Truthfully, ignore the 4 pin. Absolutely unnecessary and pointless. No current CPU will ever come close to hitting the current load thats available to a single 8 pin.

    NO DONT DO THAT!!
psu cables are totally different from heat shrink.
they are normal plastic and flamable. most likely to short out the psu circuit

just use some black tape instead

Any type of pull on it when training or tightening the cable will cause it to lose place and come undone. best bet may be to use a dab of some super glue or something.

primochill is decent, i've used it in the past. The temps are fine, but the biggest problem imo is that it's supposed to be replaced every 6 months, and it can still leave behind some discoloration

single > dual graphics, ALWAYS. I wouldnt, crossfire was tricky back when I was using in 2012 and I bet it still is today.

It probably can but I'd suggest getting a better psu instead. The VS series is a budget line from Corsair that I don't recommend getting if you don't have to.
This belongs in the Cases and Power Supplies section. I'm moving the thread.

The Aurum S is better and would be plenty for a 290.

Not really, I have the Z97s SLI Plus myself and am sitting at 4.5ghz @ 1.250v on my 4690k.

If the prices are about the same go for the higher you never know when you might feel froggy and decide to ramp it up.

Is Nocuta NH-U14S better than Noctua NH-D14? Btw i was looking at both of them but the color scheme is terrible...

Eh it varies because there is is reviews out there were the U14S is worse then the D14 and were the U14S is better, I have the D-14 myself and its pretty good for the overclock I have and its quiet.

Not sure if you're gonna get that high of an overclock on air cooling alone but yes the motherboard's capabilities will make it possible. Yes you will be able to add another 290 down the road and no I dont really expect a bottleneck out of this CPU in crossfire

yeah definitely but when I viewed a benchmark of the 120k and I saw it losing to some air coolers. So I'd suggest prolly the Corsair H50 instead, its around the same price tag

The 4690K already boosts past 3.7GHz  on it's own

Four phase just means the power delivery goes through 4 different "phases" capacitors and whatnot before being delivered to components for more stable power.

With that current set up, a well made 450w unit is enough for a single high end GPU. A 650w supply is plenty for this if you don't have plans on Crossfire with your R9 290.

The 8350 isn't getting better....Even newer games, which benefit from more threads, still prefer higher IPC

    It depends on the game.

And the 8350 does certainly have lower minimums than an i5 would, and those minimums add a noticeable amount of stutter and do negatively affect gaming performance quite a bit.
