What kind of data is on the drives? If it's just things like images, text documents, video files etc. you can literally just copy+paste it across. For things like system files and applications, drive cloning is a better solution, but there can still be issues with things not working correctly so I generally don't like using it unless it's very important you keep it as is. My personal preference would be to install any programs from scratch and just copy over data like images, text documents etc.

But basically, yeah. Set up the new drives first, then move everything across. Less steps and less downtime (theoretically 0 down time, minus installing the drives, but when transferring the data, it will likely be slow if you're accessing it as well).

    Watched this video, and stopped on this frame;

Quite a cool design, so I wanted to make my youtube feed look like that.
First I built a shell, and then, when tried the youtube APIs, I got stuck with keys I can't have, like `channelId` and stuff.
So this project is a bust (until I get interested again and write a youtube API mock), but at least there is a nice shell.

Also, "Floatplane", not "The Floatplane". We all know what happened to facebook..
Didn't want to just waste it, so here is a video for my archive of dead projects -

Note: this uses minimal styling (SCSS) as I stopped to work on it when encountered the API issue. It is similar, but differnt
Note2: Project time was about 2 hours (as I used a framework I am very familiar with and am a member of it's development)

    A couple of key points:
    - Never get the best laptop out there for "5 to 6 years", because in all honesty, a laptop normally maxes it's life span in 3-4 tops
    - You mentioned you are going to run Linux, and said you are planning to game on it. Do you know which games? Because otherwise I would recommend even dual-booting windows
    - If you wanna work on a laptop, or game on it, you will most likely need an external monitor, and a wireless mouse/keyboard for comfort. (I too am a developer)
Meaning - you have to get the monitor (150$ min), and the mouse/keyboard (around 50$) to your budget. Maybe even get a nice 50$ doc that will have everything ready.
    - If you agree with the previous point, on the external monitor, I would reconsider the size of the laptop. 17 inch is not very comfortable..

    For recomendations:
    - Where are you from? Is amazon OK?
    - Please link / write the model of your found laptop

Amit Moryossef got a reaction from Bensemus in Intel (INTC) , Micron (MU) Unveil New 3D XPoint Technology
Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) and Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) unveiled 3D XPoint technology, a non-volatile memory that has the potential to revolutionize any device, application or service that benefits from fast access to large sets of data. Now in production, 3D XPoint technology is a major breakthrough in memory process technology and the first new memory category since the introduction of NAND flash in 1989.

Details about 3D XPoint technology include:

Cross Point Array Structure – Perpendicular conductors connect 128 billion densely packed memory cells. Each memory cell stores a single bit of data. This compact structure results in high performance and high-density bits. Stackable – In addition to the tight cross point array structure, memory cells are stacked in multiple layers. The initial technology stores 128Gb per die across two memory layers. Future generations of this technology can increase the number of memory layers, in addition to traditional lithographic pitch scaling, further improving system capacities. Selector – Memory cells are accessed and written or read by varying the amount of voltage sent to each selector. This eliminates the need for transistors, increasing capacity while reducing cost. Fast Switching Cell – With a small cell size, fast switching selector, low-latency cross point array and fast write algorithm, the cell is able to switch states faster than any existing non-volatile memory technology today.

    Hey,
I have an NZXT Phantom 410, and even on lowest fan mode, when I touch the metal body (front and sides, not top) , I feel vibreations.
The case is on a cheap plastic moveable (with wheels) legs.
The reason it bothers me, is because My PC is very loud, and I want to do what I can to make it more silent. So, does vibrations amplify/create noise? and what is the best way to handle them.

    Thanks

New NAND manufacturing process stacks memory cells for higher-capacity, lower-cost solid-state storageIntel and Micron revealed on March 26 that they have teamed up and developed a NAND technology that is so dense, that it will allow creating SSDs with over 10 terabytes of capacity.
Although it might seem like these high capacity drives would be very expensive, the technology will not only enable high-capacity SSDs, but it is also assumed that it will drive down the prices on smaller SSDs.

    Hey guys!
I have an idea that I call "LinusFansTips" it is essentially a VidBox that the community sends unedited/edited reviews (have to be with a tripod, at least 720p, good light, clear and proffesional) and it will have a voting system that the community rates.
    It can go 2 ways:
1 - LMG will choose 1 video per week, edit it a little, and post it.
2 - Opening a youtube channel called LinusFansTips or something, uploading the videos there - so videos preferably will be edited, and if unedited we will edit it.

    What do you think?
If you are a part of LMG - Do you want this? will it be great?
If you are part of the community - Will you want to send videos? Will you want to review in video form?

If so, I will take on myself to build this VidBox.

    Thanks guys,

    - Upload videos that are your own! Only videos from youtube that are unlisted will be accepted. DO NOT upload directly to the website. Direct uploads will be deleted.
    - Do not upload videos of other people.
    - Record clean, preferably one take, preferably with a script video, when the product is infront of the camera or you sit infront of the camera.
    Help us!
    - We need a couple of things:
        - Name - suggest a name and preferably add a logo under "Art" category. - Do not suggest any ideas like "LinusFanTips", this is to close and we do not have authorisation.
        - Logo - when name is chosen, if you know photoshop add a logo with the name in it. Also will be cosen in that point a color scheme for the website/channel - 2 colors.
        - Icon + Channel Art - When we have a name and a Logo, we need an icon that is acceptible by youtube, and a channel art.
