I probably should have mentioned, I already have a shadow rock 2 on my current build and can get the AM4 mounting hardware for £5 so will likely be transferring that across. I'm also hoping to keep 2x16Gb of ram due to the CAD work I need to do on occasion. Is there much else I'd lose out on by going ryzen 3000 rather than 5000? Yes, I should have looked more at micro atx, I was kind of stuck on full atx as that's what my current and previous builds were.

I have found the SN550 for £90, is the Sabrent any better? for the extra £15? The MSI was around £135 I believe, so any cheaper than that is a bonus, if I can save enough overall on the ssd/mobo, I may be able to upgrade the cpu to a r7 5800x, I'd probably be looking to have 4 dimm slots for future expansion, as I do some CAD work from home so may need.

My main monitor atm is a 1440p 144hz monitor, generally the limiting factor isn't my gpu, it's almost always my cpu being maxed out, even being overclocked considerably. What's wrong with the X570's from MSI? Any other brands/feature I should look at with 5000 series ryzen? I'd only selected the samsung ssd as I'd heard good things about them, but having a look at the sn550 it does seem like more than enough

My current was built just before I started uni and has had a few minor upgrades over time, it's currently sitting at; i5 4690k 4x4gb ddr3 Kingston hyperx fury Asus maximus vii ranger 125gb sata ssd 256gb sata ssd 1tb wd black hdd Gtx 1070ti EVGA NEX650G The gpu was upgraded around the time the 20 series came out when they dropped in price with the new release, so that isn't a major issue. I think it's finally time to upgrade the cpu, which of course means mobo and ram too, and while I'm at it, I may as well upgrade to an nvme ssd. So my current planned upgrade components are R5 5600x MSI MPG x570 Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16gb 3200mhz Samsung 970 evo 1TB My budget is around £700 which is what these components are roughly coming to. It's been a while since I've properly kept upto date with current pc tech, It'll mainly be used for gaming such as newer games through gamepass etc, with a little streaming, mostly to friends. I did look at b550 motherboards but for the relatively small price difference the x570's seemed much better. Any tips on component selection etc or anything I've done wrong/incompatibilities etc pls let me know!

Slightly updated list following your tips and swapping out the 212 evo due to compatibility with am4 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DWdgVY

Trying to keep it under £800, used mostly for gaming and a little bit of CAD work (planning on upgrading with another 2x4 set of RAM in a few months) C&c on the build wanted and welcomed https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/L24Gyf

ekwb supremacy msi z97 krait. cpu contact issue
SniperDan replied to Pandora's topic in Troubleshooting
Is it orientated correctly? Is the backplate on properly? is the cpu sitting in flat? is anything bent on the motherboard? -
Auto stop isn't an available option on the first fan, it is selected on the second. I can't see anywhere to change it to DC, all three case fans I have are the same and plugged in through fan headers (3 pin). Dragging the curve and saving doesn't make the fan stop still. I haven't changed anything, None of them have been updated, it's ASUS AI suite 3

Not sure if this is the right place, but I've always had a 0rpm mode for my case fans below 40*C. But today I've lost this on one of the three case fans I have. This fan now only goes down to 20%. While my other 2 fans look like this. Is this likely to be a problem with the fan or the motherboard? Thanks in advance for any help

This is why I said that I am not sure what I'm looking at, welcome suggestions and telling if my requests are unreasonable Thank you everyone else for your suggestions

With black friday coming up in a month I thought it was about time to look for a new monitor. I'm not the most up to date with monitors currently so could use some help. It'll mostly be used for gaming but also some CAD. What I'm looking for: 20-24~" 120 or 144hz DisplayPort preferably IPS and roughly £250 max, although could be more depending on how good black friday sales are this year (eg what's on sale to around £250) Any suggestions or telling me my requests are unreasonable is greatly appreciated

Depends on your grip, if you palm grip I can't recommend the shogun bros ballista enough, so comfy

i5-2400 & Biostar TH67+ Ram Compatibility
SniperDan replied to thewind32's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Ignore the cpu's limit for RAM clock speeds, they're pretty much to show the lowest it will go, just go by the motherboards capabilities -
Hey guys, I'm looking for a case for my new build. Not a massive case guy, so not to sure whats out there to fit my needs: -Full atx support -Either black or black with red highlights (think h440) -Work with both air and water cooling, this system will be run just off of air for the first few months till I can re save up for water cooling -Minimalistic design (e.g not something like a phantom) -Be <~£80 Thanks in advance for any help
