GM_Peka got a reaction from Webkitnote in Is G-Sync/FreeSync as laggy as V-Sync?
Vsync give input lag only when your fps is fully capped out at the limit of your refresh rate.

Gsync and Var sync also gives input lag in this exact same situation, so with gsync, it's HEAVILY advised to run an fps cap slightly bellow your refresh rate, like 140 fps cap for 144hz.

OP, you might also be interested in the upcoming Fast sync. lemme link a video.

It basically allows you to have really low input latency as well as no tearing, but you still get frame judder.

AMD would call it something else like "AMD syncing like a stone".
(someone at AMD, i'll buy your GPU if you do that.)

TBH, regarding Linus' video, I'm of the opinion that it's pretty bad, coming from someone who really knows all the sync solutions inside out and really cares about input latency and were it comes from.

Yeah, we need to just put that video aside.

Gsync and Freesync basically have zero lag as long as you stay bellow the refresh rate (so employ an fps capper etc).

It's also worth noting, just going to 144hz alone makes tearing and frame judder ALOT less noticeable.

    Try a 6+ hour test with Prime95 Blend (AVX2 isn't a problem with skylake)

I personally don't think Asus Realbench is good enough, from my own personal experience, I did a 12 hour run of Realbench without error, then I crashed while doing something random, I then ran Prime95 for 5 minutes and then error so I don't think Realbench is very tough for Skylake.

It took me 1.280volts to get 4.4 stable in the end, LLC 5, and I set the CPU VCCIO and System agent voltage to 1.5 volts for good measure, cause some chips can't handle 3000mhz RAM with stock Memory controller volts, although I'm not sure that's a problem for you since you still crashed without XMP.

Oh, and just an FYI, when running anything that uses AVX2 with adaptive voltage, your CPU will be supplied with +0.012 volts, because AVX2 is tougher generally.

Yeah, I'd say just get the 7v adapter, I mean, 5 pound isn't alot and you can choose the colour of the cable. Should provide enough airflow while being quiet, if you want it quieter still, you can just buy the 5v and keep the 7v as a spare.

GM_Peka got a reaction from Abdullahseba in What is quieter air or water cooling?
Unless you need really high heat dissipation, air is quiter, Air can just about go silent, where as water will only go so quiet with its pump.

I recommend OCCT with error checking on, because you don't have to watch out for visual artifacts that way, it's alot more objective with error checking.

Just get a cheap XFX PSU, even if the PSU isn't the problem, you should still be running a branded PSU.

BTW, on this forum, most people only pay attention to threads for about 20 minutes, then they never look at it again, so you might not get much response from here on.

Mentioning people like PythonHaxor will give people notifications. Or quoting them will also.

I don't really even bother overclocking modern Intel stuff, the gains a smaller than they used to be. For instance, the 4790k came in at 4.4GHz stock, and most people got it to 4.6-4.7GHz on average.

By comparision, I got my old q8300 to 2.8 from 2.5 stock with little effort.

Alot of AAA games don't even see that much gain from a CPU overclock anyway, so that 10% cpu overclock turns into like 2.5% actual fps gain. On top of that CPU overclocks mean more power usage, heat and noise (albiet not much in alot of case) and things can still crash even though you thought everything was stable (I got a CPU prime 95 24 hour stable, only to crash 40 minutes into rendering a video)

My stance on GPU overclocking is completely opposite though, GPU overclocking is hard to fuck up and very predictable, you can do a quick and dirty overclock in 10-15 minutes and be fairly certain nothing will fuck up, but at the same time, you almost get 1:1 fps gains with clock speed.

Just my person views on stuff at least.

AISuite commonly has issues, bug and the sorts, my advice is to stay away from it, you even need a clean uninstall utility to remove it from yours system, cause the default uninstaller leaves a service or 2 running.

You'll see alot of people on the internet having various issues and sometimes BSODS.

That's not true, the lower input latency is very noticeable. And bhopping and long jumps can be easier at higher fps.

For competitive FPS, you need all the frames you can get.

250 fps or so with that, yeah, abit more maybe, Post process and stuff off helps.

Once you get past a gtx 950, It's all CPU, you want newer architectures and higher clocks for the highest fps. 2400mhz RAM will yield another 1-2% more fps.

Finally, GET AN SSD, and SSD is far more important for CSGO than a 970. With in SSD, you'll never get any loading stutters, and generally get into the map first.
