  1. My favourite game is Portal 2, or maybe Halo 3, or maybe it's Half-Life 2 OR it might not be any of those. You'll never know
  2. So I might be a little bit late to the party, but here's the current iteration of my main password: It's simply my favourite quote ever from my favourite game, with no punctuation. Since I lie to everyone about my favourite game, I think I'm safe from anyone figuring it out anytime soon.
  3. Well this took a depressing turn. I'm so sorry about what's happening to you. My ex girlfriend developed depression while we were dating, and it was a nasty thing, so I sort of know what you're going through. If you need support, we're here for you. The LTT forum can be that family that does care about you.
  4. I don't think I remember that one. Good Lord, not even 18 and I'm developing Alzheimer's or something.
  5. I would say to your boss: Hey Boss! I've been doin some math, and my connections told me, to tell you that 300+ Gigabytes of RAM is way more than we'll ever need bro! 32 to 64 Gigabytes will do us just fine! You probs gettin scammed out of your cold hard dolla bills yo, and should go do some talkin to the server dudes about changing the specs on that order. If you happened to mean storage and not RAM, then they still scammin you bro! If they mean 300 Gigabytes, that's not even close to what we use, hell that's smaller than my PC at home! But if they mean 300 Terabytes, that's a hella lot bro! That's way too much! We don't even use 1 Terabyte as it is. I suggest we go have a little chit chat with the server peeps, bro.
  6. Dude, chill. I'm not trying to be toxic, I was joking.
  7. Brings back memories of people whining about press any key to *insert action here* Most people said "Where's the any key?" but there were some special ones who would say something along the lines of "So I pushed the button with a line and a circle, and my computer crashed!"
  8. Wow! Two people playing a game and a half each! You and your wife must be from Faze Clan or something.
  9. I don't know whether Overclockers UK is considered an expensive online store in England, but you can buy Ducky keyboards there for £100.
  10. Oh I realise this. I was hesitant to even dream of something like this until I saw Ryzen's launch event. I doubt AMD would have let those benchmarks be inaccurate. Can you imagine the PR hit they would suffer if Ryzen launched with less performance than they demonstrated. The pricing is a bit more of a stretch (which is why I put may in the title) and this post is a bit of speculation, but I can dream, dammit! I also doubt IO would be restrictive enough on the AM4 platform so as to not allow this type of build to happen, but who knows?
  11. No. The price for both sets would not be the same. Did you look at the prices I actually have in my first post? Sure it would cost the same for all the peripherals, but the point of a build like this is that it allows us to share one CPU, one motherboard, one PSU and one case between two rigs. Yes the CPU and PSU might have to be a bit more expensive, but it's still cheaper than buying two lesser ones of each (as I point out may be possible with Ryzen).
  12. GUYS PLEASE I can tell this isn't going to end well, and if we stay on this topic at hand, we will quickly all descend into madness and become major assholes towards each other. Let's just agree to disagree, and move on.
  13. EVERYBODY CALM DOWN How about we stop hurling insults at each other and move on.
  14. Sorry I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying. My thesis is about the economic viability. It has been proven several times - even on Linustechtips - that there is hardly any performance degradation with the VMs because UnRAID has PCI-E Passthrough and CPU virtualisation.
  15. Again, that's not the point. You could do lesser hardware, I was just establishing that there was indeed a substantial difference in price.
  16. I haven't had much experience with many high-end boards, and because these two boards are decidedly low-to-mid range, we're not really near AsRock's better boards.
  17. Gigabyte for sure. At the lower non-flashy end of the motherboard spectrum, I only trust Gigabyte, Asus and sometimes MSI. Gigabyte and Asus by far are the most reliable motherboard manufacturers, and I have never had a problem with any of their boards. AsRock boards are a bit meh to me. Sure, they look a bit nicer often and they seem to have the same range of specs. But their UEFI BIOS leaves a bit to be desired IMO (Their overclocking is fairly dumbed down and restrictive), and I've rarely heard outstanding praise about their motherboards. Seeing as they're about the same price, I would say go for the Gigabyte motherboard. No, it doesn't look as pretty, but it's more reliable.
  18. Try uninstalling your browser, running your antivirus software again, and then reinstalling your browser. The adware may be posing as an extension for the browser, thus evading detection whilst the browser is installed. Let us know if that works.
  19. I realise that I didn't put the doubled figures in my post, but I talk about the 2 Gamers 1 CPU computer being double the price of the normal rig and therefore, not worth doing (since there is no money saved, its easier to save yourself the hassle of setting up UnRAID and just build two seperate machines if the cost is the same)
  20. My suggestion: Wait for Ryzen Q1 next year. If you can hold out until then, You'll have a new generation of CPUs from AMD to look at, as well as discounted FX and Phenom CPUs.
  21. Yes. While AMD mainly showed off their Top-of-the-line 8-core 16-thread monster competing against a 6900K, they are also releasing a 4-core 8-thread CPU that will probably be able to compete with the 7700K. Even if you end up going with Intel anyway, wait till Ryzen is released because it might prompt Intel to drop their CPU prices.
  22. Unfortunately, there does not exist proper NVENC support in the Adobe suite. Since Nvidia cards have a hardware H.264 Encoder, this would help to speed up the process, but I have no idea where it's at IF it's in development at all right now. There are GPU accelerated Effects within Premiere/After Effects, but whether the codec supports is entirely different. I know some codecs are CUDA and OpenCL accelerated (e.g. Cineform) but I don't think any widely universal codecs are GPU accelerated at the moment. Hitfilm 4 Express will be mainly CPU bound, like Final Cut, Avid, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc. Most of these programs advertise GPU Acceleration, but that is mainly limited to certain effects, or in some cases, a few codecs.
  23. Despite Premiere, After Effects and Media Encoder all using the same rendering engine, I've found Premiere and After Effects to do some weird things in the past with oddly corrupted exports or bad colour distortion (albeit very infrequently). I've never had a problem with Media Encoder and I suspect that more effort has been put into its stability, since it's sole purpose is being a transcoding program.
