thrasher_565 got a reaction from RevGAM in Liquid Cooling, fans, radiators and air flow. Fundamental question?
from gen to gen as the chips gets smaller and more packed in the hotter the cpu gets and the cooling plates cant keep up so its hard to compare that is why its confusing.
back in the day when we water cooled the i7920 and oced it to 4.0ish and did an sli of say 2x gtx 275 cards most would round 2 360 rads some times 3 rads and target at about 60c with 1200 rpm fans.

the newer stuff runs hotter so air cooled there hitting like 85c+ so under water a good temp would be say 70c the more rads you add the more demising return per dollar spent per c drop.

I agree with this. You already went through the effort of polishing the screen with an "abrasive" paper towel. Just go all the way continue further up with finer grit papers and compounds. I wonder if a "magic eraser" would be finer grit than a paper towel? Otherwise look up online the finest grit pads you can find for your polisher along with finishing compound.
Try the Lake Country finishing pads or the Rupes BigFood finishing pads lol.

Since the damage is already done, I'd take the bezel off, tape off the edges and use car polishing compound to try and buff out the marks.

70C is the issue. That CPU is extremely hot + old it's not designed to go above 61C

I would get a aftermarket CPU cooler that can handle 150 TDP OR MORE ASAP!! or at least the 125 TDP. I would currently limit the CPU to 4.0GHZ current to lower the temperature a tad bit more.

I got the gpu for $7 from a thrift store about 2.5 years ago and just started looking for something to put it in.
Eventually settled on this board because it supported the agp gpu without also having pci-e slots (which ruins the soul), and supported quad core cpus and 1066mhz ddr2.
then came 2 years of waiting for one to come up for a reasonable price which one finally did at $79.
Then I got the case as open box for like $110
    got the cpu for $20
got the ram from the side of the road for free

I kinda wanted basically this so I dont really plan to sell it but I definitely want to find a more appropriate retro case
Sure you can make a faster xp computer, but you literally cant make a faster AGP only computer than this.

you can go uo to like 2150 rpm and it be prity quiet. posably 2400. back in the day the norm was 1200 rpm. my gentle typhoons did 2150 and there quiet. gpu fans on the other had can be alot louder depending on gpu. we also got hire rpm 140mm fans that are also quiet at 1900 rpm. smoothing we didnt have back then. there was one fast 180mm fan and that was siver stone but pasted 800 it got nosy.

people that dont care about cost go for it. who cares. i dont need 8x 560 in my pc but i can...dose not mean i tell them they need 10 3000 rpm fans in there system...

imo if you want to go water cooling and want expandability i would get a water cooling case.

you could water cool in the case you have now but most likely you have the rad out side the case...

a basic loop needs a pump, res, rad, and blocks gpu/cpu and 6 fittings and some tubeing.

probly recommend at least 2 rads.  but water cooling newer stuff is werid you can thow all the cooling at it and it still run hot... 🤷‍♂️

if we are not tell them what is best for the moeny the why not tell them to go balls deep then. spend $500 on an aio for that 1c drop. $50 a fan. $300 case. and walyes buy the striks kuz its the best right. gota use kpx too...

ya but sound gos up, cost gos up, uses more power all for like 2c... its not worth it like ever. only if you have no space to add more rads. the cost to buy another rad would get way more temp drop for your money even if you add $5 fans on it.

    its looks cool thow🤷‍♂️

thing to note is ek fans cost like $25+ each so thats like $75 in fans...

i would flip the side fan so it exhaust or remove it
ya a cpu cooler would be a huge upgrade and then i would put a fan in the top front as intake.

its posable to mount a fan in the 5.25 bay just might not look as nice. you can get a 3d printed mount but they cost alot. there one on ammazon for like $15.

there was a deal on ebay for a 1080 water cooled for $300 and i was trying to get  it cheaper and missed out that was just before the 20 seres lunch. i did buy one 1080 for $350 and sold it for $450 a week later thow. deals come and go.
