  1. Dan.

    Corsair or Noctua

Linus did a fan comparison a while ago. He made 3 graphs of the results: http://i.imgur.com/L8uvRzw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/30KH9lV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UFZlxxk.jpg As seen in the last graph, the corsair quiet editions are quieter than the noctua's. But if you look in the second graph, you also lose a little bit of performance.
  2. With the new golden color scheme, someone should do something with these. (As I am not the one with the money here :P ) Phobya balancer 150-250 gold Monsoon compression fittings
  3. Sooo good. Love the colors and the custom backplate + basement cover. Great job :D And why did you choose not to use the monsoon fittings you pictured earlier?
  4. Do I see VGA on the deluxe board...? :o C'mon Asus... Edit: On second thoughts, it's the Pro that's has VGA output, not the Deluxe.
  5. The 660 should perform better than the 560ti, so I recommend to check your drivers before anything else.
  6. If the coil whine always occurs after a slight adjustment, doesn't matter which setting, I don't think you have another option other than to RMA it because it is now really hard to find where the coil whine comes from. :( But don't quote me on that, others might have a solution. And do you have in your bios all the power settings on 'stable'? By that I mean that you don't use an option like power saving, since it causes power fluctuations.
  7. Those psu's are good ones, so nothing to worry there :) The only thing that's left is the gpu itself. I don't have experience with coil whine from gpu's myself, so I can only repeat what I find on the web. Trying some stuff won't hurt anybody so here a few solutions from other people: http://www.overclock.net/t/1259672/7970-coil-whine-a-way-to-fix-it-solved http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/284396-29-followup-coil-whine-possible-solution And something I once read was to undo the cooler from the pcb and reattach it. Really hope this will work for you :)
  8. That motherboard seems fine. The only thing that is left is the gpu itself, but from other people's problems with the 7970 it seems it's mostly caused the psu. The strange thing is, however, that you already tested it with 2 psu's. Just to be sure: which psu's did you test? If those are good quality psu's it is probably caused by the gpu. You don't have to move this post to Troubleshooting, this subforum is also for problems with gpu's
  9. Oh, that's strange. And which motherboard do you have? Maybe it has something to do with that.
  10. Try your 7970 in another PCI slot, the gpu sits probably close to the audio section of the board.
  11. The BitFenix spectre pro is 25mm, the Cooler Master Megaflow 30mm. These will probably fit, but to be sure you can measure the stock fan.
  12. The Corsair SP120 (Static Pressure, good for heatsinks) is a great fan, comes in three colors including red. It's quite pricey though.
