  1. Microsoft is announcing a big new feature for Xbox owners today: cross-network play. It's something the software giant has hinted at for years, and now it seems the reality of PS4, Xbox One, and PC players playing the same game together might finally happen. Developers building games for Xbox One and Windows 10 will be able to support the feature, but it will require Sony and others to "participate" in order for games to be played across Xbox One and PlayStation 4 http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/14/11222370/microsoft-xbox-cross-network-play-pc-ps4-gaming
  2. This is really sad Nintendo President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth. Below you can read the official PDF statement from Nintendo japan's website http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2015/150713e.pdf
  3. The software maker has revealed today that the equivalent to Windows Phone for the Windows 10 era is simply "Windows 10 Mobile." While the new name isn’t simply Windows Mobile, thanks to the 10 numbering, it’s still a return to the old days of Windows Mobile especially if Microsoft does choose to ship a Windows 11 or Windows 12 in the future. 4. According to WFLA, the woman had been arguing with her boyfriend when he threatened her life with a large knife. Her phone was then taken, but not before she was given permission to order a pizza. Hostages and kidnappers gotta eat. Thinking of a way to escape, the woman cleverly added a little message to her order, but it wasn’t a call for extra toppings or napkins. “911hostage help!” and “Please help. Get 911 to me,” the message read. That’s when the local Pizza Hut, who said the woman was a regular, called police. When officers responded, they found the woman and her children in the house unharmed, and eventually took her boyfriend into custody—all because of her quick thinking. No word on what happened to the pizza, but one would hope the woman was treated to a complimentary pie following the frightening ordeal. 5. Comcast announced its brand-new Xi4 box that supports 4K UHD content and will be available later this year to customers. It will also continue to provide content, and said customers will be able to stream “hundreds” of titles from its Xfinity catalog, including Outlander, Power, Playing House, Satisfaction, Suits and movies such as Rocky Mountain Express, Ultimate Wave Tahiti, Antarctica, Fighter Pilot and Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia. Sounds like you’ll at least be able to show off how sharp that new 4K TV is. Comcast will follow the Xi4 will a new box, the Xi5, next year, which will add support for HDR programming. The company declined to say how much you’ll need to pay for its new boxes. Source: http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/05/10/4k-cable-box-coming-from-comcast-this-year/
  6. Samsung on Friday announced that owners of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge can now officially order the Gear VR Innovator Edition headset online from either Samsung’s website or from BestBuy.com. Source: http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/05/08/gear-vr-for-galaxy-s6-now-available-for-199/
  7. One Samsung customer in Korea found their Galaxy S6 looking a bit more bloated than usual. Upon opening the box, the customer noticed that the entire battery had expanded, blowing off the back panel of the smartphone and ruining the display at the same time. PhoneArena said the customer was able to get the device replaced without issue, but it seems like a potentially dangerous situation. 8. Congrats to Nintendo!!!! The massive sigh accompanies an announcement that it has returned to profit for the first time in four years with Nintendo pulling in a whopping 41.8 billion yen ($350 million) in its 2014 fiscal year. 9. During its yearly financial call, EA confirmed that the Need for Speed racing franchise will be returning to high end consoles and PCs in 2015. Details are few and far between at the moment aside from the release window, and EA doesn’t even have a name chosen yet. 10. Google just released the schedule for its developer conference at the end of this month, otherwise known as Google I/O. Apparently Google did have a piece of information hiding in the schedule, however, and it referenced “Android M.” Android Police grabbed an image of the schedule, included above, though it has since been pulled. It seems likely, then, that Google will introduce the next version of its operating system in a similar fashion to how it introduced Android 5.0 Lollipop. That began when it launched “Android L” during Google I/O last year. That’s about all the information there is on Android M, however. But the good news is it sounds like Google will indeed talk about the next major iteration of Android later this month, which may have been in development since at least September, and we can’t wait to hear what sort of changes are coming. It can even open up the sunroof entirely, something Tesla’s official smartphone app can’t do. Finally, you can turn the charging port on and off, though you still have to plug in the cord manually. 12. Yager Development has pushed Dead Island 2 back into 2016. The follow-up to the middling Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide was to be released for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this spring, but Yager believes that more time is needed to take it “to the next level.” Source: http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/05/01/dead-island-2-delayed-into-2016-so-it-can-go-to-the-next-level/
