A while back (August 2012) I decided to make my own Gaming PC for the first time, I had little experience and didn't even know the meaning of CPU :P.
The PC list I chose is:
Motherboard - ASRock Z77E-ITX
CPU - Intel 3570K (not overclocked, not planning to)
GPU - XFX Radeon 7770 Overclocked edition
Ram - 8Gb (2x4gb) Kingston HyperX Perfomance 2400mhz CL11
Storage - Crucial M4 128gb (Operating System)
- Western Digital 1TB 7200rpm (games etc...)
Power Supply - Antec High Current Gamer 520w
Case - Bitfenix Prodigy
DVD - Asus (No idea which, got it from a friend)
This list was about 750 euros at time of purchase and I do recommend this to any early builders or those looking at a budget PC.
I've been playing with it since and it has always run smoothly but it is time to upgrade! This is what I think of my build:
Likes
+ Quick boot up time, 8 sec.
+ Very snappy and responsive in OS and simple application e.g. Word, IE etc..
+ Most games run adequately (check bottom for more info)
+ Silent
Issues
- Warm, will operate at around 60-70 degrees when gaming and 40-50 with basic tasks. Still using the stock CPU heat sink.
- Screen flashes on and off with at absolute random intervals with no pattern.
- I wish to do dual monitor but I think the GPU isn't powerful enough.
- The Motherboard only has 2 fan sockets, is there anyway to get/make/improvise more?
- Dust magnet.
Any help/tips or advice in how to improve the build, maybe what parts to buy, is greatly appreciated!
