  1. Oh yes, because it's very unnatural to snow where you perceive it shouldn't? And I guess your perception is the decider of what is norm and what isn't? It literally can snow wherever it wants and still be normal because that's literally how cold front works. It may be unusual, but it doesn't make it less normal. You remind of folks screaming Y2K just because we surpass our understanding of hitting the year 2000.
  2. Sounds like you didn't uninstall old drivers from your last GPU. Run DDU in safemode and come back here to tell us what happened. Cheers.
  3. 44C is 'yours' while people like me were having 60C at idle. Do you understand how big of a difference 20 degrees is? Yea okay, sure I can agree with consistency. But doesn't mean keeping your GPU at a temp at 60C consistency means is 'better' for it. Because it's not. If it's consistent at 40C, sure. But we're not talking about 40C here, we're talking 60C. Anything can wear and tear a GPU. To say that the heating and cool cycle is what cause it to wear and tear the most is observational. Because the last time I checked, studies showed that gaming is what causes GPU to die quicker or have lesser life span compared to someone who was 'mining' 24/7 and that's due to taxation of intensive graphics. Also, agree to disagree on the, "It's not stressing it." Anything with consistent heat at a high temp, especially at idle... you're stressing it.
  4. No, it's not good for your GPUI. Ramping your GPU to high temps isn't ideal AT ALL. I have no clue where you even thought of this or why this is even a discussing. I'm going to throw a no curveball. This is literally saying to go ahead and stress out your GPU with a stress tester at idle and it'll be "okay." Do you understand increasing power also means increasing heat? Increasing heat to your GPU is NOT at all a good thing for the GPU for longevity. It literally has tons of impact and for one, it can cause power if your GPU is taking too much. If you think having a 60 degree C at idle is 'okay', clearly, I don't know where you got your IT certification. Running a game would increase that heat from 60 degree C to 73 degree C. So no, clearly not okay.
  5. I'm about tired of this ignorance of 'snow in the summer' and contributing it to global warming. There's LITERALLY nothing unusual with snow in the summer time as cold fronts move in time to time, although rare. What's more uncommon is the spread of the cold front and how wide it is, not that it... 'snowed in May and in June.' I am also tired of ignorance about December being 'warm' and contributing it to global warming. First off, Western world uses Georgian calendar that does NOT follow the seasons accurately. You may think it's December, but using a more accurate seasonal calendar will let you know it's actually still the season of FALL. Georgian calendar is not a good bases to tell what season of the year it is as seasons get shifted on the calendar. Winter starts during end of January on the Georgian calendar as of now. That's exactly why things stay warm during "December." And cold fronts doesn't start passing until later in January - March.
  6. this is likely a driver issue. it's just an old card, and i can bet my money that nVidia doesn't care too much about their older models and making it combability with all the updates of Windows or Mac.
  7. there's no need for an unlocked CPU and Z-motherboard if you're not going to overclock. most people don't anyways and i highly suggest just downgrading to a locked cpu and motherboard to save a lot more money. running WoW at 4k, a RTX 3080 should be sufficient. but i advise you put the money to cool the PC components instead as it can get hot.

  9. download hwmonitor, go to sensor, and scroll down to GPU. under the "current" look at your clock speed. i suspect your rtx 3080 is bugged and running at a maximum clock speed at idle. during gaming, it'll push itself over the limit. if you are having this issue, the best fix is first to open your nVidia control panel, go to 3D settings, and scroll down to where it says, power management mode: and drop down list to normal mode. then use DDU to uninstall your current driver in safe mode. reinstall new drivers and check hwmonitor again to see the current clock speed for your GPU.
  10. I changed it to normal to see if that'll fix the issue, but it didn't. Only when I uninstalled using DDU and reinstall new driver did it fix the issue.
  11. yup seems to be the issue. also, the rtx 3080 you can underclock it to get lower temps and same performance. i highly recommend to do it by using msi afterburner.
