  1. Right, extreme OCers. Forgot about those. Then i over complicated as i usually tend to do Thanks for pulling me out of the quicksand. Still annoyed by the lack of G3 on the market though...
  2. Ah.. there we go. Step up to 750W and EVGA has 2 EPS cables. Corsair didn't doesn't -.-
  3. And this is where my dilemma started.. lower wattage PSUs have only one EPS cable (the 8 pin). The x99 Strix has both an 8 pin and a 4 pin. Don't wanna use any adapters or anything like that.
  4. Mind you, i started out at 650 ^^ Then paranoia took over. Also, OCing is a given on both of them, maybe not full time, but definitely there.
  5. G2 is like 140 euro compared to the 150 of both Corsairs. Maybe i don't even need a 850W PSU in the first place? I'm starting to second-guess myself now. One more question then: 6800K on AIO + 1070 on Air plus some SSDs and maybe one HDD. 850 overkill? Was going for the sweetspot efficiency-wise and those would hit a 350 to 400 something, so right in the middle.
  6. @ForsakenLiveI've only looked at the HXi line-up. Not familiar at all with the older HX. Oh right, the cables bothered me a bit on the HXi. No sleeving, all ribboned. Might stick with the RM850i cause of that. And maybe i'm a bit too hung up on the Link feature of the PSU... @STRMfrmXMN Was looking at the G2 before i ended up on Corsair. Saw the G3 reviewed, wanted it but nobody has it -.- Not sure if it's just Germany that's lagging behind. Also, G3 is 150mm long.. nice *.*
  7. Quick question for this year's Black Friday. Corsair HX850i or RM850i when they both cost the same? One's a bit older and i don't know if that makes any meaningful difference (though i don't think it does). I'd tend to go for the HX850i. Also on a side note: The Define C states a 175mm PSU compatibility. Will the Corsair line-up with 180mm length present a problem(cause it all looks pretty tight with that hdd rack there)?
  8. Hey guys, seeing how my 8 year old rig (with a couple of minor and/or major upgrades under its hood) is starting to feel more and more like a sloth, i really think it's time to upgrade to something much more powerful that will hold me over for the next 4-5 years. The new rig should be able to handle anything content creation related with ease given that i want to ramp up my possibilities in Adobe Suite as well as some rendering software. So i've done some research and came up with somewhat of a build, though there are still some places where i'm hesitant to fully decide on a definite choice. Budget: ~2000€ CPU: i7 5820K (~390€) / i7 6800K (~440€) Now, i'm like 90% sure the 5820K is going to be the heart and soul of this build because i read the 6800K doesn't overclock as good and given the 50€ price difference it's a no-brainer. Still i'm throwing it out there in case i'm overlooking something. CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i (~120€) / NZXT Kraken X52 (~150€) Going AIO for the first time for two main reasons: don't want a big and heavy tower cooler hanging off the mobo and the AIO looks nicer. Price difference is negligible though i'm inclined to go for the Kraken here. I do have one more question though: 240 or 280 rad for a 10€ difference? Case should be able to handle both with no problems. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99P-SLI (~250€) / Asus X99-A II (~250€) / Asus ROG Strix X99 (~300€) / MSI X99A Gaming Carbon (~300€) As i see it, they're all great and performance-wise most likely equal but there are some small differences between them that leave me wondering. And this is where i would like some feedback from users with hands-on experience. Be it UEFI interface, Software Suite, component stability, customer support or anything else. Anything that might guarantee a smooth run or help avoid problems down the road is appreciated. Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB @ 3000 (~190€) Not much to go wrong here (even if it's a bit too much). At least i hope so Storage: 850 EVO SSD - 250GB (purchased) + PM961 M.2 - 256GB (~100€) + 2x 1TB HDDs (~100€) Not much to say here either. SSD will run my OS, M.2 will act as cache disk for different programs and 2 HDDs for storing stuff. GPU: Asus GTX 1070 STRIX (~470€) Running a GTX 960 now for casual to moderate gaming. Given the performance improvement I think the 1070 will deliver more than enough as well for gaming as for encoding or rendering (but will most likely be added at a later time). Case: Fractal Design Define C (~85€) Was looking to decide between the Define S and the R5 until this gem was released a few days ago. PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W (~130€) Here's to enough watts to run stock or OC and still have a bit of head-room left over. This is it. I've been trying to piece everything together based on what i need and want even if it's a bit overkill in some aspects. Given the time of the year (Black Friday, Christmas and all that) i'm also looking to maybe snag some great deals on some of the components. So let me know what you think or what you would do different. Regards, kyuu
  9. I managed a 3.1Ghz overclock on my Athlon 64 X2 5000+, after that it wasn't really stable. After that i got an Athlon II X4 640 and i'm too afraid to overclock it cause my mobo has a 3+1 power phase design.. so frying it really isn't an option :)
  10. A 430/450W PSU should be more than enough considering your specs. You'd have enough headroom left in case you wanted to OC your CPU(only with BCLK and probably on a better mobo?)/GPU. As for the CX series, even though i haven't had one myself, the reviews are non-existing and the opinions vary (some are satisfied with it, some complain about the coil-whine, some say the wattage is a bit lower). Try looking into some XFX, beQuiet!, Seasonic (or any other Seasonic rebranded PSUs - just like the XFX one). Very important is to read the reviews, and not just one of them, read as many reviews as there are on a single product cause that's the only way you can make an informed decision.
  11. Post #7 FTW. Playing with the player volume slider, the windows volume slider, the loudness equalization and the audio knob on my speakers would be too much -.- Keep it simple and just turn the knob.
  12. Here's what i looked at: WV Could be the same site. Oh... until June you could monitor the prices, you could use the price-alert function from tweakers in case one of your components is on sale or a discount. If you're lucky enough you'll get to save some more on your build :)
  13. cool just mentioning it, the MSI TF660OC is on sale right now so that's why it's so cheap (at least on the site i saw there), so yo might want to secure it already, but yeah.. it's up to you since it's not my place to tell you what to do with your money :D i only made some suggestions to improve the experience of your first build :)
  14. 15 euro less, that's good :) so when's the build due? we gonna see pics of the whole process right? :P
