  1. At work, we have two (licensed) ESXi hosts and a Synology NAS. Currently I'm using Active Backup on the NAS to connect to backup all of the VMs as well as Hyper Backup on the NAS to upload all of the backup files to Dropbox. We're currently looking at replacing the NAS for a storinator and we're unsure with which OS to go with, UnRAID or FreeNAS. The biggest decision for the OS depends on if we can find an alternative solution to Active Backup and Hyper Backup. I'm not very familiar with either OS so I'm not sure what the options are when it comes to backup. We're also moving from DropBox to Box.com for our cloud storage so any plugins that could integrate with it are also a necessity. If either of the above OSs are not suitable, I'm open to suggestions. I'm hoping not to have to spend any additional money on backup software cause this NAS purchase is already going to be a little bit of a hard pill to swallow. I'm not opposed to getting another Sinology server, but we were hoping to get something like a storinator with the possibility of doing zfs clusters down the road when we need more storage. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  2. I recently purchased 6 2TB drives and set them up in a raid 5 in my server with the intention of using the 10TB of storage for backups. On my desktop, I want to image the 128GB SSD and the 1TB HDD, but I don't want the image to include my steam library as I already have all my games backed up on an external drive. I typically use the free edition of Macrium Reflect for creating images and I know this would work fine for a full image, but I'm not sure if it can image only specific folders. Anyone know if this is possible? Any software suggestions on the best way to back up my data?
  3. I find Fing to be a really useful app for quickly finding devices by pinging them, but it only works if the devices respond to the ping.
  4. Update: The buzzing went away. I wonder if it was related to the power from the wall. I don't have it on a UPS currently, as it is further down the list and the server is just a home lab. I'm not worried about it staying on 24/7.
  5. The HDD was louder in the video. At my desk they are equally loud. The HDDs are supposed to be loud as they are 15k RPM drives. As for the PSUs, they both are buzzing.
  6. I came home today only to find that my Dell R710 home lab started to create a very noticeable buzz. I shut it down and I found that the buzz is coming from both of the 570w power supplies. I've had the server for a couple months and I have never had this buzz coming from it. Given that I sit about 6 feet away from it, the buzz is considerably loud. Attached is a video from my phone of the buzz itself. Should I be worried? Should I just let it be? Thanks in advance! Server buzz.mp4
  7. Try adding hint.agp.0.disabled=1 in /boot/loader.conf
  8. Try going into the bios and running the card at a lower speed, something like gen1 or gen2. Lets see if that fixes it.
  9. Is the WAN going through the card or the mobo?
  10. What NIC are you using?
  11. Intel Pro 1000 such as this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Intel-PRO-1000-VT-Quad-Port-Gigabit-PCI-E-Ethernet-Network-Adapter-H092P-/372025352469?epid=1800265423&hash=item569e706115:g:8U4AAOSwOg9ZePNL
  12. Are you trying to use the automatic detection or manual selection?
  13. I was about to give up, but over a quick lunch break, I decided to do a factory reset to the DRAC card, go figure, that fixed it. Thanks all for the help!
  14. Just out of curiosity, if you go to idrac settings > network/sequrity > ipmi settings, is your encryption key a large string of 0s?
