ProfoundDisputes got a reaction from ghorbani in Making win32 api C++ calculator. Want feed back.
I briefly went over why in my response to Unimportant.

I didn't like the look of Qt applications. I also was under the impression that Qt isn't widely used and didn't think I would gain much from learning their framework. I was massively confused about MFC and .Net related material. I am the type of person that needs to know everything about something before I can use it. So when I started reading about win32 api and how its the basic for the object oriented frameworks even if I never use it directly it would be a great learning experience.

I learned by lots of self research. I use MSDN alot as a reference too. Once I understood the message loop and the way win32 api is structured things just started clicking and MSDN helped a lot. Though, I am still really new at it but I feel like I have made massive progress so far. I was so confused in the beginning.

localtime function converts timestamp into calendar time. The second param is time to convert (your t variable) and since your is 0 then it is 0 (which is 1970 + timezone).
    try:
        time_t t = time(NULL);

Well I decided that I am going to return the DT-990s. I already bought the HP50 and will be getting it sometime next week.
I will compare he-400 and hd50s against each other. The one most pleasing stays. Hopefully I have enough time in the return policy for the he-400 to adjust to the hd50.

Bear with them for a couple of weeks.

Our mind adjusts to hearing all our well known music with whatever level of bass you are used to.

DT990 has comically boosted upper/mid bass, so your mind is telling you that is right.

Your mind will readjust to the HE400 bass within a week or so, and you'll be left with a much better set of headphones.

Or you can be like me and just upload the videos in the full 21:9 resolution.

But if you want to still do old 16:9 for people you can just run windowed 1920x1080

I was running 8000x1440 with bezel correction in Nvidia Surround on my main rig, hitiing 60fps at ultra settings and loving it. I saw this AOC 29" ultrawide for 500 clams and thought why not, it'll be perfect for my racing simulator, I'll be able to see more of the corners without the hassle of 3 screens. It only took about a month and i had sold all 3 Samsung WQHDs and had the ultrawide on my main rig, it's so much closer to my natural field of view and i've known for quite some time that I'll never go back to 16:9 and couildn't give less of a toss about 4K. Sadly the only thing that was lacking was size and resolution, oh how I wished for a 3360x1440 model (thats the resolution my calculator told me) that was a bit bigger. And then you came along [guitar sound] the LG 34UM95, the crazy wizard in the sky took a break from gving AIDS to babies and granted my wish.
In Australia this has an ETA of the 25th and RRP is $1299, I have ordered from mwave who I've bought from before and seem pretty decent, unlike some retailers that are into the 1400s
I have not run into any issues with 21:9 over about a hundred games, flawless widescreen has come to the rescue for Witcher 2, Skyrim, BF4, Dishonored, LA Noire even South Park.
Buy this monitor, you will not regret it, it is an investment.

ProfoundDisputes got a reaction from Vitalius in Windows 7 deauthorization
Ok I am upgrading my cpu and motherboard from amd to intel(Xeon E3-1230V3 and Asus z87-A). I know this will require a new authorization for my windows 7 key. I want to deauthorize windows 7 for my current computer, so I can have more installs with my license key, for the future. I am not going to use windows 7 now since I am upgrading to a SSD with windows 8.1. Just incase I do other builds it would be nice to not run into validation problems.

I did a bit of research but I haven't found a lot of answers that confirm each other. I am hoping to not have to call microsoft. Anyone know how to do this?

I don't ever remember Linus every mentioning this. The price difference is so large I don't see why he never did a comparison or anything, or even mention it....

Yes, it's holding it back badly. Xeon e3-1230v3 will be better buy than i7-4770 cuz you do not need an iGPU and that's the only difference between i7-4770 and xeon e3-1230v3. Yes, you will see a HUGE frame difference once your CPU is gonna be so powerful. Especially Skyrim and other games that just run a lot better on Intel CPUs which have faster singlethread performance.

First, 2133mhz RAM is useless, get a good CL9 or CL8 1600MHz and it will be as fast and lower latency. But since you already have the RAM, yes it's compatible without problems.

Second, get Xeon e3-1230v3 (it's exactly Haswell i7 4770 but no iGPU included, not like you would ever use it) - you're gonna save some money. The motherboard you've chosen is great as it will allow you to eventually Crossfire/SLI if you ever wanted and yes it will support the i7/Xeon e3-1230v3.

or if you wanted you could get a cheaper motherboard that wont allow you to SLI/Crossfire but otherwise is as good since you are not overclocking anyway with Xeon e3-1230v3:

So everyone agrees the differences between the two are basically small clock speed changes and no graphics?
