HerEscutcheon got a reaction from da na in Experiences with non-techies
Before I moved to Minneapolis, I was a preschool teacher in North Dakota. Of the 4 teachers in that room, I was the most tech savvy, and I'd be frequently asked to help fix things the kids did to the desktops. One time, a teacher needed help because the mouse wouldn't work, even though she claimed she plugged it in. So I follow the mouse cord to where she put it, and couldn't help but laugh (politely) as I discover she had tried to plug it into the back of the monitor, into a screw mount inside a little recessed area meant for holding the monitor together. I of course showed her where it actually goes.
I was also briefly an IT for McDonald's. One time a guy at the other end said he couldn't get to the cables, so he'd "be right back after he cuts a hole in the desk to reach them." After yelling "no, wait!" And some faint sawing noises, he came back and reported that he had cut through the desk AND the cables.

meh I'd still rather stick with air cooling. high end air coolers are on par with high end AIO coolers.

HerEscutcheon got a reaction from delinquentJACK in Cryorig vs Noctua
"I would personally go with the Cryorig R1, because it should provide roughly the same performance as an NH-D15 while having superior aesthetics. Either cooler would make a great selection, and you should simply choose the one you find most appealing. You really can't go wrong."

Sorry, but I must fix broken things...

Anywho, I'm also going to suggest you pick Cryorig. Beautiful heatsink, easy installation, fully viewable memory, and very competitive with Noctua's performance.

I'm really liking the design choice EVGA decided to go with. I've liked the industrial design of Nvidia's magnesium/aluminum reference cooler (until this year's angular changes), and it seems EVGA wanted to give us something similar. And for those thinking the accents were white for some reason, pretty sure it's grey aluminum or something. Love me some black and grey metal builds.

For me, the best micro ATX case available right now is the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv. Thick aluminum, hinged side panels, zero thumbscrews, four different LED color options, power supply shroud, velcro cable management, custom water-cooling ready, and very well put together.

Consoles are 60% more generation than personal computers... Okay, let me try and figure this out... The possible meaning of this strange sentence could be...

    1) Consoles are 60% more popular to this current generation of people than computers are.
    2) Current computers are 100% in the now. Consoles are 40% in the now, 60% in either the past or future.
          - If true, and consoles are constantly in both the present and past, then it must make sure not to accidentally procreate with itself. After all, we wouldn't want another Ouya.
    3) Consoles have had 60% more generations than computers.

HerEscutcheon reacted to Trik'Stari in Brave new browser announced.
The Co-Founder of Mozilla, Brendan Eich, has announced a new browser based on blocking advertising content and ad tracking. Named, Brave.

What sounds really interesting, is that it still has advertisements, but instead of targeted ads based on ad tracking, the ads will be anonymous.

That actually sounds kind of crazy. Some of the advertising revenue, will be shared with the users. I'm not even sure how such a thing would be possible.