  13. But will anyone be interested in buying the second version? Hey wait a minute. Watch Dogs 2 isn’t real and hasn’t been confirmed yet! Oops. Treat this as a rumor for now. Plenty of developers have listed high profile unnanounced sequels on their LinkedIn accounts, and some have gone on to be real and some haven’t. 14. With the PC version of former console exclusive WWE 2K15 out in the wild, it looks like modding support has been confirmed. That's according to 2K Games representative Marcus Stephenson, who passed the info on to a curious Twitter user (via Destructoid). While it's unlikely 2K Games will offer bespoke modding tools for WWE, it does mean modders have the publisher's blessing, nay invitation, to crack the game open. Once they do we'll almost certainly get a playable Gabe Newell. It's inevitable. Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/wwe-2k15-can-be-modded-confirms-2k-rep/
  15. Dang this is one really good looking case. i just wish that they would sell it as just the case and not a build to order. you can now officially buy it. You can NOT buy it as a case alone. you would have to pay for it to be build for you. Source: http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/04/25/cyberpowers-trinity-pc-goes-from-prototype-to-shipping-product/

  17. Source: http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2015/0421/592620/wwe-2k15-announced-for-windows-pc WWE Games announced today that the WWE 2K15 video game will be released on Windows PC this spring. 2K Sports says they have taken great measures to make sure the PC version of the game includes everything that makes the console version great, including 2K Showcase and MyCareer modes. Gamers who buy the PC version on the first day it's released will receive immediate access to two version of Sting and two of Hulk Hogan. DLC content for the game will be released later in the spring and will be free. DLC includes the WCW and NXT packs, as well as the additional 2K Showcase modes such as One More Match, Hall of Pain and Path of the Warrior. WWE United States Champion and cover star John Cena commented on the DLC content being free: "One of the great bonuses of getting the game on PC is that you get nearly all of the downloadable content that was released after WWE 2K15 launched in October free, as part of the package. That's an incredible amount of content: 36 extra characters, 4 new managers, 26 matches, 46 entire single player stories and cut scenes in 2K Showcase, and a whole lot more. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that that's a pretty awesome deal." Cena also commented on the game finally coming to the PC: "I grew up playing games on my PC. Texas Instruments, Commodore 64… I was a huge PC gamer growing up, so this is big. Not only for our fans, but for me personally as well. Fans may not know this, but I was such a huge PC gamer that I bought a living room entertainment system just to play PC games back in the day. So don't be surprised if you flash forward 50 years and yours truly is sitting in his living room playing computer games!"

  19. One of the biggest questions hovering over Apple’s upcoming smartwatch event is the device’s battery life. Specifically, will it last a whole day on a single charge? Tim Cook previously hinted that the Apple Watch should last a whole day, but he may not be telling the whole story. A recent report from The New York Times reveals that Apple may have a trick up its sleeve. Alongside pricing and an official release date, the company could use its March 9 event to unveil a new “Power Reserve” mode to help you get through the day. The new feature would apparently only use a fraction of the power, but of course there’s a catch. In return, it only shows the time, turning the device into a regular old non-smart watch. The Times also notes that Apple had to push back release plans the new wearable after losing several key employees late last year. You can blame Nest for the delays. The Google-owned company poached Bryan James, who previously led the iPod software team and helped develop the Apple Watch, among others. Either way, we’re just a few days from Apple’s big announcement, and likely about a month from an official release. It won’t be long before the companyreveals exactly what it’s been working on, though we may not get a real sense of the device’s battery life until we can test one out for ourselves in April. 