First things first, both are optical, and image correlation sensors, the difference is just simply the illumination source, the PTE is an exception to that though as it uses two VCSEL's(one for x, one for y) and the "doppler shift" to determine travelled distance.

    I just quote myself:

Which would be the case with the A9500, A9800 and all of its offsprings, A6010 and A6090 on the other hand have lower resolution errors, though they have other problems.

Edit: Oh, and ofc the surface also plays a part in that regard.

woll3 got a reaction from DustHaze in COUGAR 230M VS Roccat Lua which one to buy?
The 230m uses 3307 and the Lua the 3050, the Lua will offer better performance, however the Lua is insanely tiny, while the 230m is on the other Spectrum for an ambidextrous mouse, unless you need a malfunction speed over 2m/s i would let the shape decide.

So i would suggest to get a Rival 100 instead as it nearly performs the same as the Lua without being tiny, it should be available for around 25-30€ atm as they need to clear the stock for the Rival 110.

If you can scramble just 3 euros more together the 250m would be a decent option, not sure about delivery fees though.

The Bloody V3m is using 3305 and suffers from the same problem as the 230m.
The Ozone Neon 3k would be an Option, it uses 3320 but unfortunately its FW is rather bad, so its malfunction speed is just above 2m/s, more than the 230m and V3m, but still nothing i can recommend comfortably, still it might be your best choice if the 250m is too expensive.

3050 wasnt available when this was released , its using 3060 and loads the 3080 SROM for 1600cpi.

Anything besides 400, 800 and 1600cpi is MCU calculated, has angle snapping, on the plus side the debounce time and therefore button "lag" is low, all in all its definitely better than buying some office stuff for that price, and depending on if someone takes an issue with anglesnapping it might be even better than current 3050 offerings as 3060/3080 offers a better cursorpath.

Let Shape decide, G403 only has a slight edge in terms of performance, clicks are imo better as well, but that is preference.

As for OP, i would take the Glaive out of the equation given its price and Corsairs history in terms of FW.

Few Options from the top of my head:

    Logitech G900 (over budget though)
    ROG Sica
Roccat Kiro (A3050, so only up to 1000cpi really useable, also heavy for its size)
Roccat Lua (A3050, so only up to 1000cpi really useable)
    Razer Abyssus
    Logitech G100s
the new Deathadder 3500 with PMW3320

woll3 got a reaction from Ryujin2003 in How to know if mouse is laser or optical?
Well, first things first, all Sensors are optical, you can split them up into image correlation sensors illuminated either via VCSEL(laser) or LED, or Philips Twin Eye, which uses the "doppler shift method", fundamentally both illumination methods of the first group works in the same ways as its "just a camera and a dsp comparing pictures"in both cases, to the point where for example 3310 and 3988/3989 are based on 9800 despite using different illumination methods, the difference lies in how much of the structure is being seen by the IAS, which depending on the useage scenario can be an advantage or not, for accurate distance measuring LED illumination is preferable.

As for PTE, this basically explains what you need to know:
    http://www.photonics.philips.com/pdf/VCSEL-based_miniature_laser-Doppler_interferometer.pdf

    Edit:

That btw isnt true as LED´s can emit IR light as well.

Low speed precision and array size is worse as well, but  its a budget product compared to the Pro, and quite ahead of the sub 40$ competition.

woll3 got a reaction from mmaatt747 in Why can mice be that expensive?
Other people have already mentioned it.

Logitech designs the product, writes the Firmware, basically designed the Sensor on their own, uses ARM MCU´s from ST, using molded rubber instead of glueing rubber on costs more, so on and so forth.

The Sentey Revolution on the other Hand is a completely done OEM Product, Sentey only orders the Mouse with their Logo on it, and thats it. That design in particular has also been sold by other brands, like for example by Cyber Snipa as the Silencer, or by Ace of Sweden as the EDGE 3200, or by Revoltec as the Fightmouse Elite, so on and so forth.

TBH its rather bad value for money atm, the Devastator II which is the one with the A3050 is a 100 Ringgit more than the G102, and the first Devastator(PAW3309) is even below Redragon tier.

It would perform better than the other options, but for that price it makes no sense compared to the 102, which performs better than the G100S.

    ?

The Original Devastator has, as said, the PAN/PAW3509: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img540/428/rR3rmu.jpg

Exactly, and the G102 performs better than the G100s, meaning that you would get more for your money with the 102.

Looks like the marketing team fd up to me(happens more often than one would think), for example A3050 doesnt even have a 800cpi step, 3509 on the other hand actually does.

Well, DB is using Twin Eye, which just sucks after its 5600cpi iteration due to the CPI damping, DA 2013/Chroma has also higher motion latency than the G303, and with the DA Elite you are stuck with Synapse as it doesnt save CPI steps.

I would say save up/spend 10$ more and get the G403, which has a similar 3.0 style shape to the Deathadder, and is also a lot lighter than the 502.

Its just simply a newer product, G403´s MSRP is actually 20 money lower than the 502.

Other than that it depends what kind of featureset and shape you want, G403(which actually is weight adjustable) has less features but is a lot lighter than the G502, which is important to most "serious" and/or low sensitvity players, also the buttons on the G403 are a tad better and arent rattling due to the spring retaining system. In terms of performance there has only been a miniscule difference.
