  1. What sort of performance difference would I see between a 7700hq and a 6820hk? I'm not super familiar with laptop cpus. also, holy crap 9.5lbs sounds like a fat bastard. The hat does look cool, and I think it comes with both options you listed.
  2. So I'm Looking to buy myself a laptop before I head to college in September and I've got one in mind but I was wondering if there are better options out there. The one that seemed the best price and specs wise is the HP Omen 17t with the GTX 1070 option and the 1tb hdd and 512gb NVMe m.2 ssd and all the other hardware specs at their base. This is the only laptop that I can find with the specs that I want and at the price that I'm comfortable with. I've looked around but the only other options I can find either don't have the storage combination that I want or are way out of my price range (<$1900). Are there any other laptops similar to this one that you guys would recommend?
  3. Does it matter that it's a prebuilt? Would if have some proprietary software or something preventing any other OS besides what it came with which was Windows?
  4. I do have lubuntu on a disk I'll try that, does that mean Debian wont work on this pc? There arent that many options in the bios let alone windows options.
  5. Okay so I have an old $500 prebuild from CyberpowerPC, it was my first "gaming" rig, and now my friends and I are trying to set up some dedicated servers on it but there's been an issue. Its running an FX-4300 on an 760GM-P22 mobo, with the Toshiba HDD that it came with that I know for a fact works. I tried to install Debian onto it and it seemed to work, but when it boots, it just goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor on it. The HDD is registered and selected as the main boot drive, and when installing Debian from a disk, it registers and installs it on the HDD. I'm out of ideas and I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be great.
  6. Im trying to help a friend upgrade his cpu from his 7-year old Phenom ii X2 and Im wondering if an FX-6300 or an FX-4300 will work with the mobo he has, link to his mobo here.
  7. I feel like I have ample cooling, since its the Tri-X edition, so it doesn't get super hot under load, and how exactly should I go about increasing the voltage as far as increment size?
  8. So as I've been looking into overclocking my 290x, I couldnt help but notice how much higher core clock speeds and memory speeds people were getting, while the highest I can get is 1100mhz core and 1330mhz on my memory using Sapphire TRIXX. If I try to go over either the core or memory speeds after that point, I get crashes and/or artifacting when I run games or Firestrike. This is however without touching the VDDC offset slider, which I'm not quite sure how to use. I'm wondering if thats the best im going to get out of my card, or should I use a different overclocking utility like MSI Afterburner? Or maybe there's something else I could do, any help or suggestions on this would be awesome.

  10. Hi I just recently built my first computer, and I've been having some issues with Metro LL. I've been getting sub 10 fps constantly even when I turn down the settings all the way. I have the latest drivers for my gpu and I cant seem to find a solution. Any help would be very much appreciated. Specs CPU: i5-4690k not overclocked RAM: 16 gigs of DDR3 @ 1833Mhz GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 290x Mobo: MSI Z97 Krait Edition As far as I know the hardware I have should be more than enough to run Metro with at least 60fps on high, but maybe I'm wrong.
