So my friend got a Nokia Lumia and goes on about how it's the best phone ever and how my iPhone is so much worse. He sells it and gets a BlackBerry and goes on about BBM makes BlackBerry the best phone ever and how my iPhone is bad because I have to pay more to text. He sells it and get's a Galaxy S2, again says how it's the best phone in the world EVER, and how android beats Apple any day. He sells it and get's an iPhone... He tells me how epic it is and that nothing else can beat it... THIS GUY!

RTX 2070 for the GF and a 5700 XT for myself.

That's about what they go for here too, you can pick up a 480 4GB for about 100-120 CAD. Just decided that for 150 I could pick up the 8GB version instead which also had a better cooler + nicer backplate and wasn't used for mining.
 
It's a great case especially for the price, I'm very happy with it. Real tempered glass side panel, lots of space for cable management, PSU shroud, and just generally feels good to work with, no sharp edges or anything like that. Even includes a magnetic dust filter for the top. The two fans that come with it work decently well but feel awful, they flex like cardboard, probably replacing them at some point but that's my only gripe.

Thanks Reece, that was was one consideration I was thinking of for getting a laptop, plus if I go with a laptop the one I am looking to get either has a gtx 2060 or 1070 in it and thunderbolt 3 on it. Which means in the future I could get a graphics amplifier and upgrade t he graphics on the laptop

For games the 2070 will be the better upgrade. the 1700x is still a good CPU in terms of modern gaming.
 
If you will upgrade both eventually then I would get the GPU first, especially since 2070s are going for quite a good price atm.

Not sure. But I bought their GTX 780 because it offered a three year warrenty where as others offered only a 2 year warrenty. Card died after 2 and a half years so I would have been boned with another vendor. They sent me a 970 pretty quickly when I RMA'd it. 
 
Maybe they've dipped in quality since I bought the GTX 780, but I'll always be greatful that they offered a longer warrenty at the time of me buying.

Luckily was in warranty and I got me a gud GTX 970 out of the whole ordeal.
