  1. First of all congratulations on the 1 million sub milestone! Second, I found LinusTechTips one late night while browsing youtube trying to figure out what parts I should put into my first home built PC. Since the first video I fell in love with the channel mostly because of Linus's awesome personality. Keep up the great work I look forward to every new video!
  2. I think your best bet is to check the hardware manufacturer for you laptop and look for you laptops model number. You should be able to find driver downloads for your wireless card. If not you can usually get the model of the specific wireless card and you can search for that.
  3. Crossover cables are used in cases when a device is connected directly to another "like" device, such as router to router, switch to switch or pc to pc. This however is not always true as Auto-MDIX on a modern NIC should handle that issue.
  4. I feel ya. I live in Iowa in the country and I've had 512kb DSL internet for years.
  5. It depends on what software you're using. If you're going to be using software like Premiere Elements or a more simple video editor, you should be just fine. More RAM also can help for rendering plus it's pretty cheap. The processor should be alright, though of course if you want to make the system better a faster CPU would probably be the way to go.
  6. What versions of Windows are you using? To backup over a network you need to have the professional versions and above to use the built it backup functions in Windows
  7. I do love having the convenience of digital games and movies, but I love having a physical game collection to show them off.
  8. Personally I don't need 1TB of storage for my main system drive. I use a home server to store all of my photos/music/videos. I have a 256GB SSD for my OS and a 2 TB drive for steam games
  9. Try downloading the latest drivers for your network card, sometimes driver issues cause the weirdest issues. Also check to make sure your cable to your router/modem is in good condition.
  10. It could be possible with developers making use of the 8 cores in the PS4 that the developers will start taking advantage of the extra cores or hyperthreaded cores on the PC. Is it likely? Can't really say for sure, I'm guessing the spare cores will be utilized by other system processes such as a global voice chat (which the ps3 lacks).
  11. I wouldn't mind an upgrade for my rig. My old AMD chip doesn't handle cpu intensive games that well anymore...
  12. Glad to be here! I'm hoping to see some good discussions and maybe help a few people while I'm here.
