  1. I meant burning the paracord, not the cable itself. Edit: Burning is probably not the word I'm looking for.. it's more like warming it up so it shrinks a bit, haha. Yeah, I've been running the system for half a year without the 4 pin, but thought it might give it a more fleshed out look, haha. Thanks again!
  2. Damn, I guess it will be best to order some heatshrink and wait till it arrives... Thanks! Oh, one more thing, since I'll need one 8 pin and one 4 pin cable for the cpu (with 4 pin being optional, but still...) will it be okay if I make a 8 to 4 pin cpu cable and leave the other 4 pins (to the PSU) empty? I think there's no reason for it not to work, but still.
  3. Hello, I just received my paracord this morning. Started sleeving my 8-pin cable, and quickly realized I've forgot to order heatshrink ?. From what I've seen heatshrink is used even when going for that clean heatshrink-less look (you shrink it, then remove it). What I was wondering is, what will happen if I just gently burn the sleeving at the end, without a heatshrink? Will it come lose after some time, or is the heatshrink used just so you don't f* up the sleeving?
  4. Thanks for the vid, I'll definitely check it out. Changing the liquid every 6 months won't be a problem, but just thinking about discoloration and staining on the blocks makes me nervous haha. I might end up going with distilled water and biocide. @FlappyBoobs Well, the new one is 140 Euro where I'm from, and I can snag two of them for the same price (needless to say I have two cards as well). You're right on that though. I got a used Supremacy Evo once and it was terrible. I managed to get it clean with a bit of help from the community but it was a pain in the ass.
  5. Won't that leave scratches on the acrylic? Also what do you think about EK cryofuel premix (because it's the only coolant they sell around here...)? Edited: I'm a dummie and mixed up the name of the coolant...
  6. Hello, recently I've got an itch to try custom water cooling. While I was browsing the local ads this morning, I found a custom cooled pc with two 1080s with ekwb water blocks. The guy is also willing to sell the parts separately. What worries me is that he's using red coolant and he told me that there is some staining on the blocks. The price is really good, but I've heard it's really hard to clean the red staining. Does any of you have experience with it and would you recommend getting them? I was thinking maybe sand the plexi until it's clear again? Btw I'll be running white or yellow coolant.
  7. Hello everyone! Recently I got an offer for my MSI RX580 Armor 8GB. The guy offered me two MSI R9 290x Lightning. A friend of mine told me to accept it, as the 290x is not much slower than 580(and two of them would be quite faster) , and MSI Lightning cards can be overclocked a lot. What worries me is the vram. I'm on a 1080p monitor, planning to buy two more, but currently there are some games exceeding 4GB of vram. On top of my head is Ghost recon wildlands which goes to around 6.5GB of vram. So what do you think? Is it worth it? Will I see a leap in performance or will it negatively affect it because of the vram being cut in half? I forgot to mention that power consumption is not a big concern and my PSU can handle the cards.
  8. Hello! So I bought corsair cs650m. It was working just fine( it's still working through). The problem is that it randomly starts buzzing. I tried to RMA it but after a week they said that there's no problem with it(I tried it on two systems and it is buzzing) And they give me the same psu back. It's buzzing even when the rig is off But not all the time. What could it be? Is it save to use? I will probably change it in few months because I'm planning to add another gpu for crossfire, but I'm a bit worried. Sorry for the long post.
  9. hello! So i downloaded MSI Afterburner and there is a circle showing GPU Clock usage, i believe, and Memory clock. The thing is that the memory clock is jumping from 150 to 1250, is it normal? The only thing i found in the net was " Memory overclocking helps on cards with low memory bandwidth" and some overclocking talks, but i still cant understand how is it working. Is it supposed to be used on its maximum all the time? Sorry if the questions seems stupid but it's kinda bothering me. Thanks!
  10. Thank you for moving the thread to the right section! What about this one -> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/fsp-group-power-supply-aurums600w Where i live there is only VS series and AX series. I can't afford AX and it will be overkill even if i could buy it.Oh I've also found CS600M and CS650M Which are a little expensive. Which one to order? Thank you very much!
  11. Hello! I was wondering if i can run Gigabyte r9 290 with Corsair VS650 power supply. The CPU will be 4690k. I've checked some other forums and there are so many different answers so i decided to ask here! Thank you and happy Holidays!
  12. Hello! So I was going to order Gigabyte Z97 HD3 motherboard but suddenly I saw MSI Z97 PC Mate which is at the same price as Gigabyte one. Is there a difference in overclocking abilities? Which one would you go for? I've seen that MSI has been slacking a little lately on build quality, so is it true?
  13. Well thanks guys. I'll probably skip it!
  14. I can actually pick it from home but i'm working so there is tiny chance i will be home.
  15. Hello! So I am building a new rig and I found a guy selling Gigabyte R9 290 Windforce 3x OC for 160$. He's saying that the card was used in PC Club but they decided to close. The card have around 2 years warranty. The thing is that the guy is selling around 20 more R9 290's with reference coolers, and he's pretending that they were not used for mining either. There are 16 happy customers and one who's complaining that his card was used for mining, but when i asked him what was the problem he told me that his PC was freezing randomly. Can the problem be in card? Should i buy one? The guy send me some photos and it looks normal there isn't dust on it.. I never bought used hardware so i'm a bit worried. Also i won't be able to test it because i will take it from the courier office. Sorry, it might not the right place to ask such things but i don't know what to do.
