I would say a single 980 ti at 3440x1440 is really one of the best case scenarios for taking advantage of gsync. Frame rates will dip below 60 frequently at that resolution and gsync will make that more tolerable. The xr341ck would be a waste if you're not going to take advantage of freesync so I would rule that out. I think you really have two options here. You can get the x34 and let gsync smooth out frame rate dips or you could get a second 980 ti and pair it with a 60hz monitor and run your games with vsync on. You're spending about the same amount of money either way.

If the amp is changing the SQ then it's a bad/broken amp.  All an amp does is boost volume so if it's loud enough with what you have, don't buy an amp.

You're right about that.  Mining adds a record of each transaction to the total "block chain" of the network.  This allows transactions to be confirmed but isn't the process of actually confirming transactions.  Also thinking of bitcoin as a commodity rather than a currency is more in line with it's design.  It is more similar to gold than currency because of how it is created.  Mining is called so because a certain amount of work needs to be done to create new coins similar to how mining actual gold slowly makes more available to the market.

The value of bitcoin comes from the same place the value of USD/Euro/GBP or any other fiat currency.  They are not backed by anything but the confidence that they have a value and can be used for purchases.  Bitcoin's value is determined by scarcity and trade volume.  It is probably more comparable to a stock  or commodity than it is to a currency in the patterns of it's value.

What you're doing while mining is confirming transactions that are happening in the network.  Each time a trade is made transaction blocks need to be solved to confirm the transaction and permanently record it in the bitcoin (or whatever coin) network.  Everyone mining acts as the network infrastructure and keeps the flow of coin transactions going.

You could still make use of 4k for desktop yluse if not for gaming. You could play in 1080p or even 1440p with scaling and just use 4k for productivity. The extra pixels are more useful for the desktop real estate than for gaming to be honest.

The biggest difference is that what and is using is a standard so any manufacturer should be able to use it without partnering with amd or making any sort of deal with them.

No high end card is really worth it.  You could say the same thing about 780ti.  Best bang for the buck is always around the $200 - $300 mark.

MSRp for the 280x is $300.  If you picked up a 7970 right before the 280x came out you could have picked one up for around $270.  It's completely ridiculous seeing them now priced at over $400 and people are still buying them to mine.

It's not open source and it is also specific to GCN gpus.  It is an open standard that anyone can develop on but the source is not available.  Anyone is allowed to use it but not allowed to change it.  AMD pretends to play nice a lot better than nvidia.  Nvidia justs says this is ours and no one else can have it while AMD says you can use it, but you won't cause it won't work well for you.

I think you're grossly over analyzing a lot of these things. With regards to freesync they did say they were glad nvidia realized this as a potential gaming feature and showed it to illustrate it as a possibility for all GPUs and displays in the future with display port 1.3. Also I don't understand all of the people upset about the 290x and it being a "titan killer". All a card had to do to be a titan killer was perform better for less money which the 290x did. It may have only beat it by 5% or less but when it costs almost half the price how is that not killing the titan? I would call the titan "dead" if it performed the same and cost $100 less.
