Still my favourite laptop.

And using the desktop socket at that. Kind of means that I can bench any PGA 478 CPU that I want, since if I remember correctly that the 3.2GHz P4 was the fastest CPU on it. Still going to be getting it a motherboard (and by extension new heatsink) so I can run an Athlon XP or 64. Who knows, maybe it wll then be able to play Halo 1 without the iGPU locking up (back then with these laptops it was either Intel+Ati's shitty single channel DDR333 chipset, or AMD+Nvidia's good dual channel DDR400 chipset)

There are 3.4GHz P4s as well. I have several. Would love to see that laptop try and cool one. they can be found for super cheap too
If your feeling lucky, if the board can support it, and if you can get one for a reasonable price, P4 Extreme editions at 3.73 and 3.46 ghz. Supposedly the 3.46ghz models are actually better performing then the 3.73 models.
SpoilerDo we perhaps share a name?!!!!

I think the limiting factor would be the 120W power brick. The laptop has 2 rather large copper heatsinks on individual heatpipes, along with 2 very large blower fans (they do have a bit of a whine, but not as bad as any modern gaming or desktop replacement laptop-and the move loads of air throughout the chassis as well as the vents. And the laptop is kept under the P4's maximum temp of 70oC (fun fact, after 10 years of heavy use the vents were barely clogged with dust at all).
