Corsair just announced 2 new products! The K95 Platinum and the Scimitar Pro. The two new devices both have hardware playback for the first time! The hardware playback is limited in certain ways. Not all of the actions and lighting effects supported by CUE 2 will be able to run off of hardware playback.
 
The scimitar got a DPI boost, to 16K, with a new tunable sensor. So that's good news if you liked tuning your mice. Before the Scimitar Pro this feature was only available in the M65 Pro. Oh and it does come in black this time right off the bat.  Thank god for black!
One small gripe they got rid of one of the DPI switches and rebound it to switch profiles... Not the best idea, flipping through 4 DPI settings just to lower your DPI by one level is frankly a tad annoying.
 
The scimitar doesn't look any different from the non pro version, but damn the K95 platinum has has a partial make over and it's looking sexy. The K95 Platinum will come in the black finish shown here or gun metal gray. And starts at 200 USD with your choice of browns or speeds. Sadly there are no reds... boooooo.
 
One more thing to note. The media keys, and 3 keys at the top left are not as bright as the rest of the keyboard. This is based off my observation of a sample that was given to me by Corsair. So hopefully this is fixed in the final release. 
 
I've used both devices for a week now and while I didn't find a use for the hardware playback on the mouse, I did enjoy having my macros on my K95 as I moved from place to place. It could use more macro options like all of the ones CUE provides on a software level but this is a good start considering no one else is doing anything like this.

lol, yea its going to be a love or hate thing. They got a lot of feedback that 18 macros was well 18 to many when you didn't have hardware playback. And i'm guessing they limited it to 6 because of the hardware playback. 

If that doesnt work contact Corsair Support. They will be able to help you better and process the RMA is its needed. 

Go in ot device manager and delete everything under HID, and Mouses. Then try a 2.0 port. If that doesnt work try restarting with the mouse in a 2.0 port
ASUS loves to put special sauce on their 3.0 and 3.1 ports... And when i say special i mean they decide not to follow standards and shit goes wrong.

I dont think i can say your being unreasonable for any reason but the K70 non RGB is at end of its life span.This means no more updates for the most part. If your going to get a keyboard i would recommend getting a Strafe RGB. Its way more future proof then a K70 non RGB.

Just to disclose this i got mine form Corsair for free. So take my advice with that in mind. 
 
Depending on who you ask the divers are either horrible or great. There are reports of the side buttons not working for some people, but Corsair is working on fixing it. Apart from that there hasnt been that many reports of issues with the Scimitar. 
 
However CUE has weird macro support and in some games it behaves weirdly. If you can, when your friend shows you the mouse plug it in and see how you like CUE and if it works with the MMOS you play.
 
PS: if you find the CUE UI horrible dont worry they are working on that too.

Contact Corsair Support they can get you a new keycap for free. If they try and charge you PM me. 

You should upload it to Corsair Forums or the RGB Share site. Its a very nice profile 

The Strafe has a update LED controller that allows for 16.8 mill colors, USB pass through, and redesigned key caps. It doesnt have an alu face plate, and lacks dedicated media controls.

It has been mentioned by Corsair James that it is unlikely at current market prices for PBT keycaps will be included.
 
The strafe does not have the flickering issues, and has a white back plate, and comes with a wrist wrest. 
 
And as everyone has mentioned its a entry level RGB keyboard. Its not going to have dedicated volume controls. 
 
And the Lock LED being so small was a bad design choice which was fixed in the strafe. 

I wonder would happen if Corsair tweeted something about Razer stealing their RGB keyboard idea.
