A co-worker of mine is looking for a new machine to work on when he is not at the office and I offered my help. Originally he was going for a standard desktop, so I had a clear idea on what to get based on his needs, but now that he changed his mind and opted for a laptop instead I'm link a blank board (but I couldn't say no when I saw him looking at a $3000 Alienware laptop!)
He is a graphic designer and will be going to use photoshop heavily, but he would also like a good looking laptop that can last more than few hours and have a decent size screen.
Based on his needs I was thinking about a laptop with a good fourth generation i7, 16GB of RAM (do they make laptop with that much? if not 8GB instead) and a decent GPU (he will not be gaming with, I was thinking something like a 650M just for the computational power).
What do you guys say? Am I looking for the right specs? As I said, I have no experience with laptops so I would really appreciate if you could link me to possible candidates.
I'll link this topic to him so he can read it, but I'll be the one mediating for him (he doesn't read/write English as fast as me).
Thank you in advance, I apologize for my English.
