  1. Selling a $1300 lens for $1 though. I see no way that could go wrong.
  2. I am back to fold again after years of being dark. Nice to see a serious PPD jump from my old GTX780 to my GTX 1080.
  3. I am running an i7 3770k @ 4.5 and 16gb of ram. It is working well but with the amount of photo editing I do I max out my RAM a good bit and CPU as well at times. I found an i7 3930k, 32gb ram and MoBo package for $300... Might be able to talk him down. I am a photographer and drafter/ modeler so my GPU doesn't get a lot of work anymore. I use Revit, 3ds Max, AutoCad, Lightroom, Photoshop and some others. Just wondering thoughts on upgrading to this. I do not have a budget to get anything new and don't want to spend much but it seems like a decent deal to me. But my biggest thing is my RAM getting pegged quite often, and CPU at times.
  4. I like it. The Black and white was a good choice I think. I would prefer if the line of parked cars on the left was out of it. So just be on the left side of the car looking right and not the other way around. But I wasn't there so I am not sure what is on the right side. Overall I like it. 8.5/10, easily could be higher, just the slight composition gripe I have is holding it back. Glacier Star trails by Kyle Stinson, on Flickr
  5. Honestly, what I did was I just set my camera to Manual (D7000) and went for it. I did watch YouTube and read some sites about what Aperture, ISO, shutter speed all mean and how they effect the shot. I like to learn from experience so I just did it. Also using aperture priority helped a bit just too see what the camera would choose at a given aperture.
  6. The thing with DSLRs and such is the body does not matter as much as the lenses that you put on it. I made this mistake (kinda). My first (and only) DSLR I got was a D7000. Then I got a $25 lens and a $50 Kit lens to go with it. Images do not look different from the ones taken on my friends D3300. My noise performance is a bit better but other than that, the image is coming through the same glass. It wasn't until I spend some real $ on lenses and I started to get better images. By better I mean sharper, the more $ you spend on photography does NOT directly relate to you being a better photographer. How I see it is wait to spend you money on better gear until you learn what you have now and can take amazing shots with what you have right now. A pro can take better images on a point and shoot from 10 years ago than an armature can take on a D4s with a 70-200mm 2.8 ($8400 in gear). Learn it, then spend it. Only acceptation is if you NEED to get something that you do not have yet like flashes, ultra wide or a tele lens ect...

  8. Well it will be pics in raw from a d7000. So they are high res, but Photoshop is more of a ram dependent program so I was thinking the 8gb version with the slightly better CPU would work good enough.
  9. Good idea, didn't think about that one. I will have to try that when I have the time to.
  10. Yeah, I am kinda thinking that but it still boosts to 2GHz... and the higher end is a 1.2Ghz base. Not amazing my any means but thinking it could be good enough for how little I will be editing on it. I do see your point though. Just for $700...
  11. Been a while since I have been here... Here is the thing, I have a Lenovo spec'd 4k version and I am thinking of selling it to a friend. I am not using it as I thought I was going to (IE more gaming and heavy load kinda stuff). I just came across the UX305 today and really like it. My only concern is the CPU performance with some photoshop. I have my main desktop to do all the really heavy loads and the majority of my editing but would still like to be able to edit on the go if need be. I also really like the size (its so thin!!) and battery life of the UX305 and that is a big reason I am looking at it. Along with the price. I know that it will not be anything like the quad core i7 with 16gb ram of the lenovo but I have never actually used it all on it either. So that is why I am thinking I can downgrade and be just fine. And have a bit more $ to spend on a better camera.
  12. UPS or FedEx. Both are very close to the same on time to get to my house no matter where I do shipping from in the US.

  18. Possible yes, personally I would just do a tablet install, just about the same thing, much much easier and it is meant to be portable already so powering it is not an issue at all.

  20. Nexus 7 2013, works great and I don't regret it for how well it works, I just never use it. So now it is going into the dash of my truck, the only use I have for it.
