Drunk.EU got a reaction from trevb0t in New build, when?
The new ryzen CPUs that are going to be released this year should be a really good upgrade. I would go for those.
Intel ones will take a lot more time by the looks of it.

Definitely, i actually had the same issue with my 3570k and the 1080.
I switched to 8600k and the performance difference was clear. My GPU was getting to 100% on all the titles as well after that.
Previously it was around 40-50% tops.

Not with that cooler you won't.

I haven't gone all the way with my 8600k, 4.5 Ghz is more than enough for me. Haven't tested the limit of my chip either so can't say.

the z390 for an 8400 is not required. Honestly just go for an b360 motherboard for a non k processor and you should be able to save a lot more.

Just fresh install, moving OS usually comes with problems. Some functions not working, driver crashes etc.

If you just want to keep your data, you can plug in all the drives and boot with the new drive directly. Just use File Explorer to navigate to the old drives and get to the old files.

Drunk.EU reacted to Cereal5 in Do I need to upgrade my PSU?
I second this. I generally only recommend Corsair and EVGA PSUs that are 80+ gold or higher and Semi/fully modular. Almost always means they're higher quality.

Also modular PSUs make cable management and clutter so much easier to deal with.

If your PSU has a 6 pin power connector then it can run all the above mentioned cards.
the 1050 doesn't require any external power, it can run from the PCI-E slot (requires only 75w only).
