X-Mass got a reaction from rhyseyness in Oculus Recommended Specs
as I said before I think they are very much limited by GPU performance vs cost
people are expecting to be able to play current PC games in VR,
Meanwhile the leading edge is seemingly being take by mobile VR with Gear VR 2 apparently being aimed at around 1900x2160 @60Hz However that will give you more dedicated VR games with much simpler graphics. I suspect Gear VR and similar products will become the core of Personal Cinema (PC) movement - which may end up challenging the in home TV panels/projectors sales.
If VR takes off then we may seem a console like effect on PC gaming, with all PC games in the next few years being designed to supply a minimum 90 or 120 fps at ever higher resolutions, but with similar graphics quality, rather than the push forward through the uncanny valley that is being taken by games such as final fantasy
Ironically whilst TV's may go the way of the dinosaur, it not be the death knell for cinema's. It is likely their lock up of first release movies will be eroded away in a world of personal cinema. But not if they evolve into out of home experience centres offering locally what was previously only available at the big amusement parks.
Cinema has always been about offering technology too expensive for home use.
So when people only had radio's in their home cinema's offered moving pictures,
When home TV watching was limited to 20"+ screen and mono/stereo sound cinema's offered huge screen and extensive sound systems.
Cinema's in effect offer time shared access to high cost experiences. So at first it might be motion devices attached to seats but it may evolve into cinema's where the big screen disappears and people bring their own VR PC's but sit in robot arms that let them have experiences that are currently the preserve of aircraft simulators

X-Mass got a reaction from MountainDrew in LGBT community
thanks for the bump!!!
Oh and I'm a dyke!
Oh and part of the trans community as in people who challenge 'traditional' assumptions about gender. I don't know why the OP put it down as transexual - as LGBT was always supposed to be about inclusion of the entire trans community not just transexuals.
I know being Loud vs steath is scary but i know a whole bunch of transexual people who are totally out as bi or gay but are seemingly totally stealth about being trans once they have got through the mill. Having said that with the way some people can be on the net I can understand - but you only get equality by challenging people to recognise that you exist.
I know being a warrior is scary, and it takes real guts to be the point of the spear, but if hadn't been for the trans community the LGB community probably still would be in the closet and stonewall would never have happened (the early gay rights groups such as mattachine society, and the Daughters of Bilitis were largely funded by trans people.) and stone wall was all about trans people taking back our community from the abuse of the police.
The sad thing is that the Police seemingly never changed or recognised their institutional homo/bi/transphobia, along with being institutionally racist/sexist/abelist and probably classist as can be seen in the police now finally being charged for murdering people, after years of getting away with it.

yes I have a coming out story but it was very very long time ago - I came out at school in the 1970's - but I guess I have been repeatedly coming ever since then as well.
I've been an activist for nearly 40 years now, and I was running a computer games company over 30 years ago!

X-Mass reacted to QueenDemetria in LGBT community
Eh, might as well bump this thread.
So if you guys didn't know I'm bisexual(although it could be debated that I'm more of a lesbian, but whatever. My Love, peace, and happiness is all I care about.). My coming out story is actually pretty boring, simply "I just came out". Nothing special, although I guess I could say that it made my relationship with my parents better(since I was letting my depression separate me from them). But yeah, I didn't really plan coming out, nor did anybody freak out(I do have some distant family that didn't take it well, I don't care), it just happened and it was great.
(Demi GIF because, well you know why.)

Linus and I actually both took fairly substantial pay cuts in order to work here and I think a number of members of the team did as well...

X-Mass got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in squarespace are total utter waste of time - I've seen less arogance from Apple
Until now I thought hmm squarespace maybe I should use them, they can't be as bad as arsebook. Well no, they can be worse!
Yup same old story - please create an account to comment, please connect to twitter or facebook to open an account and give us access to everything in your life
Oh you don't want to do that. OK Please fill in a stupidly long password because of security theatre
No we wont give you any feedback and no we wont register you - you must register via twitch or facebook
So I try their contact page - I AM required to read their FAQ's - spend ages wandering layer after layer after layer of FAQ but no way in
It seems to have Zen desk running but if thats logged into it dumps you back into the we know what you need best FAQ section
I repeatedly try contact any part of their site - I can only do so by being logged in via twitter /facebook
I tried the forum - i can only post if I have been logged in - there is a hole in my bucket
I not here trying to start a page - I'm a frigging end (l)user trying to write a comment on the site of someone unlucky enough to use their stupid services
my advice - take the money from squarespace for adverts and RUN, whatever you do don't use squarespace if you actually want to interact with your customer or consumers

X-Mass got a reaction from fallout68 in Best card under $200
if you can wait a month - you may find yourself with a different and probably better set of options and i suspect the advise will be significantly different than it is today
if it helps to understand what is happening remember that their is CES in less than 2 weeks and it can take companies a couple of weeks after that to get stick in the channel ready to buy
so if you can wait a month - BUT don't wait longer, as law of diminishing returns kicks in
but if you need it today - then the advise is how I would advise you

X-Mass got a reaction from APrettyCoolWalrus in negotiation with terrorists
because i have dyslexia amongst a whole bunch of other neurological disorders other issues and it helps me to be able to read back what I am saying. I can write long form, it just takes me longer to make sure that I am keep a thread going. I developed the technique as a tool when I was working on my PhD, once I had got the text into shape, then I could consternate it and re-write it for readability. But your right I can see that it would be annoying

X-Mass got a reaction from coen113 in Nicely Done Corsair with the Graphite 380T - fell into the same trap Bitfenix did with the Progidy
The Graphite 380T looks amazing and wonderful,
but its huge and with amount of space you could have let people fit a micro-atx board
Now a Corsair 380TMI would be great I could do with my rift what my back to the future of the eighties offered me
a lugable pc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_Portable that I can show off my super advanced VR gear http://vrwiki.wikispaces.com/VPL+EyePhone
OK DK2
So hows about Corsair - or are you too chicken?