20. (Reuters) - Intel Corp is shipping new mobile chips that represent the semiconductor company's biggest hope for making progress in smartphones this year. Responding to a growing market in China for low-cost handsets often priced below $100, Intel announced plans for the chip, code named Sofia, in late 2013 at a meeting with investors. "We went from PowerPoint to shipping in 15 months," said Aicha Evans, General Manager of Intel's Platform Engineering Group. As well as smartphones, the Sofia chip fills a gap in Intel's lineup of chips for tablets. Over 20 manufactures plan to make devices made with Sofia, with many on display at this week's Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, Evans said. After falling behind in mobile chips, Intel has been rushing to catch up with Qualcomm Inc and Taiwan's MediaTek Inc. Qualcomm said on Monday it will start testing its newest top-tier smartphone chip, the Snapdragon 820, with manufacturers in late 2015. In a costly strategy that elevated Intel to the No 2 spot in tablet chip market share, Intel last year paid manufacturers some of the engineering cost of developing low-end tablets using another chip, code named Bay Trail, that it originally had designed for more expensive devices. Intel has declined to say how much it paid tablet makers to use its Bay Trail chips, but it's mobile unit had a loss of $4.2 billion last year, worse than its $3.1 billion loss in 2013. Intel believes the new Sofia chips are ideal for the fast-growing, low-end smartphone market in Asia and has said it does not plan to use costly subsidies to sell the chips this year. The Sofia chips currently shipping have 3G features for low-end phones, and 4G versions for pricier smartphones will be released later this year, the company added. 21. Hewlett-Packard will acquire networking company Aruba Networks in a deal valued at $2.7 billion, the companies said Monday, as the personal computer maker continues to shift toward offering services for the enterprise market. HP will scoop up Aruba for $24.67 a share in cash, reads a joint statement. The deal is expected to close during the second half of HP's fiscal year. "By combining Aruba's world-class wireless mobility solutions with HP's leading switching portfolio, HP will offer the simplest, most secure networking solutions to help enterprises easily deploy next-generation mobile networks," HP's CEO Meg Whitman said in a release. Shares of HP climbed 0.83% in pre-market trading, while shares of Aruba Networks slipped 1.5%. Aruba Networks, based in Sunnyvale, California, specializes in wireless networking, notably in the mobile market. The company has 1,800 employees, and reported revenue of $729 million last fiscal year. Source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/03/02/hp-aruba/24251081/
  22. Here's something you can get for yourself these holidays: a 3.5-inch 8TB drive from Seagate that costs only $260 -- we didn't forget an extra number in that figure, promise. That's a lot cheaper than HGST's helium-filled 8TB disk drive, which is listed for $1,000 on newegg and just a bit more on Amazon. And, it's significantly more affordable than OCZ's 1TB SSD released only five years ago (remember when 1TB drives excited you?) for $2,200. This product is part of the brand's new Archive HDD line launched a few months ago, which uses Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology that can fit more data on a platter than the typical drive. The line also includes 6TB and 5TB options, if 8TB is already excessive. It is slower than many recent SSDs (it has a read speed of 150MB/s, whereas the SSDs in this list of best models for 2014 have an average speed of 550MB/s), so it's probably best to pair it up with one. Still, at 3 cents a gig, that's not such a bad deal. According to Extremetech, Seagate has just started shipping out units to retailers, so if you want one as a stocking stuffer, your best bet is to look around. Amazon only has a 20-pack bundle for sale right now, and it won't be sent your way until January 2015. SOURCE: http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/12/seagate-ships-8tb-shingled-hard-drive/

  24. According to a press release published last night, Voda is going to return to the usa as an MVNO using T-Mobile’s network. It’s plan is to aim squarely at the enterprise market, to provide a solution specifically for multi-national clients. It’s planning to launch the service late next year (2015). Vodafone wants to supply wireless services to more than 400 multinational clients, and a further 500 Vodafone multinational customers based outside America, but with a “strong U.S. presence”. According to the press release Vodafone’s MNC proposition includes: an unrivaled international wireless footprint, with networks in 27 countries (including 16 Vodafone markets with 4G LTE networks) extending to more than 75 countries through partner market relationships proven total communications products and services for enterprise, from telecommunications expense management and security products to cloud services and Vodafone OneNet fixed-mobile converged products and services enabling employees to collaborate and communicate on any device on any network, anywhere ongoing expansion of the world’s most advanced IP-VPN global network, with 91 points of presence (PoPs) rising to 212 PoPs by the end of 2015 to span 67 countries and global leadership in M2M capabilities, with Vodafone SIMs now embedded in more than 18.6 million products across 23 countries From a T-Mobile point-of-view this could give the company a bigger foothold in the enterprise market. And area where, traditionally, T-Mobile hasn’t done so well. At least not compared to the likes of Verizon which has a huge corporate customer base.
