  1. Hey guys so im getting to the point of ripping my hair out. Decided to build a new pc since my old one (3770k gtx 780) is showing its age and not really running modern titles. My problem is it keeps randomly rebooting/ crashing. I cant figure out whats wrong and i am pulling my hair out. My new build AMD RYZEN 5600X MSI B550M PRO-VDH MSI VENTUS3X RTX 3060 CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 16GB 3200MHZ CORSAIR HX850I (i have carried my GPU 3060 over as well as my PSU from my old build.) Things i have tried. 1.I have unplugging everything thats not needed only leaving the SSD,GPU,PSU connected. Same result. 2, Swapped my gpu RTX3060 (even though i know its good) with my old gtx780 which i know is good as i game with them both. Same result. 3, Swapped psu. Same result. 4,Done a bios flashback. Same result. 5, Tried a complete fresh install of windows on a new NVME SSD. Same result. 6, Memtest took 2.4 hours (longest its been running) passed. 7, changed ram for some that says ryzen compatible on the box. Same result.
  2. So for years my gran has been using vista on her laptop as we all know vista is bad, she will come and say the internet is not working (it is) to go downstairs to find her pc is working but vista is just crashing programs. I have told her she needs to move to 7 because vista is just crap and i will do it for her for free to which i get the response "but it does not normally do this" which again i know to be bs as she often sits there saying "come on" to her computer. So how do you convince someone to upgrade from vista who is not tech savvy?
  3. Unless you are doing high data transfers from things like servers 5e is more than enough for the home user.

    Wireless network

You can also do search for isp's that are local to your area and check on their website to see what you can get in the uk we are lucky we have loads of sites comparing isp deals. Just another option if you are not too good with speaking on the phone. But if you are really in the middle of nowhere you are looking at DSL or saterlite internet which is like 50kbps.
  5. I replaced all the Ethernet cables with red ones so that speeds up the network as you had some blue ones which are slow. I changed the network wireless signal from N to A as A is the first letter in the alphabet so its faster.
  6. Sadly mate gaming routers is nothing but a marketing ploy, i bought a asus rt66u and never have an issue of lag (Ethernet is better) but really any asus router.
  7. It reminds me of what you would see on a elite hackers or technology comapanines pc. too cluttered for me but i can see why some would like it.
  8. If it looks good get it i have a ds213+ thats been running 24/7 since 2013 as a movie server they are solid units i recently got the new ds414 play. try to knock him down a bit more maybe 200 or 190 but with all 2nd hand things its a gamble.
  9. Hey guys so i need a litle help. I have a netgear 8 port gigabit switch model number GS308-100UKS. What i want to do is put my 2 nas boxes in the spear bedroom out the way as right now they are next to the radiator in a cubed i made (i know its not the best place). My set up right now is i have my modem and router downstairs then i have a eathernet cable running though the sealing to my room which goes to a gigabit switch. Now my plan is to run a 25m eathernet cable from the switch in my room into the attic and down into the spare bedroom then put another switch on that cable then hook up both my nas to that switch but would that work??
  10. A car is the second biggest investment you will have so test drive all of them push, prod, poke, twist eveything. No one can pic a car for you as we wont be driving it for you so you really need to put yourself in the seat and form your own opinion baised on the experince you get.
  11. Hi guys, My brothers birthday is comming up and he has decided he wants a pc to play dayz, minecraft (he watches youtube plays a lot as he is 12) my grandad was going to take him down to pcworld to pick a desktop pc but i convinced them i can build a better pc that will last longer and be more powerful than those oem piles of junk for just a bit more. I have a budget of £500 and not a penny more i was thinking of a AMD build as i think a intel rig is just too much money for his build i was thinking of a build that later down the line he can whack in a more powerful gpu and play more intensive games. My build idea so far wd 1tb hdd for boot and storage (he does not need a ssd for a boot drive) 500w corsair psu asus gtx 750 ti (it has a kick to it ) corsair vengence 8gb ram kit Any idea on a cpu and motherboad Edit: Fat fingers moment i meant 750ti
  12. Its not what i would call a clear cut answer, there are new processors coming out every year but they are not really that much more powerful than the ones they replace (bringing products out to keep the cash flowing) take the haswell I5 and a sandybridge I5 for gaming the sandy is still more than capable of running games at max settings despite coming up to 4 years it is still more than useable and you can always over clock. Personally i think if you went and got a i7 oc it you could maybe get 7 years id you do not mind playing games at medium and dropping the aa,detail as people are still getting some good performance from core 2 quad oc, early i7s.
  13. Honestly its a really cool build the time and effort involved in the end product is going to look the dogs balls.
