  1. If you are buying a PSP, buy a PSP 3000. If you want to buy a hand-held gaming system, buy a PS-Vita.
  2. 1) Build quality is average and calls for care. a. Cracked corners has been the topic of interest for many Shield users. I have been using it for two weeks without any case and no cracks yet, fingers crossed. My case will arrive in a day and then it's not leaving the case. b. The buttons are awkwardly placed and while the volume rocker is alright, the power button is simply gone wrong. Putting the tablet to sleep and wake it up is an ordeal with the almost flat button. c. The screen is a fingerprint magnet and so is the back. The screen itself is far from those found on Samsung and Apple products in terms of viewing angles. But the color reproduction, sharpness, brightness, contrast, etc. are absolutely fine. d. The speakers sound great but the grill will attract dust. e. There is no thumb / side palm rejection built into the device, so reading a book comfortably was a nightmare once you are used to holding the tablet like a book without worrying about. I think it is a very important feature to have in hand-held tablets. Also, finding a good ePub/eBook reader was a bit painful and I am still not satisfied as I keep comparing everything to iBooks. 2) PC streaming works alright if you have an ungodly fast internet. I found this feature not useful at all, actually. It's not like you are going to be 2 states away and want to play your PC games on Shield and will find a sufficient connection to do so. And when you are at home, you'd rather play on PC for the full experience. The "GRID" games need a controller (almost all of them) and they do work well. But today there are no more than 20 games and even those are 2010-2013. 3) App2sd app should allow moving apps to SD card. 4) No. 5) Yes you can connect a bluetooth keyboard for regular typing within apps but not a mouse/touch pad. Not in games at least. For games you do need the nVidia controller. Overall, for just the tablet, $320 is a little too much but I still haven't returned it. I know the 8 inch iPad mini (2014) is almost 2 generations behind iPad Air 2 in terms of CPU so options are limited. This is probably the best Android tablet available as of today and maybe Nexus 9. But if you are into "apps", Apple today unfortunately is still the way to go, even if it is iPad mini.
  3. I find the game streaming feature of little use on this tablet. It's gimmicky at best. But yes, since the game is really only being mirrored to the tablet, your achievements should flow through. And yes you can voice chat using the microphone on the Shield controller if you have it. I don't know if you can use the Shield's built-in microphone for in-game chat when the controller is absent. Overall, the tablet's build quality, battery life, etc. didn't impress me.
  4. You can go as crazy as you want, but with a good sound card even a pair of inexpensive but extremely comfortable and well-built Pioneer SE-M290 sound more than satisfactory and produce minimum sound leak. I wear them for hours and since the earmuffs are not leather/man-made leather but a felt-like material they don't "slip" or become "sweaty" or "sticky". I have been using these for last five years and they sound great for gaming and music. If you are rolling in cash, there are abundant options. In that case, I'd say get one specifically for gaming. I'd suggest http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/headphones/568b166395264eb0/index.html
  5. Zotac AMP! Extreme 4GB is working great for me. Already overclocked and while the Firestorm program isn't the best, the card is really well built with a PCB backplate etc. Does not go over 65 degrees Celsius under full load playing COD AW.
  6. Assuming we are not talking about PC exclusives, my list for 2014 not necessarily in an order is below. I am making another assumption that the system specifications are on par with being able to play these games on at least "Very High" or equivalent settings to be fair to the games. 1) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (I also love the Battlefield series, but this time COD takes the cake) 2) The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (different and commendable, and looks astounding) 3) Far Cry 4 (lots of silly fun and incredible graphics) 4) Fifa 15 (the beautiful game is almost getting there on PC) 5) Grid Autosport AND Don Bradman Cricket 14 (for the Cricket fans, you've got to admire the work that has gone into this one by BigAnt Studios- big brands should learn a thing or two from these guys).
  7. There is no reason to not buy grid auto sport over the crew so far.
  8. Since XBOX 360 launch it is hard for any game to stay just on PC as already discussed elsewhere in the forum, almost no one (statistically, don't shoot me) cares about PC gaming exclusivity. It is sad but true. PC exclusives in today's age is bad business decision. The term exclusives was coined specifically for Sony and Microsoft wars. Every once in a while such a game might come by but you can't find a well established series exclusively on PC anymore, probably never again. Back in the day, however, I remember enjoying Quake 3 on ultra settings looking really nice. Later came Unreal Tournament, Hitman, Thief II, Half Life 2, and more recently STALKER Call of Pripyat, etc. But it will be Witcher 3 and ARMA that's all you've got.
  9. Blacklight Retribution, until they introduced zombies and what not. Possibly after they were acquired?
  10. V-Sync generally helps remove screen tearing when coupled with tripple buffer enabled (I think), and usually results in a smooth game play.
  11. I'm running a GTX 970 on a pretty decent rig but Watch Dogs auto detect settings come out to be between medium and high at 1080p. What's the deal with that? I can manually override the settings and push almost all of them to Ultra, except that I don't like the cheap reflections at HBAO High so I leave it to SSAO. It also helps the chase scenes because it does lag slightly. By the way, what a GTA 5 wannabe title this is from Ubisoft. Laughable voice acting and body and lip movements straight out of 90s. If only those and the writing were better, graphically the game looks very good.