  12. i just change the user interface to default skin v3. settings > user interface
  13. Found the answer. Thanks for the heads up on checking clock rate at idle. I ran DDU in safemode and reinstalled the drivers. It fixed the issue. Apparently this is an on-going issue with nVidia and some people bypass the issue with installing studio driver instead of the game ready driver. The bug causes your GPU to clock at 1750mhz and memory clock at 9550 mhz at idle. I would address this issue as soon as you can so it doesn't kill your graphics card. 29 degrees C at idle for GPU.
  14. I just checked using hwinfo. youre right, the gpu is sitting at 1750 mhz at idle. this was never the case before where i was sitting at 300 - 500 mhz at idle. that explains the massive increase in heat. there has to be some update that caused this, (i am making educated guess)
  15. No I haven't checked my idle clock rate. What software are you using to see clock rate at idel?
  16. This was never a problem when I first built my PC. Idle temps were around 30 degrees C. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but idle temps for the RTX 3080 now is sitting at 60 degrees C when I turn on the PC. I adjusted the fan curve to be a bit more aggressive and idle is around 41 degrees C. Something is totally off and I'm not sure what it is. Running games will ramp up the temps to above 70 degrees C and it gets hot fast and starts to heat up the room quickly. Is it a new setting pushed out by nVidia? *Also to note, this temp on the GPU is with the GPU underclocked at -300mhz. Meaning, with underclocking, it's getting 60 degrees C at idle.
  17. What do you think is the minimal hourly rate should be as inflation continues? I use to think making $30 an hour was great and allow me to take care of myself, but as inflation continues... feels like $30/hour is the minimal needed. Seems like even with higher pay rate, you still won't be able to get the items you want unless you pay a hefty premium for it in the thousands. As cost of living goes up, do you think investing in solar panels and electric cars are the right move? And how much are you willing to pay for a home as most decent sized home are now in the $400,000 range in the US with a 4.5% interest rate? What jobs do you think is more 'secure' if we ever enter a sort of Great Depression?
  18. running at 1440 resolution @165 hz, i'll say you'll want to aim for a 3080 for ultra settings play. you can use 3070 but it might be on lower resolution for some triple A games. not sure what games you plan on playing but if its not graphic intensive, then 3070 should work fine.
  19. i like this build, but ill swap that air cooler for an actual liquid coolant instead. artic liquid freezer II would do great. and 3600 CL memory would probably do better.
  20. bro with 3k, you literally can build a beast of a PC. i built mines last year and love it. 1440p resolution 165hz maxed out on all games. ill help you build one later when i come back.
  21. This push for 'renewable energy' and higher gas prices seem to be shifting consumers for electric cars as most can't deal with the climbing gas prices (another topic about gas prices.) I have this hunch that most will trade in their gas powered cars for an electric vehicle. That leaves me to believe that the price of gasoline powered cars will start to tank, as you won't have a lot of consumers wanting it.
  22. not sure who offended you and why you're overly aggressive for no reason, but if you need a hug... i got you fam. couple of pointers though... dont randomly insult people for no reason. dont make judgmental calls against someone you dont know and have no clue about. dont get mad when youre called out on it. and try not to ruin a good thread for no reason other than because you're emotional. and also, no clue why youre even emotional about thread talking about video games. and also, why are you even insulting me again? i dont know man, but to me, seems like you got a lot of issues.
  23. "i dont mean this in an insulting way" but you seem like the kind of person that wank by himself and think its fun.
  24. I find myself not enjoying playing video games anymore. It all seems so boring, same ol. I need something fresh, something new, and almost all of these games are just clones of each other. I got through introduction with Lost Ark before calling it quits. Starcraft 1, Starcraft 2... Played these games far too long, it's really boring. And I'm tired of people just spamming Protoss the overpowered race. League of Legends... just sucks. Overwatch... Sucks. Elden Ring... haven't tried yet... I don't see how people can enjoy single player games without any interaction with other players. Almost all shooting games suck and it's not what it use to be anymore. I don't know what game to play while I'm not out and at home. I usually just watch a movie or TV show... but I've seen almost everything now. shrugs...
