ThomasD got a reaction from romanon in Thick or thin thermal pads?
Thermals pads do not dissipate heat - they conduct it.

So, in principle for best cooling thinner is better - the shorter the conduit from the heat source to the heat sink the better the transfer will be.

However, when there are uneven surfaces - like the varying height of multiple VRMs the last thing you want is a pad that does not make good contact between them and the sink plate, which explains the need for thicker pads - being somewhat compressible they help compensate for the variations.

So, whenever possible, go with the thinnest pads that you are confident will provide good contact on all necessary surfaces.

Easy or hard, they are dirtbags improperly exploiting other people for personal gain.

That's at least the second time you have greatly misrepresented what I said.

    Here is my FULL quote

YOU are the one who has chosen to focus on only ONE possible answer (guess actually.)

You might have more credibility if you wouldn't grossly misrepresent people to the point of dishonesty.  But, given your overall behavior in this thread I do not think it likely.

And here's ONE MORE bit of speculation on my part.  Maybe Obama didn't remove Comey because he knew the FBI never really investigated the DNC hack and didn't want his replacement to actually conduct a real investigation.

    http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/312767-fbi-never-examined-hacked-dnc-servers-report#

“The DNC had several meetings with representatives of the FBI’s Cyber Division and its Washington (D.C.) Field Office, the Department of Justice’s National Security Division, and U.S. Attorney’s Offices, and it responded to a variety of requests for cooperation, but the FBI never requested access to the DNC’s computer servers,” DNC deputy communications director Eric Walker told BuzzFeed in an email."

How do you conduct an investigation without looking at the actual scene of the crime???

I would also add "and how much you would like to get for your old card."

Because the 1060, only being better with 'older' games, will probably have lower resale value, especially given the common belief that Nvidia isn't great about supporting their older products.

lmao I have an i7 with a 1060. To be fair, I can afford to get a more expensive GPU, I simply don't get to use my PC as much as I'd like due to work and tend to upgrade every 4ish years so I went with an i7 and will upgrade the GPU and monitor sometime 2017 when the new gen comes out.

I agree, (although my current rig is 4790k/1070.)   Your monitor and the sorts of games you prefer might mean there is no appreciable benefit to be gained from a more expensive GPU.

I upgrade GPUs about once every 2-3 years, but prefer my CPU to last at least five.

You do know that the FBI is under the Department of Justice, part of the Executive branch, right?  A branch currently headed by Barack Obama, President of the United States...

Or that the FBI and the CIA also agreed that Iraq had WMDs prior to the Iraq war, right?

Pretty much.  The FBI does not prosecute.  They make referrals to the DOJ and the DOJ decides whether or not to prosecute.

The person is wanting to do the opposite of the Petlier effect. Condensation wouldn't be an issue here.

Though if I were to make a comment, the system would only work in cold ambient temperatures where cooling doesn't really matter as much. You want the system to work in hotter ambient temperatures, except in hotter ambient temperatures, there's less of a temperature difference and therefore, less power to work with.

More importantly, do the major media players enjoy the luxury of picking and choosing which events they totally ignore?  Because worse than the insane BS flowing from vague, or obviously biased sources is the actual facts and events that you do not hear about because someone decided they didn't want you to hear about it.

No. Because there's no such thing as a hyperthreaded core. There's just one physical core, which can address two threads. Neither of those threads is any more "real" than the other one.

ThomasD reacted to dfsdfgfkjsefoiqzemnd in Do you really need case fans?
More isn't that effective in terms of reducing temperature.  However 8 fans running on idle will provide roughly as much airflow as 3 fans running at high RPM while making a hell of a lot less noise.
