Gigabit network connection being bottlenecked by the 14 year old RAID 0 array its transferring files to. Top kek.

Damn that's a good array. What setup?

2x SATA1 Seagate Baracuda 7200.7 200GB @ 7200RPM. The read speeds are about 10MB/s higher than the writes-which slow down rapidly once you get past around 40-50GB per drive/80-100GB on the array used. And it currently struggles to get close to 60MB/sec writes. A bit of a problem for my brother, but considering its got:

    • a GTX 650ti 2GB
    • Core 2 Extreme X6850
    • 4GB RAM (soon to be 6GB again...once the motherboard is replaced)
    • a 120GB boot SSD
    • Windows 7 Pro 64bit (sub 1GB RAM usage with windows updates turned off)

    Things could be worse.

Damn that's not bad at all. Maybe upgrade that 6850?

I do have a Xeon X5450 some where (and have actually gone as far as to mod the motherboard's BIOS to support everything LGA771), but it went missing between upgrading my friend's rig to LGA1150 and storing the motherboard in the box it came in. And since its unlocked I just have it run at 3.6GHz, though of course its a bloody pig when it comes to power consumption and heat (it pulls more than the 650ti, even with that overclocked to 1133MHz).

This should give you an idea as to how well the rig can actually perform despite its age and use of DDR2:

Switching the BIOS chips around and effectively downgrading to v2001 from v2301. And the benefit was being able to use all 3 functioning RAM slots at the same time, so it now has 5GB RAM. As well as being more stable.

Edit: Also, the CB R15 score is now higher.
