  1. Just a question (and this is just as much directed at the people that say Polaris/Vega will crush pascal). At least in the last decade, when was the last time one completely blew the other away with a series of cards?
  2. This comes up a lot. Physical reaction time is a lot different. http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm
  3. Do you know just how many people don't even know AMD exists? I was talking to a coworker that games a lot. He bragged about his 980Ti, and when I told him I had a 390 he was confused as to what that was. It's only really in places like here that they can be vocal, because most people wouldn't know what they were talking about otherwise. I'm not saying that they aren't very vocal, they are, just that they don't balance each other out because the one is only heard by a small number of people.
  4. But according to Patrickjp93 SoFIA was amazing and crushing everything else in its targeted segment. Why cancel something so successful?
  5. I have a question. A double node shrink, and a new architecture, and you're saying they won't be able to do what they are already doing. Why? And I think you mean 290/390 because that's the card on par with the 970 and competing with it on price.
  6. To be fair, while that's how a 1-10 scale should be used, it's very rarely the way it actually is. Most game magazines and review sites run on the 5-9 system that a regular person would use rather than the full range they should. Meaning that most people will see this compared to other scores and think it's worse than trash. (I honestly can't think of the last game I even saw get a 5. Usually when they get even a 6 they talk about nothing but problems with the game.) I will stick to blaming the educational system for pounding it into our heads that a 70% is average, below a 60% is a failure, and that a 90% is considered the same as full marks. It kinda caries over afterwards and people don't even realize it.
  7. Oh ZMeul. Forever reaching conclusions that are in no way supported by the article. Though it may sound odd, the thing I'm most excited about for Polaris and small Pascal is the notebook gpus, let Vega and big Pascal be amazing on desktop. Can't wait to see the performance increase. It would be nice to have a laptop that could run games well that didn't break the bank.
  8. That's exactly what I got out of this thread.
  9. They won't be launching the big dogs any time soon, this is just the lower tier cards. No one plans on seeing Vega/Big Pascal until around the end of this year at the earliest. The cards thought to launch in June-July are small Pascal and Polaris with small die sizes. And while yes, this is a different node, everything points to regular GDDR5. GDDR5X production doesn't ramp up until June, so it wouldn't make it in time and HBM 2 doesn't have the yields for both companies either and would only be put on their stronger cards.
  10. It's not something to be that doubtful of, they did it with the 700 to 900 series transition. Stopped production of all 700 series cards in September, paper launch of 970/980, then the actual launch a couple months later. It would be right in line with that.
  11. This is for double precision stuff, not gaming, so it isn't as inefficient as you think. It's competitors are still Kepler based cards because maxwell has horrid dp performance.
  12. The smart pistol was one of the problems I hated most lol. Most people say it wasn't that bad and then go and choose that one perk specifically to be able to take another smart pistol round. And the bots were terrible on their own in my experience. They couldn't dodge and missed most shots.
  13. Hopefully it's as good as it sounds. I was the same, the first bit was fun, but there was so little variation it grew stale quick. I just want a good game that lets me fight giant robots with other giant robots.
  14. I feel that I must chip in here. Never use Nexus Mod Manager, use Mod Organizer instead. It does the same thing, but without actually installing mods to your data directory, making uninstalling mods or troubleshooting much easier.
  15. 2. an unmanned aircraft or ship that can navigate autonomously, without human control or beyond line of sight: the GPS of a U.S. spy drone. (loosely) any unmanned aircraft or ship that is guided remotely: a radio-controlled drone. That's precisely what a drone is.
  16. If they receive a warrant properly to search the phone, the problem is?
  17. That's a great comic. I heard about people cancelling their preorders and I have to say that that's a ridiculous over reaction. That's just as bad a response to this as the original response to the pose was. I personally have no problem with their reasoning for removing the pose once they clarified that a bit, but people seem to have turned a fight against ridiculous 'sexism' into a fight to keep this pose in the game no matter what. We've gotten more than a little off track here.
  18. I'll say what I was about to on the other topic posted. It says down at the bottom that it's satire. If you google it, the only results are this article and a bunch of forums that have reposted it. Hell, it even has 'humor' in the url. lol
  19. I was fine with it at first, no real problems to speak of. But I watched more anime and read more manga and it's high school this and high school that. They've managed to shove a high school into literally every plot imaginable. Doesn't even have to be great at this point, just don't revolve around high schoolers and keep the fan service under control and you've already done better than 50% of stuff released.
  20. I also approve of Kokoro Connect. Loved it. For the OVAs, basically the light novel finished up but didn't have enough material for a whole 2nd season, so they just made a few OVAs. Are those high schoolers I see? Hooray...
  21. I thought this was known already. Something like 90% of revenue of the free to play, pay to win games comes from 5% of the players as well. Personally, I have no problems paying for apps. If I enjoy it and get some time out of it, I'm all for supporting it and I'm willing to pay up front for well done games with good reviews. Unlike others say, there are quality mobile games out there, sadly they're buried under all the massive amounts of clone of popular games and just generally bad ones. But they do exist and not all of the developers are greedy.
  22. Actually, your reply was to someone completely different that just asked for some more information. You were the first one to make a rude comment like that.
  23. Wonderful article. Nothing but a claim by someone that works for Arm that the user experience is on par and soon it might before powerful. Not that it is more powerful.
