If you really wish to, feel free; however, if it isn't needed then you might as well just leave it as is. I'd say just wait until you need to clean your rig and when you are doing that, go ahead and make the change then so you won't go out of your way.

Might be some leftover residue from production. It probably wasn't cleaned good enough.

Run the cooler for a bit to see if it dissolves, it's been asked a few times before and supposedly it should go solution but if it doesn't I would look into doing an RMA on the unit or returning it if you can, unless you want to do a fluid change.

Similar to a custom loop you would drain and flush the rads and blocks out before reassembling and refilling. You can always just hook the pump up to 12V power and see if it goes into solution without having it installed first.

4.4ghz on stock voltage seema reasonable. 4.5 might be pushing it. However, if you overcloxk more, please adjust the coltage manually.

From the default settings, for the kind of overclock it looks like you want, you should only need to set the Multiplier to 44-45.

Everything else at default settings should be able to deal with it.
Automatic voltage will generally always be safe and never push beyond a known good value.
Speed Step will also be enabled by default and will have your clock speed and voltage go down when the CPU doesn't need the extra power.

So really, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yes, indeed your correct about the boost clock, it's 4.2 on the 6700K.When ocing you should disable turbo mode and if you want a constant clock disable Speed Step or EIST, if you want your multiplier to change based on load enable Speed Step or EIST.

you should not have to fiddle with the voltage with an oc that weak. adjusting the multiplyer alone should be fine

Personally, I would keep the SSDs separate. The 840 Evo is known for the firmware issue and slow speeds. The patch firmware kind of works, kind of doesn't.

In RAID0, you are limited by the slowest SSD (It will slow down the other SSD to match). The 850 would be bottlenecked, though, by how much, I'm not sure.

I would install the OS on the 850 and keep all games / programs on the 840. The hard drive for data of course.

Setting up a raid is simple.
Living with a raid, not so much.
You'll gain a huge performance boost, but you'll most likely not even notice it, because all it does is to improve reads and writes and how often do you copy a large file (more than a few GB) from one drive to another? Probably not that often that it would matter to you to safe a few seconds on doing that.
Apart from it beeing not that useful it's also only half as secure. If one of your drives dies, the data on both drives will be lost.
I had a Raid 0 myself with two Toshiba HDDs and I only had problems with it.

Allthough if you are only stroing your OS and some games on there the worst that is going to happen is you need to redownload you games and reinastall OS.

I'd say sure. It makes things faster :3 But its dangerous because if one SSD dies, the data is lost on both.

The monitor should come with a DP cable. They tend to be pretty short from my experience though. The one I got with my monitor was only about 0.5m long.

If you went crossfire not all games support it and its always better to have one fast GPU as then it will have best performance on all games. this is because indie games normally doesn't support crossfire on AAA do. therefore in my opinion would be to go for the Furry X if you have the space, as it would be better for all games in general. also would support 4k just in case you wanted to do that

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I've wanted to upgrade to a 1440p 60+hz IPS monitor. I have been waiting and seeing what's coming out for the last months to make my decision.

After a lot of consideration (won't get into all that here) I am leaning very heavily to the Asus MG279Q.

With that being said I am kind of forced to go with and AMD card and I wanted to know if, for gaming at 1440p, an R9 Fury X is my best option.

The way I see it i can either do that or go for a R9 Fury like the Sapphire one or I can go for something like a Xfire setup with 2 R9 390's for example which would cost roughly the same as a Fury X (i am price conscious and price sensitive).

All these options have several pros and cons and I would love to hear out some opinions on it.

Thank you all in advance for your inputs!

    Cheers

Scaling actually depends on the monitor. Some will be sharper than others. Check #8 here.

The Dell P2715Q seems to be the best at handling scaling right now. Other monitors such as the PB279Q or the 28" 4K TN monitors (including Acer G-SYNC model) don't handle it as well.

    Heyyo,

1080P is still fine but lots of current games use deferred shading which in turn means that MSAA is not possible and can cause pixelation.
Another notable difference with 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 resolutions is the amount of detail. Textures do look a lot better in 4k as they are rendered closer to their native resolutions for games with high detail textures. It's quite impressive how even some older titles can look better by using a 4K monitor.
Of course, the downside to 4K is the performance sacrifice as it is a fairly new standard and current GPU hardware to run it with good detail settings while maintaining a playable framerate is still out of the average gamer's budget.

If you are running a single 780ti or sli two of them you would be fine for pretty much any game at 4k. We will also see what AMD comes out with and go from there, but it should most likely be similar.

In terms of monitors to recommend I would recommend that if you have the money get an ips or ips like pannel.

Finally Computex is currently happening in Taipei Taiwan, so I expect that there will be many more monitors and potentially graphics cards release at this time, so come back and ask again when you are closer to actually buying this monitor and graphics card(s) to go with it.

If you plan on doing editing and want to run 3 or more GPU's in the future, X99 is the way to go. The base CPU, the 5820K will more than handle whatever you want to do with it.
