I saw the video when it first went up and I don't even remember a music track on it. Can't imagine what else could have been copyrighted. Makes me think it's just someone trolling LTT.

CmHall9 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in Is it bad to leave a phone on Wireless Charging Pad all night?
Most charging circuits are smart enough to stop charging the battery after a certain point to account for the fact many people leave their devices plugged in. So this is kind of a moot point to worry about.

It depends on how you used the phone (warmer phone = faster wear on the battery) and how low you let the battery go down before recharging (more depth of discharge = faster wear on the battery).

I've had G4 since December 2015 and it can still last practically all day.

Judge: It's OK If Best Buy's Geek Squad Nerds Search Your PC for Illegal Content
A judge presiding over a child pornography case that was set in motion in 2012 has ruled that users have no legal expectation of privacy when they hand over their computers to Best Buy's Geek Squad IT technicians.

    (synopsis)
A Geek Squad technician working on a doctor's computer discovered a small thumbnail image containing a nude child. The file was discovered on the hard drives unallocated space, an area where a file was deleted but still exists until new data can write over it.
The Geek Squad called the FBI and the doctor was arrested.
The Judge decided that without the file's metadata there was no way to determine when the file was saved to the HDD, deleted, or where it came from.
The judge ended up ruling to suppress all of the evidence.

    (MY THOUGHTS)
Is it just me or does this sound like the Geek Squad employee went out of their way in order to find this file? Replacing an HDD and transferring files does not require you visually inspect each and every file.

I'm a self-employed computer technician, and I'm dreading the day I accidentally see something illegal on a customer's computer.  I go out of my way to avoid seeing anything, but sometimes you can't help it.  I've definitely seen things I wish I hadn't.  If I ever see anything illegal though, I don't know what my liability is.  Can I get in trouble for going to the cops?  Will I get in trouble if I don't and it's discovered?  It's just a mess.

You know, I always get so confused when I can't play music from my paypal app and can't pay for things with my pandora app /s

But yes, apparently Paypal thinks this is hurting their customers somehow...

Also icons compete for screen real estate regardless of what they look like, so I fail to see how the following argument has any bearing whatsoever...

I would recommend grabbing the text and selecting font - automatic, rather than remove formatting, because that way you don't do away with bolding or hyperlinks.

CmHall9 reacted to DimasRMDO in how to protect from dangers of internet?
    1. Be really observant.... When downloading something make sure you really click the download link, not something like....

    2. Download original software, if you need to pay for it, do it and don't try to pirate it as usually malware are put inside the files.
    3. Anti-virus helps although if internet protection is usually offered by paid anti-virus software.
    4. Keep all of your software up-to-date (OS is the most important).
    5. Go to websites that has "HTTPS" not "HTTP".
    6. To avoid phishing, when somebody gives you a link, DON'T open the link directly, hover the link and it should give you the full address without having you to connect to it. If it sounds dodgy then don't bother or if you can't tell just don't open it.
    7. Be paranoid, sounds bad but think about the worst case scenario.
    8. Putting lots of information in social media can be informative but can attract unwanted people to "do something potentially bad".
    9. If you click a link, then your browser (assuming you use Google Chrome) shows this...

Leave, unless you're really sure that it's not a deceptive site. You're still lucky that your browser blocks it for you.

    10. To avoid bloatware, when installing a software try to go with "Custom Installation" instead of "Express Installation" because sometimes the installer also installs other software that you don't need that can be avoided using Custom Installation.

If it doesn't come with custom installation, then you should be offered to install other software which you can decline.

    11. Use VPN, and try to use the paid service instead of the free ones as free VPN usually keeps logs of you. Using VPN can slow your internet connection down since traffics are sent to VPN first. (You can also use Tor but it can slow your internet speed down dramatically)
    12. Online shopping, to avoid scam (if you're buying big stuff like a PC or car) please meet with the seller somewhere to minimize scam.

Keep the OS updates with all the latest security patches. Install an Anti Virus. I suggest AVAST & Malwarebytes. Dont open up email attachments or emails from people you dont know. Use common sense. But, Common sense is not so common so you might want to hold your friends hand.

It has been great and a little bit of a problem at the same time. A few months ago Jaydon figured out, on his own, how to screen mirror his Android to the TV via the Roku. They screen mirror at his school so Jaydon played with his device until he figured it out. Jaydon loves to explore and learn all the different devices in the house. Besides the old Android phone he also plays with an iPad 3 and a iPod Touch.
But at the same time he cannot seem to go 5 minutes without picking up a device. We sometimes have to put everything away for the day. At 6-years-old you can imagine, Jaydon can get upset. But luckily he gets over it quick and looks for something else to do.

Thought it would be fun to make a topic about, all of our experiences with all the people, who doesn't really understand all the tech.
Note: Don't make this too harsh on them. You need to help them, not yell at them.
    I'll go first:
So my mom has a daycare. And one day I am sitting on the floor with my laptop. And one of the kids, with real dirty hands come and put his hand on the screen. Guess he thought it was a touch screen. Still haven't gotten it off, and it was 3 months ago.
My grandmother is scared of getting rid of the computer, because she thinks it will cut the power to her house.

To be frank, copying anyone's build log down to the exact hardware, no matter how reputable or whatever they are, is doing a build wrong. Use a build log for ideas, not for your actual build. If you're copying someone's build log to the letter, you're not thinking for yourself. But if you're someone who just wants a PC to play games on and decides to follow a random build, then okay.

I mean, people still buy pre-built systems despite the PCMR telling them how ducking glorious and money saving it is to build your own.
