ROG SWIFT! If you can find it, snag it.

Movies will look better on a 4k moitor as like you stated it is exactly 4x the resolution. 144Hz is amazing though and putting g-sync on top of that is even better. I have the swift and don't see myself ever going back to a static refresh monitor for gaming. day to day life I don't personlay notice the 144Hz so there is that and I also rarely watch movies on it. Watching youtube videos above 1080p looks good too.
I'm courious now to see what a blu-ray looks like on it, time to watch some movies instead of study

I thought so....MSI and ASUS has had problems with the motherboards on X99 platform and this is one of them, on MSI is is worse. I would advise that register you motherboard on the ASUS product register site, then visit the ROG site and make an account and lodge your complaint on the relative subforum and see what help you can get, I know that they(ASUS and MSI) have been trying to make this right by the customer but i have to warn you RMAs are a pain in the ass it might be better if you can send it back to where you bought the motherboard from and show them what happened and ask for an exchange.

HWiNFO will give you all of the information you need, and it doesn't use up your CPU like CAM.
CAM software sometimes uses up 20% of an i5. That is INSANE for a simple monitoring program.

No longer in stock stock at Newegg here in the US, Amazon has it. Bit pricier but should get the job done.

I still cant figure out what to do..
Voting suggests 1440p but I am worried it will get outdated soon.

I personally agree with BaSKa.
Frankly I would buy neither of them due to current shifts in technology, your requirements and potential hardware needs.
Based on the fact you play Dota2 mainly, this would be my priority 2K IPS + 144mhz > 2K ips > 2K TN > 4K TN.
The ROG swift is really for competitive FPS gaming, and non of the games you mentioned warrant its premium price.
A 144mhz 1440p IPS panel has just been announced, by the time that comes out freesync should available, and you won't be limited to NVidia cards.

I guess you can always get a 4k screen and just run it at 1080p or 1440p until your graphics setup is powerful enough to run 4k... If it isn't already...

vin_mehta1988 reacted to CostcoSamples in 4k or 1440p
That is way too much money for a casual use monitor. Get yourself a nice 24" 1080p monitor for under $300 and don't worry about all the extra pixels. 4k is not going to change your life. the cost of horsepower to push pixels on a 4k screen is easily another $1,000.
Spend $300 on a 1080p monitor, and $500 on a nice GPU and you'll enjoy ultra settings for years to come. OR spend $1,000 on a monitor and $1,000 on dual GPUs. That's $800 for an awesome gaming setup vs. $2,000 for a slightly more awesome setup. NOT WORTH IT! (my humble opinion).

God don't get M50's if you want bass. There are plenty of Dt990's for $200 in CA. You can also get custom one pro's for roughly $210.

Only if it was well developed life would have been so easy. plug in to a power socket and press the WPS button and done.

I am using Black and Red Corsair K70 since past 4 months with red key switches and lemme tell you its the best keyboard I have seen so far. She is absolutely beautiful. Though I would not recommend red key switches if you have to type a lot. Corsair is also giving option to select the switches u want red, blue or brown.

vin_mehta1988 reacted to JamesThresher in Maximus VI Formula SupremeFX vs Essence STX A/B Test
First off, i'll apologise for a bit of cross posting here, but i think this would be appropriate for the Audio category.
I received my new Maximus VI Formula today and one of the forum members asked if I'd check out the audio quality, I've also purchased an Essence STX for this build so I've been doing some A/B tests today while I was testing out some of the other components I received today and the results are interesting.
Firstly its worth remembering that any audio tests are very subjective. This was a fresh install of Windows 8 with both the SupremeFX and the Essence STX enabled at the same time with all default settings, no tweaks to equalizers or special modes were done. The audio sources i used were all lossless FLAC files and the earphones used are JHAudio JH16Pro Custom IEM's (IMHO the best earphones anywhere, period).
The short answer is that now I've heard both the Essence STX and the new SupremeFX, I'd still thoroughly recommend that if you want good audio, go and get the Essence STX.
I've never been the best at describing these things, but the onboard sound is just washed out compared to the STX, the base response, mids and high's are just more alive on the STX than the SupremeFX. Both showed no background hiss at all (something that the JH16Pro's are quite sensitive to) so the 120db noise floor of the SupremeFX certainly seems to be doing the trick. But overall the STX is noticeably better.
Just be aware that your mileage may vary, personal preference, audio source and speaker/headphone/earphone setup all play a big part. But my preference is firmly with the STX.
