  1. I learned something new today ? thank you!
  2. omgggggg I never knew that ? I always thought it pushed out hot air facing from the fan... ?
  3. Hey everyone, So I was planning on building a new PC in the ITX form factor and when I was looking for a case I decided on this https://www.newegg.com/p/2AM-000Z-00051 It says I have room for two 120mm fans at the bottom of the case under the GPU, but I was wondering wouldn't it create negative airflow? If the GPU is exhausting hot air and the fan is taking in fresh, wouldn't that suffocate the GPU? Here's a pic for example https://www.dvhardware.net/news/2019/lian_li_tu150-2.jpg If it were a blower style GPU I guess it would be ok, but I plan on keeping my EVGA GTX 1060 6gb, so it would be blowing air down. If I'm just not understanding something any opinions are appreciated!
  4. ok thank you, will consider those was considering doing an itx build though but not too sure...
  5. Oops when I first made this account I was using two PC's at the time, built a haswell system for cousin when I was living with them for 2 months
  6. Hi everyone, So I think it's about time I upgrade/update my setup. I've been using the 2600 since launch and I think I need to move on to another platform. When I first got it it was used strictly for gaming, but when live streaming was getting more popular I would stream/record/edit now and then. I think it's starting to show it's age when I realized the CPU usage has been getting over 70% when gaming and doing light multitasking. I've been thinking of getting either the Ryzen 3600 or the 3700x but wasn't entirely too sure. I'm going for longevity and was thinking the 3700x, but the 3600 is just hard to pass up. I don't think 4 cores are even obsolete and I thought 6 cores would be ok for gaming/multitasking, but when I think in the long run the 3700x might just be overall better? And then I couldn't pick between which kind of am4 mobo to get... the x570 is for the future but the cost is just a huge turnoff. Yikes didn't mean to draw out this intro to a topic lol was just typing down my thoughts. Then there's the 4000 series coming out later this year too...What do yall think? Opinions are appreciated!!!
  7. Ah was looking into an rx 580 but the rx 500 series dont properly work on the older optiplexes cause of their uefi bios
  8. Hey everyone, Was looking into getting a used 1060 for an aging optiplex system for a friend and was wondering how much I should spend up to? Was thinking maybe no more than 140$? Not sure so I wanted your opinions. Thanks in advance!
  9. Hey everyone! I've got a friend who has been gaming on an i7 2600 for the past decade and I was telling him he should upgrade. I suggested the new Ryzen 3600 and he's all for it but he insists on holding onto his GTX 1050 TI. I thought it would be a conscious choice since the CPU could hold out for another decade and he can snag a newer GPU along the way. Would my friend see any framerate increases on just upgrading to the 3600 and new platform? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hi everyone, I recently got the go to update to Windows 10, however whenever I try to update , it always reboots back to the desktop with my current version of Windows installed. I did some digging around and apparently, my PC is missing some key OS files, and I assume I can't upgrade unless I have all the files I need. I've decided to do a reinstall of Windows, however I'm not sure how the process should go. I'm going to boot off a USB and will reinstall from there, however I'm not sure if I will need to put in my CD key again, as it should already be tied to the computer. Will I need to reactivate my CD- key if I'm reinstalling? Any help I can get is much appreciated!
  11. Ah I forgot about my warranty. I'll be sure to ring them up.
  12. Performance wise, how much less or more performance would it be compared to a GTX 970?
  13. Alright, thanks for the help!
  14. Yeah I've been thinking about that. Do you know how much less powerful it is than he 390x?
  15. Linus actually made a video for this card and says to never buy it huehue.
  16. Hi guys, Earlier today my 290x bit the dust and now I need a replacement. I was considering the GTX 960 but I realized that's a step down. I don't want to spend more than 400$ U.S for a new card. Anything out there that's the best. And for the buck? Any input I can get is greatly appreciated!
  17. Well, installing the stock cooler did not help. GPU is confirmed dead =\ Thanks for the help guys
  18. Yeah I'm working on that right meow.
  19. No I'm way past the warranty period, I had it since it first launched ahaha. Yeah, if all else fails I'll start looking into getting a replacement.
  20. Hi everyone, I was using my computer earlier and noticed my GPU fans weren't spinning. I went into MSI afterburner and indeed the fans were all set to 0. I changed the speeds manually and it seemed to work, however whenever I put it into auto mode. they just stayed at where I last set the fan to. I then shut down the computer and checked to see if the PWM fan was connected all the way to the headers which it was. Then, upon switching the PSU back on and then pressing the power button, the GPU fans spun for half a second. With an audible pop, hiss, and then a puff of smoke from the PWN wire with the wiring looking like it spit open (which upon inspecting it did) my PC shut down. Which now leads me to believe my GPU is dead, however somewhere in my mind I doubt it. What do you guys think? I've never had this happened to me before and was wondering if I can still salvage my card. Which is by the way an MSI 290X with an Arctic Accelero III aftermarket cooler. Any input and help I can get would be greatly appreciated! Attached is what the PWM wire now looks like
  21. Hi everyone, I recently got done changing the reference cooler of my 290x with an aftermarket cooler from Arctic. Cooler does what it's suposed to, however whenever I play a game or do a benchmark I start to hear coil whine. Playing games is not as noticeable, but when I benchmark it becomes much more audible. Below is a link of a video for the problem I'm currently facing. If anyone can help me solve my problem I would appreciate it very much! <removed by staff>
  22. Ahaha, no not planning on overclocking, just breaking in a friend's chip is all.
