPU because it only has 28 lanes and advertises 40 lanes, would this be bad to get for my set up? I'm unsure how lanes work with GPU and the differences and stuff, and help is really appreciated thanks! Complaint: "28 lanes. Not even enough for two PCI-E x16 to run at full bandwidth. I'm trying to SLI two EVGA GTX 980s and use an x1 audio card, oops, not enough proc; I thought this was an i7. I know the title has nothing to do with the number of lanes, but there's an expectation with an i7 that is simply not met by this proc. It's great for the price, but buyers beware the limitations [...] because of this I cant run my two GPU's at full 16x I have to run them at 8x." Should I not get this Cpu then for my build? I want to get the most out of this build that I can, not have to run it at lower settings.
  13. You think it will be bad to spend the extra 15$ now for an 850w? even if i don't think ill upgrade later, money isn't an issue
